As I continue reading this thread, I can't help but wonder when we will be receiving this outfit:

I don't know, it's not something I'd wear, but it'd be pretty funny.
I have a feeling that game would be disqualified.

If you played FFXI, you'd know gear was cool looking (for the most part) but also subtle. There were no giant flashing axes or huge weapons. Even endgame gear looked cool but tasteful. Look up FFXI relic/mythic weapons to see what I mean.
Your ideas for this game are bad and you should feel bad
That's kind of how I felt as well from this thread. This is a long-winded post of someone thinking or pretending that they're super smart for using all of these larger words in their ramblings to project a false sense of superior intellect over something that can be summed up neatly with one sentence.
It's a video game.
We need an army of this.
Comparing XI to XIV is lime comparing any other two final fantasy games, can you picture sahz doing his drive by summons along side zidane? Sure there are going to be similarities but ff is known to be outlandish and creative, if you want a small conservative axe I'm hard pressed to believe that there aren't any glam models in game to fit your aesthetic desires. As a mage I could use a plain gandalf like stick if I wanted.
The game having so many options let's everyone immerse themselves in whichever game type they want. Why try to stifle it?
Yeah sigma, there was just too much effort in trying to over articulate which became even more a problem when op failed to even specify what immersion he felt was broken. I can't even imagine what theme op is after With biker style tank. .. maybe this?

It sounds like singleplayer games would suit you better. Depending on the game, you would have control, and there'd be no troublesome encounters with other sentient life to trigger neuroses.
I went through and cleaned up all my posts before reading the last page of comments, I'll swing back thru and delete this one in a few days but I just couldn't resist...
Ohhh, ohh myyy god this made my day. Edge lord hipster posting thru a could of vape smoke...Quote:
Then again maybe I just don't like the condescending edgelord hipster vibe of this post. I can almost smell the vape clouds attached to all your replies
I've posted a lot of brash controversial content on this forum and I realize I'm being a little confrontational at times - as such I've been called everything from a sexist, to a lonely basement troll (and now a vape smoking edgelord hipster)... I really can't tell if you believe that or you're just parroting somehting from reddit you thought was clever and would get you solidarity likes here. FWIW - I don't vape and I'm way to woke to be a hipster.

You can't afford it.Quote:

