No, keep ff its own concept
No, keep ff its own concept
This game defenetely requires in the Inventory a huge quality of life improvement
1. Weapons and Tools shouldn't be put together, the game has simply too many classes for such a retarded outdated system, that was designed under ARR as a measurement, not under Shadowbringers with like half a dozen classes more...
2. Same should be done with Gears and Accessoires
3. Inventory Space of our bags needs to be increased from 175 to like 250, for example be stop wasting space for somethin idiotic like quest items, quest items should just be in an invisible bag, useable stuff like the compass or maps, should be put into some kind of Toolbelt Skillbar Segment that one of the many we can have should be turned into, to be able to quickuse these things without needing to open the inventory.
4. Companion Bag should raise in size with each companion level by 5 Slots.
5. The tons of trash items this game has, needs to get reduced, theres alot of outdated stuff, that should be either removed from the game, or reworked to receive new puposes to make the items valuable/useful again
6. Things like fishing lures should be put into container items, that you can open and close for basically "sub inventories", so that like out of 50 lures with full slots, becomes just 1 slot, which contains 50 Lures, this way can be massively space saved up for other things to store.
7. GW2 is on this a perfect example, FF14 needs an Account Chest System to allows player to storage into it all kinds of crafting materials, glamours ect, so that you dont have to run around with alk this stuff with you, if you craft something would take the game automatically everything needed from your Account Chest, if you have what is needed, its just a way better designed and much more comfortable system, compared to what FF14 has looks like made by a scrub, who had no idea about what he's doing and what kind of inventory management is neccessary for a MMORPG, thinking about it what a disaster 1.0 was, I just believe the same person must have been responsible for this inventory mess.
8. Changing skins / glamours is there also a much better system without any ridiculous limitations, as also the dyeing system is there a thousand times better and more modern techlogically, as also simpler to use, than the garbage mechanics here, where the very few colors we have are all inventory trash, instead of being just chooseable colors you've unlocked for your account.
In regard of quality of life is GW2 compared to FF14 miles ahead in regard of inventory management, character customization with skins and colors as also crafting/gathering management with materials too.
MILES AHEAD
SE should really take a close look on this Game to see, what can be improved on FF14 based on those massive game quality difference, to realize where FF14 is significantly lacking, compared to the game concurrence on the market of the other well doing AAA MMORPGs.
I agree, while it is slightly justifiable by them bringing you worthwhile items that can generate a lot of gil, this is pretty bad. ESPECIALLY as MB slots are also tied to these. Seriously, I can't fathom how someone can do with just 40 MB slots...
The space in GW2 is a bit imaginary. You cannot add more items once you have reached the limit for a particular crafting item. Regular storage space for anything other than crafting items is severely limited -- both personal and (sometimes shared account) bank space.
That, and GW2 crafting is a bit underwhelming until you reach the higher levels. Oh, and your character can't pursue more than two active crafts on a single character without paying money for them.
There is also a tendency to forget that if you belong to an FC in this game, there is absolutely no need to put most of the lower level crafting items (pre-level 40s) with your retainers, since you are able to purchase the basic items (iron ore, cotton cloth, etc) from a materials vendor. At one point, I found three slots taken up with animal skins for which I (a) had no real use (b) could easily convert into HQ leather because of skill level (c) could have obtained cheaply from a materials vendor in the unlikely event I needed HQ leather at some point as a level 70 crafter.
< forgot to add this earlier>
And, most importantly, once you have used a crafting material the finished product can no longer go into that Account Chest, regardless of whether it is intermediary (soles for shoes, for example) or not.
Haven't said that everything there is perfect either, bit in regards of storaging stuff, inventory management, inventory space, even if you have to pay for it, but it cost alot less, than for example here a mount or outfit, and gives you more comfort, as you can, if really neccessary increase the size of your Account Chest, how many bags your character can carry and the amount of units per material type can be increased, which are just functional one time buy upgrades for your account, and not something you have to pay for monthly just to keep it.
Yes, crafting isn't the best there, one reason why I came here, because of that, however, it wasn't my point, which game has the better crafting system, but in stead which one offers the better quality of life within it's gameplay mechanic, and there I still see GW2 miles ahead of FF14
GW2 has up to 4 dye slots per item, FF14 only one and even that just only for either limited content for raiders , or by upgrading equipment. In GW2 is none of this bs required just to color your characters as you like, only thing you need is unlocking the color.._
Colors, GW2 offers hundredsof colors to dye your gear there, FF14 offers only a few dozen and they are inventory clutter here always, in GW2 just only as long you haven't unlocked it, from then on never again.
In GW2 you can put all materials with 1 click into your account chest to clean up your inventory of stuff that you don't need to have with you in your inventory, here in FF14 every single trash item clutters your tiny inventory full, many things aren't even sellable, recyable or tradable and just have to be thrown away if you have no need for it or eventually can't use it, due to gender lock, or wrong class stuff.
The more classes you play and SE adds, so worser can become the inventory management and it can't be good game design, when players get forced literally to play a game a certain way just to be able to manage all this inventory clutter, without ever running out of space or abusing the FC chest every now n then as basically immergency way to load out some stuff for that you haven't temporarely enough space.
Not to mention that changing your looks there is much easier due to all item skins bein unlockable for your account without any stupid limitation therd of many skins/glamours you can save maximum, there is every item you possed and unlocked just permanently accessible and changing looks is always possible without that you have to manage anything abot that due to there bein no silly limit, ynlock the skin simple, done and change the look to it whever you like without ever fearing, you could run out of space to collect more.
