Though were talking about "races" and "species"
The races all seem to stem into humanoid species
So logically they are both race and species, thus they can not produce fertile offspring
so we may one day see a halfling, but we wont be playing it.

I chose Viera as it's an established Final Fantasy race.

That being said, wouldnt mind other races from tactics games (Bangaa, Nu Mou, Playable Moogles) - much different from the current "variation on humans" type races and more standalone.

This thread and consequently my post now make me want to find FFTA to start up a new game. Can't wait to spam to 30 Diplomacy or w/e ._.

Just more options for the existing races please. I'd rather not have new races but if we must then I could live with the Padjal since we already have a couple in the game.

Sounds like they would look very similar to Miqote, I'd rather see a new and different beastmen type race added.

telling you, lizardmen should be THE race. we have enough variety in boring humans.

Miqote look rubbish they are to human like so are the other races really. The game needs something that is much more unique.

You can't go wrong with a Viera Sky Pirate.

Noone said they was going to be female lol. Though I would like to see a male and female variety of each race of beastmen and a Viera race would be cool. Also I hope they add a use for all that beastmen currency in the near future I have been saving all mine. XD

They would have to add male Viera to though.

Also, lizard men defeat the purpose of the 5 humaniod races not being considered beastmen

I would agree with you, if clans meant anything.

The biggest Problem with Race/Clan dynamic in this game is that it means nothing. I don't want Race Specific Stats, but things like Factions or some kind of in game impact would be nice.

Until we get something to that effect, there is no point in making more clans.

I definitely agree that clans should have more real impact in the game, but the one and only thing that clans currently DO impact is more character customization options. So I was really just asking for more customization instead of more clans :)

Agreed, the bottom line with adding a new anything such as race or clan is that customization needs improvemnt first and there has to be a reason other than aesthetics to just add another intelligent race to the game.

Dammit, I think Viera's gonna come out way ahead in the poles. I have to admit, I do love Fran's design from FFXII, and the Viera were designed by the amazing Akihiko Yoshida, who does a lot of the art for FFXIV.

It would be a way to spice up hamlets, if they had clan villages of some sort. Could offer some clan-locked gear there to add a little bit of incentive to visit.

BECAUSE

A) There is no point in a new intelligent race, we need customization and racial quests/storyline, not pointless additions of another pointless race.
B) Beastly looking races dont exactly help the cause of "Garleans think were Beastmen, wtf"
C) I seriously doubt the question in the poll was even geared towards adding another intelligent race
for the most part the were asking about what kind of beastment to add, but everyone is so god damned hyped about Bunnys and lizards being playable they forgot what the main premise was in the first place?

Not nessesarilly. just because its a sexy bunny doesnt mean it will look EXACTLY like a viera or miqo'te
fur, male counterpart facial hair, teeth that make them more beastly. Look at garudas concept art. Shes sexy but shes definately no miqo'te now is she? Even then they could be bunny amazons, we havent seen any concept art have we? Do we know for a fact that they are going to be like miqo'te. NO. That's your opinion. Personally, I would switch in a heartbeat to a beast race, because I'm bored of having the same races FFXI had. In addition, customizations to existing races should be added regardless.

Um... Why? Aesthetics are nice too. They could add 10 whole new races and it wouldn't have any sort of negative impact on the gameplay. I don't see the problem with adding new races just for the hell of it. Sometimes more fluff that doesn't really have any bearing on gameplay is still a good thing, it gives character to the game. It's just not as important as actual content.

Maybe someday far down the road, but from a current development standpoint its irrelevent.

using WoW as a base here, dont flame me. but im pretty sure that they didn't add races til burning crusade, which was what the second expansion? If they ask us about adding a race now, it probably means they want to start working on it, but its not nessesary in the least. Want more variety? Develop more jobs for people to get exited about.

:| But they have moogles in the game already and they're original FF-style, not Ivalice-style at all. If they brought in Ivalice-style moogles, then they should give them a totally different name altogether or else I'd be pissed. It wouldn't make any sense with the game lore.
