[QUOTE=Xakery;544252 I'm not one to hold grudges, [/QUOTE]
Wouldn't blacklisting someone be the very definition of holding a grudge? Don't get me wrong, you pay a monthly fee, same as all of us, so blacklist the hell out of whoever you want too. But, to me, if I had a falling out with someone, and went out of my way to NOT talk to them or hear what they have to say, thats grudge holding. Again, do what ever you want, I just saw that tidbit and couldn't help but chuckle a bit.
Seriously though, please don't b-list me lol :p
Welp looks like your going to have to write down ALL those names ;) jokes on you "Friend List/Blacklist
All friend list and blacklist data will be deleted during the merge."
When somebody have a very big blacklist it means that the problem lies with him and not the other players in this game.
I don't mean to stir up another fuss, but.
Server merge.

*EDIT: Man, Rokien beat me to it. :< What is this?!*
Well, thankfully I've taken their names to heart. ^^; A few I will write down Mr. Negativity, but I took a name off my list. The player improved substantially from their Ifrit making lame excuse days. If I find people not to be a waste of my time then they get off. That simple.
I'm not the best, but I learn and try to do better every time. I never make excuses. I admit my faults, and get right back in to whooping @$$ or being an awesome Con, where applicable.
LOL its a game have fun with the excuses, I make excuses all the time, when I leave party, die, anything. Just have fun with it, don't get all butt hurt about it.
It's not just for situations where you have a falling out with someone, it's a bit hard to explain. Have you ever ran into someone so stupid that you thought "Damn, it would be nice to blank that person from my FFXIV life."?
If there were some good PvP and you could slaughter them to relieve some of the pressure then yeah I can understand putting up with it, but right now the only effective way to get em is by killing them off in your mind.
I agree with this. Everyone is different and can tolerate different things.
I don't bother blacklisting people who just annoy me.
The ones who make my blacklist are people full of hate. I blacklist homo-phobics, racists, and extraordinarily rude people.
I have no tolerance for those who hate on/hurt others. I have 8 people blacklisted so far. Been playing since open beta.
I think I used it once.
Use it how you see fit IMO.
No, thats totally legit. There is definitly more than 1 reason to b-list someone. I just mean that if you are B-listing someone you deal with on a regular basis, that sort of fits into the grudge holding catagory. B-listing people that are annoying and have no idea your doing it is another matter altogether. I would sorta question though why someone would have a HUGE b-list only a year or so into playing.
It's your blacklist, do what you want with it.
Now, if I am to comment on how/why you blacklist people - seems a little too extreme. I've never used the blacklist feature in the game. If for some reason I end up with a "bad player" in let's say an Ifrit run then it's just a simple matter of "hey guy/gal try not to die that often" or something like that, if after one or two runs I'm still hearing excuses it's "hey, you know sorry but we need to replace you" end of story.
I think the only reason I would use the blacklist would be in case someone attacks me personally and starts saying "bad" stuff. Heck, I wouldn't even care if there were gill sellers shouting in Ul'dah.
At least it'll give people some kind of message to get better.
Good luck to OP once the world merge is complete, you'll have to deal with more people. Good thing you'll have a clean blacklist to fill up again.
Yeah I can see what you mean now, and it seems to me blisting in those situations is kinda reserved for people who think it's a huge insult to be blisted by someone (and they are usually sure to tell you and everyone else that you have been blisted).
Some of us have our blist on a hair trigger. I even go as far as to blist bad players (i.e., if I see a thaum level 50 with no materia and/or VIT rings) pre-emptively, that way I never have to deal with them lol.Quote:

That is terrible..... god hate players like that, why don't you help em out instead of blisting em. What if they have no gil? What if they have no time to play to level up a craft? Why don't ya help em out a bit?
Because when you try to help people they get butthurt and insulted, or they give you the standard "lol stats don't even matter in this game noob", or they are just too dumb to understand. Gil can be easily had starting at level 1 as well, with a bit of studying of the low level gathering/crafting scene.