Its basically just a superior database system onto which GW2 has been build on, that is able to save more account data and information of our characters.
I dont know how big most likely the difference of data load is between a GW2 character and a FF14 character, but I just guess, that of the GW2 characters withbthat much QoL is alot bigger, what would mean SE would most likely have to improve their servers to make the things GW2 already has possible for FF14, which in return is I guess, alot of money that SE just doen't want to spent for this 6 year old game, at least not now anymore for the current gen of crossplay with the PS4.
Maybe somewhen in the future of crossplay with the latest PC gen and PS5, when the technological next upgrade of this game stands before us and PS4 support ends to continue with it on PS5
But thats all now just theorycrafting ;)
Ps: same as much as like Yoshida P has mentioned a few months ago in an online magazine interview that he'd like to improve the graphics for FF14, also something we all have likely to wait for on PS5 to arrive and PS4 support to end, because then there no hurdle anymore from stopping him to do that, and i'm pretty sure thats not the only technical hurdle there is, which stops currently the game of potentially being better, than it is now.
Well, you'll just have to accept that GW2 and FFXIV are two different MMOs written by two different companies with differing design philosophies. Each has a unique history -- most of the design philosophy for Final Fantasy 14 was developed years before Guild Wars 2 came out. Of course they're going to be different. Of course they're not going to make major design changes at this point.
Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV, WoW, Blade and Soul, Guild Wars 2, Wildstar, Lord of the Rings Online -- they've all had playstyle and in-game lifestyle differences that could (or would) never be incorporated into the other MMOs. The developers can provide new Quality of Life changes, but cannot radically revise the basic underlying code base. At that point, you write another game entirely or leave the current one on life support, which is what happened with GW2 and LOTRO (and Wildstar until they shut it down entirely).
That game is set up and coded differently. That game had the style tab, this game has the glamour dresser (which they said that takes up so much "space" and would cause things to be "weird" (Im assuming they meant crash or cause other unforseen issues) if it was in certain spots (one of the reasons we dont have one to put in our housing system, it would interact with all the individuals near it therefore causing a problem). The style tab in DCUO might work on a similar principle but at the end of the day all items in that game (minus hair options if memory serves) are worn by both genders when in this game it does not work that way (one of the reasons why the armoire and glamour dresser aren't coded the same, those two work on different "set values" because specific items go in the armoire and everything else can be random from glam dress to glam dress).
That's not to mention all the other reasons that complicate the coding of trying to set up a system that similarly exists in DCUO to this one.
Although even though there are a lot of better styles and art in this game, I do miss the DCUO style tab, having to not go to a cutscene every time to get my hair done would be amazing.
This game has more free inventory space than any other game I know for less money than World of Warcraft.
Only because you can deal with your space doesn't mean it's a working system guys... Like kaiserdrache explained with numerous examples, ff14 inventory system is a big joke. I wouldn't even be sure about the data load tied to a character being bigger on gw2 than ff14 despise doing way less visible to us.
Idk what's there to defend, marketboard, retainer and inventory management are still the most annoying features to deal with in this game.
I could login and spent 1-2hrs just on inventory management with selling what is worth something, trading in for gc seals, converting gear to materia, throwing away junk, double checking gearsets, desynthing. Checking if you already own the item elsewhere.. Just sorting as if it's a job than a game xD
Then you do one dungeon and get orchestrion scrolls, dyes, prisms, potions, maybe even mob specific loot, gear, crafting materials, tokens, triple triad cards. You get flodded with items wherever you go.
But why fix it, if people buy retainers. Not fixing, means more money...it's not even permanent like in most other games, it's just an extra monthly sub for inventory space...
Or deal with items as you get them instead of waiting until your inventory is completely full so you have no choice. If it's taking you 1-2 hours to sort through what you have, you're doing something terribly wrong.
I have yet to play a MMORPG where inventory management wasn't a part of the game play. For that matter, I can't think of any single player RPGs I've played that didn't also require some extensive inventory management. I was always rapidly at a point where I need to sell off or discard part of my inventory to make room for more valuable items.
Giving you more inventory space isn't going to solve your problem. Learning to manage your inventory better will. Get rid of those items you don't have an immediate use for. There's very few items so rare that they're worth holding onto just in case you might decide you want them letter. The vast majority can be easily farmed if you decide you want them later.
Yes, inventory management is a part of every MMO, but so is giving players tools to do that management. I don't really find the dev's tired refrain about data storage/transfer very compelling - it feels like incompetence. The personal inventories, retainers, mail, and company chest of this game are all clunky, inefficient, and inadequate when compared to other games. That's just...a fact as far as I see it. Organized players can mitigate some of the impact of these poorly-implemented features, but not all of it.
Really? Because there are quite a few that don't require any inventory management at all. Many from Square Enix.
But I don't think anyone is suggesting our inventory space here should be unlimited. MMORPGs do involve some degree of inventory management; that's been a thing forever and isn't likely to go away. The issue comes from the game design. Games with class shifting have to deal with this all the time. Some of them handle it by making stats generic and applicable to all classes. Some classes may need more of one thing than another one does, but no stat would be completely useless to any class. FFXIV handles that with the armory chest which kind of works (if you squint). The real issue is the crafting classes. By making every craft a class and higher levels of crafting still making use of lower tier items, SE has created an environment where you need to hang on to a LOT of stuff if you do a lot of crafting. This is compounded by the fact that we have NQ and HQ versions of nearly every crafting material. Now an experienced crafter can work this out and should generally know what they do and do not need to stock, at least at max level. But while leveling? It's a nightmare.
And SE's solution to this is to RENT you bank space; something not even done in f2p games.
