Which is your least favorite primal and why?

To me almost all HW primals were terrible But if I had to pick one, in particular, I'd definitely go with Sophia: I think the mechanics themselves are sound, but I hate the falling mechanic because I didn't remember that one orb is two and etc. It didn't fell hard but just annoying. Hard can be exciting, even easy can be exciting, but falling down is just annoying which is not fun so...yep, that's her for now.

Truth be told I haven't did all SB primals so I'm more than excited to see who will replace Sophia!

Mfw I had a Zurvan NM in trial Roulette, and the NM Broken Seal wiped everyone except a healer and the two tanks (I was the healer, and I only lived because I saw it coming and spammed a shield on myself to survive). Zurvan in any incarnation wipes groups.

Least favorite would have to be Shinryu. The fight feels like it drags out forever in not a fun way like Thordan, Nidhogg or other long-ish fights. Other primals, like Mog and Ramuh (and probably Rathalos), were mostly ruined for me because of the players just not listening for some of the most basic of mechanics.

Mechanically a bit of Bismarck and Lakshmi. The first mainly because of those tornados that follow you, so your options are interrupt your casts to run from tornados or interrupt your cast from tornado lifting you and dealing pity damage, it stung a bit extra with how little mobility 3.0 BLM had. The second because it was a duty action tutorial as mentioned before, although the theme and aesthetics were good.

But in terms of bad PF experiences Zurvan wins, soooooooooooo many people unable to do easy mechanics, and it had the most boring primal music out of the entire Heavensward.

Just FYI, on the edges of the island, you could stand there and no tornado goes there. Also, completely dead-center (where the device is), as long as you're 100% PERFECTLY center, you won't get hit by the tornado (the center is by far the hardest to find the perfect spot, otherwise you will be picked up if you're just slightly out of place). You'd only need to move for the bubbles.

For Bismarck, try standing on the north/south edges of the island as a caster, centered earth/west (12/6 o'clock). You'll have much less movement to do - it's mostly only from the water pools that drop on occasion.

My most disliked is Leviathan. A lot of people know you have to hit the shield, but if they haven't seen Leviathan in a long time the apparent timing on hitting it is not super clear. The dash he does across beforehand is different, but people are uncertain if they haven't done it in awhile. Don't want to waste the shield after all. And if waiting till the ultimate starts from his dialogue, too bad - it's already screenshotted as not being up. Adding onto this is competent groups that push at...I think it's 35%? Again, if you haven't been in there awhile, whoops, hope someone remembers that percentage. There's nothing difficult about it, the window of "Ah yea, I definitely need to do a thing" is just shorter than it needs to be. Compare to how long you have during Lakshmi to Vril the transition or how long you have to click Susano's sword.

Then there's always someone making a fuss after a screwup. Well, you didn't do it either, buddy. It's trial roulette, world isn't gonna end if you drop your rotation if you're certain on the timing. Go ensure no wipe instead of hoping the two healers aren't new, etc.

The rest of the fight is meh on normal and I get extra tired of healing the DPS who doesn't understand why they're taking 500 damage every time they hit levi. For me, he also sorta came out of nowhere, but I admit I was just clicking through quests to try and get caught up at that time (2.3 I think?).

Thordan because in story mode he was insultingly easy. You would have to be a spectacularly bad group to even have a chance of wiping.

The recent trend of the Primals to have an intermission phase where not much happens. Byakko falling, Susano QTE, Laksmhi adds.

All done to prevent speed killing.

Eh, I'd have to say Susanoo or Lakshmi, not through any fault of their own, I like the fights myself. It's just that when I get them in trial roulette there's always at least 1 or 2 people that don't learn the mechanics after wiping 3 times. Reminds me of Bismark back in HW where dps couldn't clear the checks fast enough.

Ifrit. Nothing to do with mechanics or anything, it's just that he's just really boring.

Bismark because you don't actually fight him. He's just a combat hazard and soft-enrage bot.

I usually judge a Primal on aesthetics, so I have to say my least favorite is Ifrit. Which is unfortunate, because he's always been my favorite summon in the series. I understand that they probably wanted his design in XIV to be more reminiscent of his followers (the Amalj'aa), but it's just so severely bland and underwhelming compared to the likes of this:

Finally, someone else understands. For what's supposed to be your first primal you'd expect it to have a really well-thought design that leaves a lasting impression on players on what they're up against.
Instead you're greeted with [generic vocal track] which I can't even recall the melody of and this really boring looking demon thing. It's such an anti-climatic moment in my opinion. There are mobs with more detail than Ifrit.

Byakko. The first couple times was fun but I can't stand the 2 minute intermission when falling from the sky.

For a fight you're supposed to do 99 times at most, Shinryu has way too many things going on for me, it's too long and mentally draining.

Cool fight to prog and do once, repeated visits are a chore.

I also don't like how EX ruined the transition by... not having the Royal Menagerie at all? The transition into the Protostar is the coolest part of normal mode but whatever I guess

Odin at Urth's Fount trial.

Reason - it is not in trial roulette. It is a literal shame it is not (or at least I got told so) - the only thing spicy about it is the tankbuster. I wish it was added to the trial roulette list.

From an "aesthic" point of view: Ifrit and Zurvan. Both are those rather boring, red-black demon-like things. As some others I really liked the FFX-design of Ifrit, even though, thinking about it now, almost no other one (that I can recall right now).

Gameplaywise: Bismarck. Even though I think they messed up Ravana even more, seeing how thats actually a fight with mechanics, that could be so easly skipped however that people were doing that 2 weeks after laucnh (and yes, thats exaggerating, but my point it: even though I've played through all of HW and did the fight relatively early, I only had to do the mechanics once - after that... all skip.
For ARR its probably Leviathan with the whole "press this button in time"-thing - specially because you have to wait for the aether to charge. Granted, less of a problem when the fight was current, hella annoying now.

