offering to stay is not enough, you would have to offer the other 7 people that you would come back on other days to make new parties when this one disbands. because it most certainly will disband before all 8 people get theirs.
Loot master has always been something I go to when I want just one totem, then bail. I never really minded farming but I greatly dislike someone having control over loot. You say you have the best intentions and that’s great but many others don’t. So that’s why it’s shunned so much and you have to accept that fact.
LM dog runs are a sham as the odds of more than one person getting a dog before the group falls apart are abysmal at best. Regular RNG is the fairest way. If everyone got the clear, everyone should have a chance at the mount if it drops.
"But I've lost the dog __ many times!!!" is a weak defense. Everyone gunning for a dog is in that same boat rn.
Lootmaster is a scam. If you join after the 3rd member its highly unlikely you will get a dog. Even as the 3rd or second member its unlikely.
Considering on average it would take more than 99 runs to get 8 dogs in most of the fights, I'd wager it's just simpler to not try to get something for everyone, worry only about yourself but without the use of Lootmaster.
It's pretty simple... People won't get all 8 in a single run. Now, if I'm doing a doggo farm with my static, we'll do a pre-queue roll to decide what order it goes in, and I'll set up an excel spreadsheet to track who's got it or not, and make sure everyone gets it. But that's static only. In PUGs, it doesn't matter how well you intend it, it WILL fall flat on its backside. Best off just rolling with the RNG. If it takes you 10'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000'000 runs to get it, well, that's harsh luck but you can either keep trying, or stop at 99 and wait for totem purchases.
The shameful part about join-order dog farm parties is being the 8th person to join and expecting to get something, I'm amazed they ever manage to fill.
Join-order farm parties are definitely a bit scummy, but even if I'm never gonna make one myself I won't fault anyone who does, as long as they mention it in their PF comment and stick around until the group starts breaking up. People know the score when they join a join-order lootmaster farm, I'm not gonna get mad at someone who's completely transparent about their dog scheme and manages to get 7 people to bite.
Agreed, not everyone is gonna get a dog. Even with good intentions, only the first couple people MIGHT get one. Leader would be sitting pretty.
Granted, I have joined loot master bird farm parties before, and everyone was honest in it. Stayed till the bitter end. Everyone got something, sometimes it does work. Dogs with their drop rates, nah.
look, its not right for people to harass you, and yea I'm sure you aren't "scamming" people. but seriously you talk about being "mature, kind, professional, *HELPING OTHERS*", and yet... you still get the first mount.
you wanna be kind, mature, professional, and help people? state in your party finder that you will get your mount LAST. You're hiding behind some misguided sense of morality, you are still in fact putting your wellbeing and your rewards above 7 other people. you wanna be more like the Japanese servers? Offer other people the mount first.
and you know why you haven't offered to get your mount last? cause you know, that you will never get it...
and that, is what makes 90% of lootmaster parties inherently selfish. I will be delighted to see one day a party leader offer to get their mount last, and I challenge YOU to do just that.
So why are putting yourself on top of the list?
When everyone stays in the party till everyone has their mount, then there is no need for lootmaster and being on top of the list, because everyone will get the mount regardless.
And here comes your optimism into play: So you start a lootmaster party, put yourself on top of the list, say "everyone gets a mount", but in reality only 2 or 3 people will have a chance - and you know that, because why would you otherwise start a lootmaster party?
It is maybe technically not a scam, but you are abusing the fact that the party will fall apart before everyone gets a mount. But of course you did nothing wrong, because you was not the first one who leaved.
I think this is called a confidence trick.
Party disbands after one person gets a dog anyway
Loot master or not
