I didn't even realize it worked this way, until this thread, if that tells you how rarely I use my friends list. It DEFINTIELY needs to be two way, for matters of convenience and protection both.

Yeah, I wasn't aware that it wasn't 2-way either until I started receiving moogle letters. "Data Unobtainable" (or something) would show up occassionally on my old server, and I assumed it was people removing me from their list which made me think it was 2-way al along (when, perhaps, it wasn't).
I support this 100%. It makes no sense for somebody to have you on their friend-list after you have removed them from yours.
We're getting a lot of QoL improvements this expansion, let's hope this gets added to their 'to do' list.
Yes, please make this change! I support.
Agreed; since adding somebody is a two way street it should likewise be reciprocated on removal.

Since being added to a friend list requires consent, revoking that consent should remove you from the list.
Now then...
It's convenient how you ignore all the drama created by you showing up in perfectly harmless threads and firing off incendiary posts, then acting as if it's someone elses fault when you get called on it. Like this thread, where there was no drama whatsoever until you created it. Or the numerous ones where you show up in a perfectly calm thread and start ranting and raving about parsers.
You have a bright future ahead of you as a politician, where every thing you do is really the fault of the mean old Cactuar elites in their secret club house trying to put the common poster down with their parsers and their "fix lilies" suggestions.
I am also signing this in hopes that it garners some attention. There is no way that when I remove a person (my side) they should still have me added as a friend on their side. If I bother to remove a person - it is likely for a very good reason.
Lol it isn't two way removal? That's the dumbest thing ever. 100% need to make this a priority in a future patch.
I mentioned this in the prev QA thread, but was drowned in all the silly "will we get x thing for y map/job/race because z reason".
@OP
Sounds good to me, it would be dumb to have someone in your friends list when they have removed you from theirs and vice-versa, that would only waste slots!...
Bumping for all things glorious~
Please yes to basically everything in this thread.
Make the friendlist great again!
Yeeeees please. ;-;
I find it very odd that this isn't the case. If I remove someone it should be a two way thing. So since I've removed a FC member from my friends list their name is no longer colored for me, but you mean to tell me that when they see me they see my text in the color associated with being a friend?
This has to be an oversight. No way can this be intentional.
You can't add someone to your friend list without them also adding you, so it makes no sense that when you remove them that you don't also get removed.
I fail to see the gain in this being one-sided. It makes it harder for people to leave unpleasant memories behind, and it makes it easier for those who take joy in stalking to very easily follow their prey.
This makes me wonder about the teleport to friend's housing feature. Does this mean people I have removed from my friend list and have blacklisted can teleport to my house and my fc?
Good God SE you do some great things but this is ridiculous.
I am honestly not sure about this, but I think in theory that they would be able to if they can send you mail and access your info via the friend list, etc. I believe that I have someone from my old FC on my list that may no longer have me on their list (I think this because they no longer notice me/greet me/etc. whenever I see them, they just run right by me). I just tried to teleport to his FC house out of curiosity and I was able to teleport successfully. If they had removed me,then yes: people can teleport to your home even if they're not on your list because you're on THEIR list... but, I could be wrong and I might still be on their list... In which case... experiment failed? (It would be awkward to ask, haaa... /dies inside. "Hey, uhm, hi. We uh, used to try the Kugane puzzle tower together. Do you still have me on your friends' list? :'3 " "...Who ARE you?!" "Aaahh, I'm sorrryyy. Dx /identity crisis." <-- I imagine it going like this. >>;; )
Bumping until we get this fixed -sings-
I got one more joke for you guys:
The friendlist-removal isn't the only thing that is only 1-way.
When you are married and then divorce, then your ex is still considered being married with you, he can even teleport to you with the ring.
Got divorced from my ex 1-way, then after a year my ex came back and used the ring to teleport to me.
I mean seriously, friendlist is one thing, but a divorce has to be 2-ways. Just imagine how it would been in real life when a divorce would only be 1-way: You lose all your rights towards your ex, but your ex can still execute his rights towards you, like wtf?
I support the OPs idea of making remove from friendlist 2-way and want to add "make divorce 2-way and the ring unusable".
The fffuuuu---... Holy crap.Glad I moved servers, then, cuz my Eorzean spouse did not want to "divorce" for like...two years even though I wasn't on the game at the time. Still didn't want to even after I came back, so he probably didn't relinquish ring.
This is also a messed up. :/
Hope you guys don't mind, but I'd like to add your quotes to the first post!
Anything in which two people must agree to something should instantly become void as soon as one person no longer wants to take part. I honestly assumed this was the case until I read this thread. This is basic...I am astonished that this issue is even present, never mind in various social aspects of the systen including marriage.
The marriage issue actually has the potential to be so creepy.
That should be a thing. And maybe make friend list and blacklist account wide and not character wide, mostly to prevent people from blacklist evading to harrass people that blacklisted them with an alt if it's in the same service account.
I think what's even worse than being the guy that has removed your "friend" and is still on his list is...
being the guy that got removed from your friend list and still thinks he is on your friend list and wonders why you never greet him back when you bump into eachother.
So it works both sides, I'd prefer to have a person that removed me cleansed from my fl aswell.
Something should be done about that Situation. Better sooner than Later.
I agree with this 100% and always have from day 1. If you have to ask permission to be on someone's friend list, that should be revoked when you take them off yours. I know people who have abandoned their characters or the game over this.
1. If you removed someone from your friends list, you should be automatically removed from theirs
2. If you change servers, you should be prompted if you want to wipe you friend's list clean
3. When you divorce someone in game it should go both ways. Both rings are no longer active.
4. If a new adventurer removes and blacklists someone and another person still has the Aetheryte Pendulum, it should not be usable.
You guys seem to forget another annoying feature. You cant blacklist or unfriend people that are offline.
Blacklist, no. However, you can delete offline friends off of your friend’s list. The removal is not two-way, though. Which is what this thread is advocating for. If I no longer want to be friends with someone, I’d like myself removed from their friends list when I remove them from mine. Likewise, if someone deletes me off of theirs, just remove them from mine.
Please this, so annoying when people you removed are still able to mail you and among other things people said.
Also not being able to blacklist people offline is pretty dumb too.
I get the feeling that even if they implement it, it'll require you and your soon-to-be-ex-friend to both be online. Similar to how you can't blacklist someone when they're offline. Granted, it'll still be better than what we have now, I just hope it won't tempt them to give the unfriended party a notification they've been unfriended. That's asking for drama, not to mention abuse.
Wait, are you serious? How is this a thing that is happening. You need both parties' consent to be on the friends list, how would you not remove both parties from each other's list as soon as one revokes this consent?
Prepare yourself for disappointment

Q: Please change the current feature where deleting a friend from my list will still have my name appear in the deleted friend's name list
A: This is a delicate issue because the opponent will be shocked if we are to implement deletion on both sides. We cannot guarantee this will not cause any problems here which is why we have this current feature right now.
