Only a certain group of Au Ra is self-exiling. Most of them are living in/with Clans in Hingashi, or working for the noboes there.

i wonder what the LB3 will be like for a Gunblade job
like will it just encase the party in a bullet?
New jobs? I'm far more worried about what skills they are going to prune from the existing ones.
But Dancer is guaranteed. Lyse referenced in the SB MSQ how her dress was worn by Yda, who was one of the last dancers. Expect a revival of the "lost" art with Ala Mhigo's restoration. Because long lost and dead jobs from ancient times always make a return in this game.
[/COLOR] I'm really not a fan of the "just add bunny ears and you'll have a Viera!" comment that always pops up. It's completely disregarding the fact that all races come with distinct facial features, body shapes, emotes, lore, etc. With the pictures you posted, one could say the same for your Ivalice moogles. I mean, they're practically Lalas with bunny ears slapped on, right? /s
It's true VIera can be more than just humans with bunny ears.
Looking at the au ra concept art vs what we go though, I don't trust SE to deliver anything more interesting than that. Sure they'll have unique faces but I don't expect anything all that exotic or out there.
I thought the Ivalice moogle design was explained away in game, or was I mistaken? I think it was during the quest leading up to the lighthouse raid, one of the nonessential npcs mentioned how moogles looked completely different in their plays. I took this as the tactics/XII moogles were just their interpretation of what they looked like.
As far as a lion race being included, wasn't there a lion-ish race in XII?
Yeah, I hear ya. If Viera do get released, I'm expecting something more cutesy vs. XII's style, but time will tell. In my perfect scenario, they would give us both in the forms of the different clans but I'm not holding my breath on that one :X
Also, I'm really hoping that Dancer makes it into game as a healer. i always liked the job in XI, and while I realize that playstyle tends to change dramatically between XI and XIV, I still think it would be really fun to see implemented here.
Plus wings and a pom. That's a little more complicated then just slapping bunny ears on. Especially when retroactively fitting all previous sets of armor for the Moogles. For the Viera, the only thing to Devs would have to worry about is the ears clipping through headgear. There's a clear disparity in the effort involved in adding the Ivalice Moogle vs the Viera.
I had added the /s at the end as I don't agree with that argument in the first place and the comment was tongue-in-cheek. Viera are not simply hyurs with bunny ears (and clawed hands, unique feet and tail), just like your moogles are not simply Lalas with bunny ears (and a pom and wings).
You say your comment was tongue-in-cheek but your mad I'm ignoring it now? Okay...
But if the point was that Viera are complex and you talk about tails, and I see no tails in the artwork, then how seriously am I supposed to be taking your tongue-in-cheek comments?
Geezus. The sarcastic bit was about tactics-moogles being the same as Lalas with ears slapped on it. However, if we're doing this, your original post did clearly ignore every other racial difference that a Viera has to offer, and you simply boiled it down to it being " the easiest to implement (just add rabbit ears!)".
So yes, per my original comment, I really dislike when people pull the "it's just <basic race with animal parts tossed on>" because that's not true at all. I also found it quite humorous that after your comment stating more or less the same sentiment, you went on to push for tactics-moogles. I mean, they're both short and have pear shaped bodies. Practically identical, right? Also, that was more sarcasm.
They Viera very very little racial differences from everyone else. I think you made up the fact that Viera have tails to make them sound complex and that hurts your point. I'll concede they have claws, along with the bunny ears. Still hardly impressive sounding to me.
That's fair, but there are 2 holes to poke :P The first is that in their national story, they were persecuted and forced to leave other lands, and settled where they did because they had too, meaning they came from more aether rich locations originally. The second is that even in aether soaked areas, known Garleans (Cid, Nero, Lucia, Gaius, Nael) are incapable of magic. The only way they have magic in their army at all is through conquering other groups.
That would most likely refer to the rare individual rather than a rare choice, meaning lorewise, it wouldn't make sense to suddenly have thousands of black mages running about, draining the land of aether (as Black and White mages in mass are almost as bad as primals).
To this, I'd say [almost] every human on Earth is perfectly capable of reading and writing. However, they usually have to be taught the skills. Moreover, if you think you are completely incapable, you might not seek that knowledge in the first place. Or, as I said, the magic is wholly different (black magic and white magic being discovered in the fifth astral age - thousands of years after Allag fell and summoning was already lost). The lore has already been set up as to why we don't have X class with a simple 'the knowledge was lost, but survived with individuals in possible remote locations.'
All I am saying is I am not discounting Garleans because the knowledge we have is just limited enough to be explained away easily in a couple of story expansions. If it doesn't, it doesn't. If it does, well w00t, we get to play half baked Ascians.
Expansion:
- I’m with people on Blue Mage, Dancer, and some sort of Magitek class.
- Viera seem like they are also 90% going to happen. Yoshi P has also been refusing to talk about new races of late, and not just in one interview. For the past couple of months he has declined to comment on them every single time. Normally he’s extremely open on commenting about anything, even if it’s his disgust. For him to have no comment on it seems like an order from someone. It’s likely his marketing team. Viera also are not just hyur with horns. Putting cat ears on a Hyur, wolf ears on a Miqote, or horns on a Hyur does not change the species.. you just look like that races body shape with an add on. Remember that Padjal are technically hyur who grow horns. It doesn’t change them! It makes them Hyur that have some sort of an analmity.
- Ronso might be real, but they could just get demoted to a beast tribe. While I hope that’s not the case, I wouldn’t completely be disappointed. I do really want a beast race, but I wouldn’t mind doing quests for them.
Beyond:
- Lupin would be a great choice for a second Othard expansion. They don’t seem like a beast tribe at all. They’re widely distributed, and mixed in with the Domans.
- I would like more small races, but not for it to be the Viera unless we get two clans of different styles. Tall Au Ra + Viera + Ronso + Lupin would mean that more than half of the races are tall.. we need a couple of new short to medium sized ones.
I'm just gonna leave this right here.

Definitely would be okay with Viera and Ronso
I wonder if ronso will stay beast like or just be Au ra with more scruffy hair maybe even body hair instead of scales
Bothe would likely loose their animalistic feet/hands so the devs wouldn't need to remake all the footwear to account for them being in the game. From what I remember Trolls being in WoW helped minimize stress on making footwear for draenei, worgan and to a degree pandaran. We don't have such a thing to work with form the start. I could almost seeing Ronso becoming a beast tribe if not playable.
