Duh RPers cant raid, they spend all their attribute points on speech. Get with it bruh.

I have a question, do you sell stuff on the market board? If you do, how do you price it? Do you over value your time and experience? Do you make it obtainable by 70% of your server? Are progression items available at a price a sprout with zero experience can obtain?
If you price out sprouts and casuals, the option to buy RMT goes higher, then they buy it and you end up being part of the problem. You then also believe you should get 20k a pop for these items and continue the self feeding loop. End game crafting gear comes to mind.
This. To new players that don't RP, they hear too many meme's about balmung or rather now crystal as a whole as the RP server and with that, people automatically assume people don't raid.
So with that misinformation, new players or people that believe everything they read head to aether.
While true aether is more raid focused, crystal isn't all RP and only rp. Its just balmung, honestly anywhere else you won't see any RP.
Are you seriously approving the use of RMT right now? And on the official forums no less? Your point is completely worthless anyway because there is nearly 0 reason to buy anything as a new player in this game. Everything is received from tomes and dungeons and the MSQ.
And... did you just say... end game crafting gear? Why in the entire world would a new player need that? You realize there is yellow scrip gear you can earn for 0(zero) gil right? And by the time you are level 70 crafters you should have made enough gil from it to buy them if you are too lazy to make it for yourself. I see we've spotted a gil buyer who wants everything handed to them...
I don't think that's what Mistyregions was saying. The idea that new players don't need anything off the market board is pretty short sighted. Yes the game gives you gear from quests, that you quickly can out level and leave behind. Which makes for buying gear more likely, especially in the ARR content.
I don't know anyone that made money from leveling crafters, if anything they spent gil to level. If you were able to get to 70 on all crafters while amassing a small fortune good on you, but that isn't the case for every person. And as I found out, the end game script gear isn't the best crafting gear because you can't put materia into it.
So? Yellow scrip gear perfectly adequate for a "casual" crafter as mistyregions put it. There's no need at all for BiS crafter gear if you barely even do anything. And honestly, the MSQ gives you 300k gil just to ARR. I'd like to know what a sub 50 player needs to be buying thats more than that, and if you bring up glamour, that is completely not a necessity and absolutely not acceptable to buy gil for(not that anything is). You are making up hardships that don't actually exist.
All the doomsaying over crystal is hilarious now Aether is completely locked and you know they won't let any of those servers become standard again till people move out.
Gonna be fun actually being able to login on release!
So what are the chances we will be seeing free server transfers in the near future to try and balance out the population. I for one would take one, I don't really have anything binding me to my server.
Some nights there are so many people on Midgard that I can't see the MB's in Limsa, and it's not even the Aether server with the most people.
Well, transfers from Congested to Preferred/New servers are free and has been so ever since they introduced the system of Congested/Preferred servers. This together with the bonuses for transfering to a Preferred server is done precisely as an attempt to make the population spread out more.
So in other words - we are already seeing it.
Move from a congested world to a new or preferred world and the transfer is free. Feel free to look it up once Lodestone is out of maintenance though the world transfer service is expected to be down until Saturday so you won't be able to transfer until then.
Don't expect to see another free transfer period like we had in May, though. They never work when it comes to reducing server congestion. Just ask anyone who played WoW on a world that had free character migration. The majority of players were expecting others to transfer off so they could stay put. The handful of players that did transfer were never enough to noticeably improve congestion issues.
You can make serious gil as a level 15 crafter. 2-6 million gil a week on a world like Balmung, for 2hours of daily play.
It comes down to studying the Market Board.
Secondly, if you level DOH/DOLs through the following, you won't be spending so much gil:
Beast Tribes
Collectibles(see what's the cheapest mats/craft depending on the MB)
GC turn-ins. World Visit has made this ridiculously easy. Often you'll get HQ turn ins for less than vendor NQ price
Grinding out cheap low level crafts with FC/GC buffs, manuals and cheap food
Desynth. Often people sell items which can be desynthesized for valuable crafting mats for less than 1000 gil.
Also, I'm using yellow scrip gear for both DOH/DOLs. My observation is that not having crafted pentamelded gear might lock you out of the explosive gil making from the HQ higher tiered star recipes, when at the start of a patch but:
There's plenty of items which are not required to be HQed,non-max level crafts which sell hourly/daily even during content lulls when plenty of people are unsubbed.
Low-medium profits (50~500k) per item/stack but high volume of sales.
Pretty sure the majority of the Aether/Primal servers aren't even congested for real, but SE decided to lock them anyways because of the amount of people that will be returning to the game just because of the expansion. It'll go back to normal in a week or two. I'm almost certain they just locked everything to prevent the servers from melting in case numbers spike too high. Not only that but also to try making people populate anything not balmung Crystal.
in a little over an hour EVERYTHING is going to be 100% congested.
Yeah I can chime in for Goblin as well, been a fun switch seeing more active newbies than afk vets. Do not regret my decision to change at all.
it's +1k queue on adamantoise, rip free trial account
After the initial rush to get in, the queues have pretty much vanished.
Queues were barely a problem on Goblin for me.
Queue spike at launch, none anywhere I can see now (just the typical 10-30 stuff you can skip right past)
I am actually amazed that I have not seen any significant queues on balmung apart from when the server first opened...
