Hair Clippings, please fix in next Update or SOMETHING!

If they can't do anything about the collision I'd like the ability to tie hairstyles to gear sets, or maybe at the very least when you make/edit your character appearance you could pick two hairstyles to save (Main hairstyle and alt hairstyle).

Then on your character window there could be a button to toggle between the two styles and it could save to your gear set just like how it saves helmet and mask options. If it's just saving two hairstyles I would think it could be doable, but I'm sure there's something about server limitations and character data that make that impossible.. or something. It's always something..

Gear clipping and Tail Clipping is way wrose. It's like tailed charaters where a second thought now YP said he wouldn't have used the FFXI characater design. But was stuck with it...

Sadly YP wasn't in charge of FFXIV to begin with. But what has come has been good up until 4.3X It's one of the wrost mid expansion we have seen normally the game doesn't really slow down till the last path pre Expansion but right now balmung with it being locked seems dead. MY FC which normally had 10-15 people active prime time hasn't had more then 4 on since 4.3 dropped.

The "Physics" for hair you see in game are actually all pre-rendered animations set to trigger under certain conditions; hair is an extremely static object in this game.

Realistically, they'll never implement it. Or if they did, we'd rarely, if ever see any new hairstyles added to the game going forward. While its just single player games that I worked on, I always heard horror stories from my fellow coders & 3D modelers at a former company how stupid hair can be to get working with physics that don't make it look extremely unnatural, or act incredibly dumb. Beyond that, Square has made it extremely evident this game can be played on older hardware; and that there's a sizeable enough playerbase still playing on old hardware to justify not implementing anything into the game that would force out that playerbase due to it raising system requirements.

Finally, there's also the fact that they're on their tight 3-4 month patch release schedule, so if they were to take time to implement hair physics, it could set their schedule back or we'd be forced to sacrifice some sort of content for it; which to them might not be worth the time spent. Most you can hope for it is an option like TERA; a completely optional checkbox to put your hair up if you dislike clipping. Given the recent princess attire and all the tails clipping through clothes, its apparent their focus is on a lot of decent quantity; not a lower amount of excellent quality.

They need to fix the new hair style for the wedding veil. It clips really bad and just looks weird.

Honestly hated that feature in TERA. I gave my character long hair and back when visionmaker was the best armor, my healer only ever had her hair up. Made me wonder why I had long hair to begin with.

I think people are overthinking it. Here's a simple happiness equation:

Hairstyles + Glamour Plates = Happiness

I ended up switching to the hairstyle I'm using now largely because the high placement of its ponytail avoids clipping with the collars on the vast majority of outfits.

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see a proper solution to this. The best compromise I could think of would be a "Hide collar" option for certain outfits.

Honestly what we need is to be able to toggle a 2nd hairstyle for certain armor sets. It's the most straightforward solution. We already have a visor toggle as it is. Would also mean we could have longer hairstyles and choose when to make our hair short. I honestly like my long hair on my Elezen as well but I want to use the new gyr albania one too. I just dont want to be going to the ascthecian every time I switch job to do so.
