[4.4 Raid Spoilers] Omega's Origin Is Nuts

One thing for sure, I hope Cid won't be featured for the next raid quest, his character arc has come to the peak now he needs to return to Garlemand proper to complete his story arc. Also wouldn't be bad for having new faces in the raid questlines

If separation of Zodiark/Hyd caused a split of the source into 13 dimensions, do other planets have similar struggles? We are led to believe that the division of 2 gods is what created our planet, so other planets perhaps are formed also in a similar way...so are they also forming 13 shards when their gods split? With the revelation of there being extra-terrestrial planets, it begs the question of how those worlds formed and also that hyd/zodiark are only local gods, not all-powerful creation gods of the universe as we have been led to believe. Kinda of defeats the sense of urgency of our quest to stop Zodiark. If the outcome would only affect our world and other worlds would be unaffected.

Not really... We have no way of leaving Hydaelyn, if we don't stop whatever terrible thing that's meant to happen, we're still screwed even if there are other planets... That's like saying Global Warming doesn't matter because there are other habitable planets hundreds of light years away. It's also probably worth noting that the only other two planets we know of having any life, seem to have destroyed each other, I took Omega losing his home signal as an indication of that at least, rather than the "local interference" he mentions, and Middy straight up left because his planet was getting destroyed by the war. Every other planet Omega passed by either didn't seem to have life, or he straight up says they're dying worlds... Probably best to preserve this one if we can.

Based on Omegas travel log though, I imagine other planets don't have this issue. Hydaelyn seems to be comprised of all elements, where as Omega specifically passes planets with a singular element, I imagine they have no such shard phenomenon as a result, there was not Light/Dark schism to create such. Heck, Hydaelyn and Zodiark might even be unique. They formed on the planet somehow, split all the aether equally (so they're basically Primals?) but then eventually started fighting and caused the shards to form in the process. If other planets had no such entities come into being, then they'd not have the same thing happen.

Thinking about it... I wonder if the whole Flood of Darkness/Light thing is really a threat for the Source... If we're in "real" space, and the shards are just pocket dimensions, then would a phenomenon that occurs in the pocket dimension be something that can be replicated in the "real" world? The Floods would just be something like those dimensions collapsing in on themselves I imagine, in either a Light or Dark manner. I suppose it could just be something that happens to planets, Omega passed a Vortex Planet, for example, maybe that is the result of a Flood of... Wind...

I'd like to point out, the division of the two gods is what created our planet AS IT EXISTS NOW. The Ascians imply that they want to return things to they way they USED to be - which probably wasn't an empty, planetless void. Most likely, before the conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark, there was a planet there not dissimilar from those Omega and Middy called home. Did Hydaelyn or Zodiark create that planet? This is not known. It could simply be the world from which H and Z originated.

One thing that DOES seem to be unique about this world is the Thirteen Reflections. If Omegahome or Middyhome had anything like that, they haven't said anything about it. Because the Reflections seem to be a local phenomenon, it's likely that things like the Voidsent do not exist on other worlds.

Oh I can understand that they dont always just state "its my opinion" but sometimes its just felt like it is a fact in the way they say it (but maybe I interpret too much because its not my mother language) and when someone answers a question if this is true with a yes then it kinda feels like it is a fact for them otherwise they could have stated that the game hints at it thus making it more of a speculation.

I just wanted to know the views of other people because it could have been a fact (maybe missing some informations).

It will be interesting to see how this will all turn out. In my opinion I still believe, that Hydaelyn as the crystal exists in a different plane of existence thus her split with Zodiark could have been there too thus creating the dimensions where each one has their own version of a universe. Because if its just local I have a hard time imagening their lifes. Would they not have any stars and planets in the sky because if its only local, only the planet should have been split? What about a sun? Or would they see our source universe but with no way to really interact with it?

Seeing how certain characters do ask themselves what would happen to life if the Ascians win, then I do wonder if there was truly any life before it. Because if it was, why should our existence (at least on the source) really hurt them? But at the same time if Ascians already existed before that than life existed before that too. Maybe the banishment made people mortal which the Ascians dont like?

About Middy and Omega not knowning about dimension of their own world: It could be explained that they simply did not know that dimensions do exist. If they are from the source universe then they have probably never traveled to any other dimension, thus did not know about their existence. And later when Middy made the contract with Hydaelyn he may have gotten bigger insight but since he was sleeping mostly he may not have shared that knowledge either. Sadly we cant ask him this directly anymore.

When talking about lore, I've found it's much easier to do so with text then in videos. In a text format, you can do things like copy/paste the game script that is being referenced, which helps a lot with differentiating what is actually said in the game and what out-of-game conclusions are being drawn from that in-game source. Video format has a natural time constraint to it, so it's much harder to naturally include the parts of the game that are being talked about. Links to references like Garland Tools (for quest data) are also a lot easier to incorporate in text format.

It's also impossible to see all potential reads on a given part of the game, so no video is ever going to be able to cover all those points. The inherent structure of a forum naturally helps everyone talk at the same "volume", which a video made by one person lacks.

Probably just tossing out radio signals to see if anyone picked up. Unless the Ascians decided to tell them exactly when and where to point the thing at any one time.

Well, we know the Allagans had space ships. I can see them sending them out and needing to communicate with those.

Also, if the Ishgardians can figure out that the Dragonstar indicates what the Dravanian Horde is doing, I have to think the Allagans noticed something similar about it with the Mercydian Horde. There's no way they wouldn't have looked into what the Dragonstar was...

It turns out that the villains were alines all along because.......TRIGGER!

Maybe Xande in a moment of lucidity also thought that why conquering a single planet when there are more to discover and conquer? but then went all BWUAHAHAHAHAH I'LL DESTROY EVERYTHING

That's an excellent thought, that I had never considered. Yes, even if the Allagans never did any deep space exploration, they WERE communicating with Omega, and thus likely learned that it was from another star. It's not at all unlikely that they put some research into trying to contact Omega's homeworld. Given how long Omega had been traveling (and the thousands of years it was likely dormant before the Allagans revived it), and given that it was a civilization that was willing to create murder machines like Omega, there's no guarantee that there was anyone still there able to receive the transmissions - or, if there was, that they still had equipment capable of receiving the kind of signals that Omega would have taught the Allagans to use...
