It was also obvious with how sparse things got during HW when they put FF XV as their priority to get it shipped. After it was released FF XIV got a little better. Connection? I'd say so. And I'm sure it's ongoing since XIV is lacking in more than a few areas despite the fortune I'm sure the game makes from the Mogstation daily/monthly.

I was logged out at the time but I was very aware of that last hit on the servers due to pingplotter. Someone was kind enough to copy paste everyone that disconnected, on discord.

Utterly sick of this. Do something about it, or do something to recompense players whose time has been wasted due to these issues.

If your crafting when it happens you loose everything and if your in duty you get a penalty for leaving it because of not being able to login again in time. They need to fix them really tired of waiting 10 minutes to just login again. Maybe they should move there servers back to Canada shows they get very few ddos attacks there.

If you get autokicked from a duty for being inactive for 10 minutes, you don't get a penalty for it. I've been there. Crafting sucks though, losing mats.

The servers are being DDoS'd right now, on the primal data center. My party was in the burn, and we all lagged badly and got disconnected, and I'm unable to connect to the data center now. :/

I'm on Aether and got disconnected, and unable to get back into the server lobby where my characters are. Fun times.

Aether exploded again. Entire static disconnected and we keep getting lobby errors when we try to log back in, so we just gave up for the night.

Was having trouble getting lodestone to load as well, and after about four lobby errors after a massive DC wave on Bone Dragon in LotA, I just give up on the game for the night.

From what I’ve heard, JP also got hit. So I’m guessing all the servers went down.

EDIT: Managed to get past the lobby server, but I’m in a queue.

EDIT 2: I was in the game for maybe a minute or two and poofed again.
I’m just gonna go read.

This is the first DDoS I have personally witnessed, and the novelty is very quickly wearing off.

I've seen it happen before both with FF XIV and WoW. It's...definitely not a fun time, that's for sure.

Nah, if they really cared they'd be taking action against their crappy data center for not protecting themselves better. I've played plenty of other MMOs that had to deal with DDoS attacks, and guess what, none of them lasted for WEEKS. Things were usually fixed up and stable within a couple days at most.

Seems like it. This is also not the first issue I’ve seen tonight. At one point a couple hours ago, myself and a number of other members of my fc were all disconnected at once, and a little after that I experienced some pretty intense lag in a pvp instance, so I kind of figured it was coming. :( Still annoying though.

DDoS attacks aren't really as simple as building a digital wall. Preventative measures can be taken, sure, but when there's so much data clogging up the connections there sadly isn't a whole lot that can be done other than to wait it out. You should probably understand the nature of these attacks. They are very, very difficult to fight back against. I'm sure they've only gotten more advanced over the years as well.

Some people just like to bask in their ignorance and blame the people they feel like. I have given up trying to teach, since no one learns. A lot like trying to help people improve in game, as it were. Huh.

Every big name mainstream MMO has had weeks to months of DDoS attack issues. So either you do not remember these instances on your other MMO's, or did not play them long enough to experience them, or the other MMO's you played were small and as such only experienced DoS attacks which are far simpler to resolve.

Its really irksome when people feel the need to post all over about how easy it is to fix things when they have no actual knowledge of what is happening.

....What fantasy world are you living in where you think people creating several internet proxies and having them continuously sending massive packets of misinformation to delay and bog down the server has anything remotely 100% failsafe in protecting against it? You can't protect against it and the only thing you could do is have several back-up servers to continue running and hope those don't get DDoS attacked too.

There's no simple solution besides grinning and bearing with it like everyone else does.

Well, feel free to join the other MMO's where this happens still because you'll never escape it, even places like PSN and Xbox Live get hit with DDoS, Google and Amazon.com as well.

Aye, I was just reading about it, and there's many different forms of DDoS, and different ways it can be done. Also, apparently people can pay for DDoS services, so if there's a group of people mad at FFXIV for what ever reason, they don't even need advanced tools to DDoS, they can just throw money at it.

I have found the FFXIV servers, (when they're not being DDoS'd)are some of the most stable that I have ever played in MMOs, especially considering where I live.

It literally took me 15 minutes to tend my two gardens because the DC icon was toggling on/off. I didn't even bother waiting to get booted and just logged out for the night. Because I tend to go a bit batty when the game is like this, I find it best to just log off and throw on a movie or something to prevent flooding my house with overreaction. The frustration of trying to play/log in during these kind of attacks is just too great for me to handle, so I just close the shutters and wait out the storm. Hopefully it passes soon.
