To blacklist or not to blacklist

My linkshell leader said I have too many for our server, but I think if someone makes me mad enough, they earn themselves a spot on my blacklist. Is that such a bad idea? Does anyone else use that feature?
I just think it is fair. I do not discriminate! I blacklist annoying idiots, stupid people that give excuses for everything, and nasty people who have done me wrong. I'm not one to hold grudges, but I want to play this game and not worry about getting that one loser who died at Ifrit twenty times and came up with a new excuse each time.
Is that too far? Does anyone else get blacklist happy? Figured I'd ask to quench my curiosity.

I have only ever done a blacklist once, and that was a gil seller shouting shortly after launch. I would blacklist people for other things, such as consistent offensive behavior or harassment, but I haven't encountered this in FFXIV, which is wonderful. I generally don't blacklist people for incompetence.

I don't really use my blacklist at all personally. If someone annoys me or is ignorant I just won't play with them ever again but for it to get to that point with me you'd have to be pretty pathetic.In terms of blacklisting people because they die alot or anything like that I don't see the point but I know there is alot of high end people who don't want to deal with that.

If it makes you feel better, I often blacklist people if they rub me the wrong way. (This doesn't work quite well if you're the linkshell leader though).

I also often take people "off" my blacklist (people come and go) if I think about the reason I put them in the first place and it ends up being over something silly. Some cases people would come off the blacklist and it works out fine after that, other times I take them off and I remember as to why I put them on it in the first place lol :x

Anyway yeah, it's your game, and if you want to play the game without interaction from said people, the only person who has a say in it is you.

I've blacklisted 2 people for consistently harassing me. I gave them both second chances and they both continued and I ended up re-blacklisting them.
Pretty much the only reason I would BL someone, not for "whining about dying" though. That seems a bit much.

I agree with this. Everyone is different and can tolerate different things.

I don't bother blacklisting people who just annoy me.
The ones who make my blacklist are people full of hate. I blacklist homo-phobics, racists, and extraordinarily rude people.
I have no tolerance for those who hate on/hurt others. I have 8 people blacklisted so far. Been playing since open beta.

Well, they don't whine about dieing just make excuse upon excuse. Oh, my dog was bugging me, oh I needed food, gf aggro, and it goes on.
I've also blacklisted people who always talk about stupid stuff and it spams my chat.
