Summoners broke?

Ya the loss of Titan as a tank broke the viability of that class for open-world/story challenges. I just use RDM now as it has a functional healing ability and just levelled SMN with Roulettes.

My advice OP - try RDM. it unlocks at 50 and is much more versatile and understandable than the CF that is SMN rotation these days.

lol what? Old Titan couldn't even keep aggro from enemies, I'd rather a 30% HP shield every 30 seconds.

Agreed, and same.
Now, if only Ruin IV procs' weren't tied to Egi Assaults (so you don't run out of charges with other Egis' assaults when you need it)...

Tbh, same. Cuz, all I see is the "flow" is spamming oGCDs while trying to weave in Ruins. The whole point of most of the rotation posted seems to be cutting out Ruin cast time so you can keep spamming as many oGCDs as possible.

But hey. Maybe I have trouble understanding it just because I'm not at level cap. Lots of traits and skills that start working better with reduced recast or added utility, maybe. But, that kinda just shows the poor design of it all if it's really not working well/smoothly pre-70+.

And, I may also be biased, being BLM main, where everything seems to have a much clearer place in the larger puzzle.

I never played summon before this expansion. Leveled up as summoner. Never realised it wasn't "field viable". I can't stand the job, it flows like a piece of crap, but it certainly doesn't struggle to kill stuff any more than any other dps job that doesn't have self-sustain. Thanks to it relying a lot on strong short-form cooldowns too in the form of trance, any of the "downtime" you get while running from place to place results in a higher relative uptime of dps cooldowns being up.

Furthermore, once you get to 72 you get dreadwyrm trance 50% more often, which allows you complete mobility.

/shrug

The class plays like ass but I didn't find it a struggle to level with.
