Gotta agree with this, the more information about Hrothgar the more I'm like...I didn't originally want this race...but now I do.
Love the aesthetic of The Lost.

If you can make Viera ears shorter, as in the tips are close to the top of the head, then I think they will be fine for me. Or maybe the bent option is more for me I guess lol. I just expected something different than the 2 eye shadows, beauty marks, and middle of forehead emblem thing, that all the other females get with nothing that seem unique to them for a facial feature. (It seems anyway if this is the finale set of facial features)

Thighlanders get a lot of love. No doubt about it, but I think the perceived dislike for them skews the overall number of players that actually select them for avatars. However, I think a lot of the negativity comes from their animations. I personally find them to be extremely cute and feminine, and don't mind their animations at all. Their voices are also more subtle so combat with them tends to be less annoying than other race choices.

As far as the Viera is concerned, I was never expecting a host of customization that far exceeds what we already have. And if there were, it would just set off a bunch of players who would want an equivalent selection for all the other races. Imagine the riot if they were given a butt slider, holy crap! But I also thinking we're jumping the gun a bit here after seeing just one Instagram pic. But from this picture alone, I do like their round faces, big eyes, and pouty lips. Looking Hyuran is not an issue for me considering they are not a beast race like the Rothgar, and very much what I was expecting with the implementation of this new race.

We're getting the nose, Fran's pouty mouth option, big eyes, etc. I'm not sure how the feet will go and limb length may be tweaked a tad, but they're still pretty close.

They had longer limbs/nails and generally more poised postures, I think the viera look great but they're pretty much just a better looking Hyur, I probably would have liked them more if there was an option to make them look similar to their tactics iteration if applicable.

Again I think they look good as far as textures go, very pretty and demure from what I can see. I don't think people should have expected all that much though, we know they use a lot of bold statements in their advertisements such as "NEW NEVER BEFORE SEEN CONTENT" to advertise eureka, when it was essentially diadem with relic tied to it until pyros.

Overall I'm looking forward to messing with them in the character creator won't switch to one but they look good, really makes me wish they'd give the older models(Elzen, midlander, roe) the same treatment with texture updates.

I don't get what all this complaining is about. I think it's adorable.

Lalafels shave highlander eyebrows to make their glue-on facial hair. The looking fierce excuse is just what you tell yourselves, it is known.

I like em just fine. I have two. However, they are the humans of this game; the "normies". The "differentness" of other races will always be relative to them. So far looks like Viera are the closest to Hyur.

It's something of an illusion that these are unique settings, because it's the same data being used to store different information depending on the race.

All races have an "extra feature" slider that is variably used to alter muscle definition (Hyur/Roegadyn), ear length (Lalafell/Elezen) or tail length (Miqo'te/Au Ra).

All races have a setting with two on/off options and a colour choice - for most it gives them some unique tattoo options, Wildwood Elezen have unique earrings, and Au Ra get the limbal rings.

I've said before, I'm fairly sure the claim that they'll have "more options" is a misunderstanding of the devs saying they would have unique features not available to other races, which isn't the same thing.

As for the ears---miqo'te have the same issue depending on the hairstyle, it can look rather odd when your hair goes one way and your ear...hairs...fur....? Goes an entirely different way

They are too high up and "out", not to mention they're kind of thin so with the angle and lighting it gives her that "duck face" kind of thing (mind you, there ARE actually people whose lips look like that). I remembered Viera with fuller lips and slightly lower on the face so as to not hit the uncanny valley.

The lighting seems to make her lips look a little strange, but other than that she looks great! Looking forward to seeing what other options there are.

My problem with them is from the dancer video. It doesn't look like their ears move at all. If that is true, then I can stick some fake ears from the Gold Saucer on an Elezen since that is what it looks like they did for this race..

To be fair, one has to be Mr Magoo level blind to confuse a Roe with a Hyur. Roes and Lalas have the most unique bodies yet because they easily stand out from being just a Hyur but with -- . Viera, on the other hand, hide her ears and...

That said, she looks cute, but that only strengthens my fear their emotes will incline to 'kawaii' rather than elegant/strong independent warrior that happens to be a woman

I just went through the hairstyles, and it's actually quite amusing how the ears are stitched onto many of the hairstyles. The miqo-only styles mostly do an OK job, but hooo-boy, the others..

Anyhoo, as that does appear to be a Viera-only style as of now, I hope it's not the best example that they have for how the ears attach. It is cute though - just hope they can make it look more natural :X

And their run animation is what many on here have expressed they cannot stand! But I'm over here all 'doot-dee-doo'. I'm not exactly trying to run 100m hurdles in track. Just making my way over to the MB from the aetheryte, lol.

I was torn between Midlander and a Xaela. I am totally jealous of the female Au Ra normal dance emote and their tap foot idle stance, but ultimately went Midlander because I'm not a big fan of tails. I really wish I could have those emotes for her though.

Au ra wasn't even a thought for me. My two choices were always between Miqo'te and midlander. I love the cute feminine races (not that i'm saying Au ra isn't).

I wish we got more idle poses, because i love some of the midlander and au ra idle poses. Like for midlander my favorite is when they hold their hands together in front of them.

The girly midlander trot almost made me make one lol.


But on topic, i never gave my opinion on the viera picture.

I am okay with it, i am not blown away but i think its fine. Some of the reactions i think are a bit ridiculous though. And all the comments on the instagram post asking for male viera are just immature.

No, one would have to be beyond blind to confuse any of the races with a Hyur or vice versa. If you removed aesthetic traits like tails, ears and scales, unless you're just covering your eyes you can tell which is which. Even attempting to claim otherwise is feigning ignorance for god only knows what reason.

The running animations are always the largest wall for me because it's the one animation you'll be seeing most of the time. It's the primary reason I can't get myself to keep to an Elezen (of which I'm in another phase of playing for a week and going back to lizard again, lol.) I can even tolerate their physique because I can just adjust my glam to fit around that, but that run is a big OOF. I agree that I'm not a huge fan of the tails, but it's certainly lower on the peeve list, more so are the emotes. I WISH I could trade them out for maybe Elezen or Highlander's lol.

For the given pic of the Viera; it's obvious those lips are the same for every race. Usually it's the 3rd option with they're wide but thin, some race's face options give them duck lips as well, it's nothing new. The option for eyelashes is an interesting thing, though. I'm wondering how apparent they'll for other eyes. But I am thankful they get to have bushy eyebrows!

Why is everyone picking on the one part of the character creator that adds the least to your characters appearance? Like, for real. Its eye shadow, eyebrow changes, and other things that don't interfere with the tattoos/facepaint and other parts.

You should be complaining about the actual facial parts, like faces, jaws, ears, eyes, that stuff, you know, that we haven't seen yet.

Likewise with a Miqo'te for me. I've just never really desired to be one despite how cute they are. Au Ra can definitely be cute. I think Cirina is one of the most adorable NPCs in the game, though the demeanor of her and the other Mol are more like the Raen than the Xaela. Aesthetics is only part of the equation when I choose a race. Lore has a lot to do with it, and bias does too. The Au Ra being dragon-like and the Xaela always beating each other up gives them a boyish charm I can't seem to resist.

One emote I absolutely love with the female Miqo'te is their angry one where they point both fists downwards and their tail shoots straight up, and their ears draw back a little bit too. If their ears would move around independently when in idle pose, I just might have chose one then xD I definitely agree and wish we had more idle poses. I can't wait to see what the Viera have in store when it comes to all of this.

If the Dancer video is anything to go by, Viera are going to have normal human feet, just like everyone else (only their RSE gives them crazy heels).
