Letter from the Producer, XXIV (01/30/2012)

All the people complaining about "oh this delays everything from now on!" "They should redo the timeline!" please stop. The only thing you are convincing SE to do is never release a timeline again because of your constant complaining. They never had to do it in the first place. Personally I like to have the timeline there for a GENERAL guideline!

Also patch 1.21 looks AMAZING! Cant wait. :D

Is this gonna be some kind of outside-of-macro job+gear switching? In that case, bravo! If it means finding stones to switch jobs (ala FFXI), unsubscribed.

Everything else seems clear and awesome. Very glad I can keep leveling and know lvl50 will be something else than hunting NM's and grind. :)

I think it just means after the quest you recieve at rank 30 to unlock the jobs you will get said job stone and once you have equipped your say sword, you equip your paladin stone to another slot and you turn from gladiator to paladin.

It looks like an Amazing Patch! God I love everything that's in there so far, not that surprised on the delays though :p Kind of expected that to happen. As for the Hamlets Defense, It has the smell of an Awesomesauce! Really cool that not only DoW/M will take part in the Defense, but DoL/H too! (Repairs, Materials, War-machinery or maybe there will be Group crafts to make War-tools!? o.O)

Cutter's Cry and The Aurum Vale (Finally!) looks really cool, I've seen Aurum Vale on someone's Video, I wonder If the Area is completed now.

Personal Residence, Omg, I didn't expect this too much, but SE exceeded mine, even more with the Event-Cutscene Replay! o.O

New Recipes and Items for ALC, CUL, and GLD really adds into the game. I hope Gear adjustments will make U/U Gears better. Accesories Slot abolished and changed with Quantity restriction, seems nice!

Job Contents and New Quests seems really interesting! I hope It's gonna be fun, cool, challenging and contains Awesome Stories/Lore!

A stiking piece.
Just so you know, job stones are items to equip, which you obtain from the quest for unlocking. You don't really need to farm stones to change jobs :|

• On/Off toggle for sub-targeting

This is going to make many kb+mouse users happy :D

• Ability to conduct player search via text command

Interesting. Could make searching easier with macros, not having to setup the options each time you log off.

• UI display for the event replay function available in the player residences

REPLAY ALL THE CUTSCENES! \o/

Hehe. Nah, the way I read it was that you from now on would have to teleport to these "stones" in order to switch jobs. Like the moogles in FFXI. I'm glad I got some clarity on the issue, and that I read it wrong. :)

I bet the reasoning behind delaying Hamlet was to allow server merge... As population is so bad now for there to be "massive" anything on a server. Maybe more ppl will come back with 1.21 as well :p

I was hoping someone would bring this up before now but being as they didn't I will. I do not remember anything being said about an Exp Bonus while logged out before. Has there been anything posted about how this will work?

Not yet but they aren't done with details yet and pics.

Having little time makes you work harder, with the pressure of the release date coming.
My boss does the same strategy. You think you don't have time so you give 100% of yourself. If the boss keeps telling you "oh take your time it's not planned to be out now", you postpone and slack.

The roadmap is more a way to put pressure on them and force them to work harder than a way to let us know what they do. And by letting us know the said roadmap, it's even more pressure because they know we are waiting for something at a precise date.

It's nice to have the roadmap, but Yoshida said it, it's more for them than for us. That doesn't mean that his intention was not to share the informations with us, it's just an exchange that benefits everyone.

Dissapoint. We were told the delay in 1.20 would not delay 1.21, it has, even with hamlet defence cut out, no we've been given another promise 2.0 won't be delayed. I don't believe you anymore yoshida.

Probably for the best, think about how many people probably didn't pay for the game and we're waiting for the jobs system before coming back (i know 3-4 people personally who are doing this). After patch comes out, they'll get a true sense of numbers for the servers

Anyone whining about delays needs to grow up. If a company, any company, gives a release schedule months in advanced, it is entirely tentative. All companies do this. The only time anything is ever released on time on a schedule given months in advance is if it is already or very nearly complete. To expect otherwise is to be greatly naive.

There are items I have been waiting on whose release dates were given for last year that have been delayed until later this year, a couple of weeks is nothing.

I'm gonna let you finish, but each time SE delays the patch, and then after the patch is released, we are spammed from whiteknights and "SE NEVER DELAYS PATCHES!!!! EVERYTHING IS ON TIME!!!!" I don't mind the delays; I just mind the spamming defense of "no delays everrrrrrrr" mentality some people on this board have.

Hoping there will be an option to turn off the "log out bonus". Otherwise, can't wait to play 1.21

OK oK ok this is the patch I believe that will make FFXIV a true FF game. Everything after this is just building upon basic greatness. Who else is friggn excited for Bard!! yes Bard! Im loving it AF gear and my Own "mog house" Yes! thank you Yoshi P!

Yes it is. But I thought about something. Right now, you can't change equipment when you have generated enmity/in battle.

In an interview (I'll edit after I can find it), Yoshida gave the Archer/Bard as example. In it he said you could deal a lot of damages as Archer then switch to Bard to start enhancing the party.

I wonder if they got rid of hate preventing from changing gear or if it is specific to the Job Stone.

Yes, you can log out outside residence. The bonus only applies if you log out inside your residence.

You can change equip (not weapon) when you have enmity or a monster attack you. The only condition to change your equip is you need to be in passive mode (put your weapon away)

Here's hoping the quests are actually fun/difficult/connective.

Please don't give me random NPCs i'll never care about in any of the quests. We'll be seeing these people till level 99!

This update is a very good one for FFXIV regardless how you look at it there is something for everyone. I'm looking forward to it.