I see what you're saying though, and I won't deny it's a bit heartless. It's just after playing XI for ages, Aion, and now XIV, you just get tired of trying, or you start trying in other ways.
lol, I've never followed a guide, I will always play my way. That is the only way to play, play to have fun, its a game.
I've never B-listed anyone in game...
If you're happy with having those people b-listed, then be happy. I don't know if I would b-list someone for excuses or incompetence, but I would remember them and avoid doing fights with them lol. XD
Unless they asked me to help them improve! :D
I have a brain injury. I forget shit crazy easy unless I do it over snd over agin. Stuff like Ifrit and moogle was all about repition and stayin g on one job for me. I can now play THM or CON super good and GLA if need be.
Moogle CON onry too many targets moving around 2nd phase. But blacklisting helps me remember jerks when they made me mad. I've been playing since release but Xylia is almost a year (my 2nd character). I only have 1 name on my blist i don't know why he/she/it is on there, but the other 4 i remember well. My life has been simpler since. ^^;
I just hope you aren't blacklisting people of your own linkshell Xakery
You said it Rokien!
I have only one person on my Blacklist, for this very reason.
I was the noob that died consecutively at Ifrit. Why? Because I couldn't play this game for the two weeks following Ifrit Primal Patch as I was away during winter break. When I got back, everyone had so much experience with Ifrit that they were completely intolerant towards me asking questions or dying, to the point of blaming me for their failures, Ousting me from their party, replacing me, and then dieing yet again like the sack of losers they truly are.
I got refused from a number of Ifrit parties because word had spread that I couldn't avoid an eruption and was a big drag on the party. One such lalafell who lacked the decency to make up an excuse straight up told me "you suck dude, you are a noob, nobody wants you in their parties" and this earned him the sole spot on my Blacklist.
One day, someone finally told me to lower my out of game FFXIV Config Graphics/Shadow/Background details from standard to "low" so as to decrease the lag I was experience, and it worked! I dodged eruptions without the slightest problem and now I rarely die at Ifrit. Actually, I rarely do Ifrit, because I got my 7 weapons and people now ask for me to join cus they know I can top their parsers as a THM and/or solo heal on my CNJ, AND I give them totems.
Moral of the story: don't judge people based on their performance, especially at Ifrit. Everyone's been through it: dieing consecutively, unable to dodge eruptions, miss timing nukes etc. EVERYONE. Don't act like an elitist prick. Instead of blacklisting a member of your community for not knowing what to do, try and point them in the right direction and make them stronger.
Other than that, It's your blacklist. Do whatever you want. I don't think you should be looking for other members of the lodestone forums to tell you what you should or shouldnt do.
1) I guess I didn't make it clear. I just get angry with people who are not honest. Instead of saying they have tech problems or they don't know what to do, they make up dumb excuses every time they die or for killing the party. That is in tolerable.
2) I was trying to get a general consensus of how people thought about blacklisting in a round about way.
I will work with a person and do my best to help them understand what to do, but I will not stand for people who do not know what to do and not ask for help or do a primal 3 times and become experts and start wiping the party because they know it all. Better yet, the poor sap that won't admit their failures but make excuses or blame others for their downfall. Call me an elitist jerk, but I just try to get stuff done and correctly.
1. LOL you need to get better at ifrit noob, if you wipe with one person dieing! You can easily take ifrit down with 5 people. That leaves 3 people dead. If you let one person effect your group that much........ well, I think the problem isn't them, it's you.
2. Most of the people said you need to chill out, soo chill out!~
Your words anger me. Generally if one person dies and has hate it coulf mean potential trouble with others in the same spot until the person is raised. I never said it causes wipe or defeat, but could lead to defeat. I too have done Ifrit with jobs that are lol worthy just so they can get the win.
You call me a noob at Ifrit? I play that shit naked, sell my totems and make killer money.