You're the second person on this thread to smart shame me.Quote:
This is a long-winded post of someone thinking or pretending that they're super smart for using all of these larger words in their ramblings to project a false sense of superior intellect over something that can be summed up neatly with one sentence.
And you've smart shamed someone else for no other reason, let alone told a user to quiet themselves over their own opinion in incredibly aggressive language that wasn't needed. Don't pretend to be so innocent or that using a broader and round-about way with different and longer words somehow makes you a philosophical genius on the forums. Your other topic went down the drain because you fired back with a tone constantly dripping with condescending and faux superiority when you're just another user...on the internet...on this forum. You're not special.
Any time that someone brings up criticism against your arguments, you question their intellect in snide, indirect ways or that your line of thinking (somehow) is far more important than someone else.
Breaching a subject in which you think the game lacks proper realism or is too "cartoony" does not make you smart. You will not win a Nobel Prize for chiding that a video game of all things isn't real enough for you and ruins your immersion. I mean, for god sake, you're playing a catgirl. Your immersion of reality being separated from fantasy is already broken. If you picked a Hyur, you might have had more of a soapbox to stand on. But, you're literally breaking your own rules.
/smh
So.. rather than add to the conversation you wanted to have, you chose to only address the parts that put you in your feelings. I don't need to think im clever to feel special I made an honest statement about how your whining edgelord posts looked, if you're used to parroting reddit rhetoric yourself I guess that explains alot. The likes on my posts came solely from people who agreed with what I said, not because they were hoping to like something out of "solidarity" that day.
If you've been labeled as all of that perhaps you should put some thought into the image you're putting out. But then again you're "woke" so that explains plenty.
Enlighten me on why you felt so strongly about this to stumble through your overarticulated op, yet when met with any opposing view, you were unable to even add to the discourse? People have all given you counter arguments, and rather than addressing them... you chose to only pick those lines to highlight?
Also .. this is just bad form. You dug yourself into a whole and had to hide all your drivel and then pretend it is normal to delete all your comments in what could have been a fair debate on your complaints. Might as well just deleted whole thread or not replied and let it fade into the abyss.
Serious suggestion: If you're not intrested in debates and oppositions to your... "ideas" and opinions anyways, have you considered using the blog-feature on the Lodestone instead of the official forums and a place thats called "General Discussion", which should be a hint towards what to expect here?
You dont seem intrested in discussion your ideas, so a blogpost might be better suited for them. Afaik you can delete blogs or at least hide them from public view, so this might be a better place for your opinions, if you dont want them discussed or questioned.
I second Vidu and recommend a personal blog. You clearly don't want to discuss opinions different from your own, nor do you truly want to stand behind what you actually think or say. That much is evident by your constant need to delete and edit posts. I wish I'd quoted your OP in its entirety now so that others could see all the nonsense in it, but I think enough of it still remains throughout the thread.
If you aren't going to stand behind the things you say, or if you don't want to debate others challenging your opinion with their own, don't post them on a discussion forum on the internet.
And calm down with the condescension.
A part of the thread topic title might actually suit the OP...considering all things.
Did you wayback machine it?
I was gonna try but was at work.
Agreed you're a saint
Did he leave entirely? His pic is gone
If you mean OP, they're still there for me. If you blacklisted them, however, you won't see their icon if you "show" a message from them, only when they're reblogged by others. Otherwise it might be just a bug. I'm not sure, even if someone deletes, whether or not their icon will disappear.
I think you've seriously misunderstood how Internet discussion works. You don't just throw out an idea, let people debate it until you get bored of it, and then delete the entire thing without even responding to the people who actually wrote good, serious responses to what you were saying - or our best attempt at interpreting it, anyway, because your writing style makes it very hard to sieve out the actual meaning from what you have written.
Once you've put it up on the public forum, it's not just yours any more.
And are you so unwilling to stand by what you have written that you'd rather delete it than have it archived? Why write it in the first place?
In any case, if you do want to write this sort of thing and be understood, and not have people say they don't know what you're on about, have another look at how you phrase things.
For example:
You start off by using a strange term ("cartoonish literalism") and then take two two whole paragraphs to define what you meant by that term. Readers have to try to pick up that "definition" and slot it back into your first sentence - and on top of that, the definition also introduces a new idea that takes another paragraph to explain. (And it certainly needs explaining, because "the inherent or contextual meaning of an axe" sounds like such a nebulous concept I don't even know what you're getting at).Quote:
I think the visual styling and art direction of the game has swung so far in the direction cartoonish literalism that it could be effecting the world immersion/ suspension of disbelief for some players.
What I mean by cartoonish is a lack of realism and relate ability to the fantasy world. While I understand the fantasy world is not meant to have exact parity with the real world I think loosing all association with it cheapens the experience and lessens immersion.
What I mean by literalism is the lack of visual nuance, sophistication and significance of items. Example: an axe isn’t made significant by its inherent meaning, or contextual meaning it’s quite literally just made larger (absurdly so), or it glows and flashes.
My definition of inherent & contextual meaning is an item in the game value/ significance because the community at large is aware of A) inherent: not many items exist that look like that. B) contextual: as a player I know that it took several hour to obtain that.
Each sentence is so long, it's hard to keep track of what you were saying in the first place, even moreso when the reader has to move back and forth through four paragraphs just to understand (or rather interpret) what you were meaning in the first paragraph.
(And after repeated readings, I still can't understand exactly what you are trying to say.)
Meanwhile, a few slips in your grammar (eg. "direction [OF] cartoonish literalism"; "effecting" rather than "affecting"; "I don’t think it’s good for the anyone") make me feel like maybe you don't have a perfect grasp of writing well, or perhaps English isn't your first language - not a terrible thing in itself, but it doesn't match up with the degree of fancy words you are using. It makes it sound like you're only doing it to 'sound smart'. Whether that's the truth or not, it creates an impression to the reader that you may not be as 'intellectual' as you are trying to sound.
Next time people question what you were meaning in a post, clarify it. With simple words for those of us who can't cope with your long ones. Don't just delete the entire discussion because it didn't go the way you wanted it to, or only reply to the people that were rude to you.
Assuming there is a next time anyway. I don't think I'll be putting the effort into responding to your next topic if all you're going to do is delete it when you get bored.
He was like that with the last thread he made too. People had a hard time of figuring out what he was trying to say, most of us got what he was trying to say wrong (I think, I'm still not sure). He also deleted stuff on that one as well, also referred to as "Housekeeping".