Music: Zurvan. Mostly because I was extremly disappointed that they were no vocals - dont get me wrong, I like the all instrumental pieces, but they make the songs with vocals really stand out and I liked both Sephirot and Sophia a lot for those vocals alone and was eager to hear what they'd do for Zurvan... and then it was... nothing.

Most annoying to farm: For me that was Ramuh - he didnt wanted to give me his freaking pony and was almost impossible to beat in PF-groups, eventually my static farmed him for me and everyone made very sure that I got the first pony that dropped after they had witnessed me spiraling into despair and madness after three weeks of PF/DF-Ramuh.

Back when I was a little newbie, I was scared of Titan and he would have been my least favorite primal - hands down. Such a stressful fight with my connection- and skill-lag... and his weapons are still some of the most ugly ones in the game (depending on the job). I have to admit that I'm also not to fond of his general design.

For me the biggest problem with Zirvan's music is that they gave him two themes. I actually rather enjoy the Phase 3 music but by the time it plays the fight's almost over. Phase 2 is way too short, quiet, basic and repetitive for the track that plays throughout the majority of the encounter.

Zurvan is my least favorite fight just the execution of it seemed flawed especially the “skip soar” stuff that happened. I also didn’t like any of the aesthetics of that fight, of all the warring triad he had to be the most boring fight.

Also just not a fan of shinryu, from a mechanics stand point learning the fight can be fun. However, I just didn’t care for camera angles in the fight to try and see where stuff was coming from. It just wasn’t the fight for me.

There are several reasons why it's not in Trial Roulette. It's one that is harder than normal/hard trials, but easier than Extreme ones. However, it is in Mentor Roulette.

The Einjenhar+Gungnir combo wrecks pugs. It's an unavoidable aoe, then a tight dps check to destroy spears. It becomes very healing intensive because a lot of damage is going out during this time. The bleed debuffs will last and cover several parts of the arena as long as the spears are up. And don't expect pugs to place spears at convienient locations to create safe spots.

In unsynced parties, Valknut is the one that knocks out people who don't want to avoid it. It scales based on one's HP.

You are allowed your opinion, but you know the reason they did her music like that was to show another side to her personality, not a change in it. The gave the example when they mentioned the singer. "She's this sweet timid thing, but put a mic in her hand and she's got this power inside her" or something like that. True both of them suffered, but it was different kinds of suffering. Tsukuyomi was straight up abuse, Shiva's was just the harshness of the world.

And the orchestral version fits what you wanted just no vocals.

As for me, I like doing a majority of these fights, I even did Tsukuyomi and Shinryu on a whim, kinda. But I'd say I hate Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan the most. Their fights just feel more bland in comparison. Titan gets a bit of a pass since he actually has a personality, and isn't "evil" like the other two, but I still don't care for his fight.

- Titan: I love his music but those damn landslides...(I was soo out of that..)
-Ifrit unsynch: I just "love" his wipe mechanic if you DPS him too much. Feels like I am a bit crippled as a DoT Mage in this fight because I always fear that the DoTs would be too much. Also: Oh no, I forget to stop my Egi..

-Bismark: You have a huge whale but somehow you mostly just fight adds and sometimes hit a part of his back..thats it..its just so boring.

I enjoyed much Byakko somehow, like the fight. ^-^

For a long time in 2.0, I hated Titan with a passion... mainly due to the net ping issues at time.

Now its Alexander (his form in Soul of the Creator Savage)... it's presently an easy fight but his space-time moves still irritate me.

This and it's not a terribly interesting deity. Some Primals are too easy to fight or just pop up randomly in the story, like Lakshmi, but they at least have interesting story presence. I liked how unsettling her desire to brainwash everyone was.

Bismarck has both of these problems but none of the intrigue. I remember being utterly baffled when he turned up early Heavensward, only for the entire cast to forget he existed until shortly before Azys Lla.

Yes indeed... add all that to the fact that it was necessary to clear it in order to unlock Coil and you can image my intense frustration with that battle.

Mechanically and aesthetically, Leviathan is my least favorite Primal, which is a shame because he has always been among my favorites in other games. I seem to always get it in my Trial Roulette, too. I despise the arena we face him in. I feel like the potential to create a beautiful battle at sea was so high, but they instead chose this drab and dreary monotone color scheme. I will say XIV has my favorite design for him ever, but then again I think this game has the best designs for most of the other Primals as well.

i don't really have expectations for Primals but I had them for Bismarck, even if i was to just fight adds, i wanted to do it by running on his back.

Sophia and only because i could never find groups to run it with and when finally did get to it was very not relevant. (like 3 or 4 months after release)

Sophia was added when raid finder was added and it was very active in NA, I got all weapons and mount through raid finder. That was the only patch RF was relevant since the following patch added cross world PF.

Hmmm, I like Ifrit's design in this game. Maybe not my favorite, but I do find this design to be better than VII's or Dissidia's. I agree with the preference of the more dog-like Ifrit being the better design, though.

I like IX's Ifrit the most.

Mog Ex back when it was at level. I hated not being able to kill the adds right off the bat.

Hard to say but honestly... I would probably say Susano... like his fight is fine I guess but when you head to Extreme... it's literally the same fight with one new mechanic of "make sure you're on this side of the stage" and then the mechanics are just kinda swapped a little bit... every other Extreme mode has added a new stage or drastically changed the mechanics order or mashed them together to catch you out... Susano is just... Susano

Susano. I don't even know why, I just have hated that fight since day 1. Probably the music. It's not difficulty as it's a fairly easy fight. Second place definitely Bismark as rather than being difficult, it's just tedious to finish.
