"ITS WRONG! ITS IMMORAL!" was your only argument against the ones asking you how the Mateus couple was any different than Entropy's workshop. That's a pretty clear cut dodge there.

Can we make a list of people that is threatening to cancel account over housing? I really want see how many would actually quit.
Can we make a list of people that is threatening to cancel account over housing? I really want see how many would actually quit after a month
Sounds like the top 1% of first world problems has really angered him beyond sense.
Except their reason for unsubscribing is literally “I demanded a house from the developers and even tried to bribe for it, and they wouldn’t give me what I wanted”. OP tried to bribe/demand his way into a house, and that’s not how the system works. There are still workarounds for getting a house during the time that personal purchases are suspended, but instead of trying those (or waiting for personal housing to become available), the OP is throwing a temper tantrum because he, ultimately, didn’t get his way.
Yeah, it sucks that some can’t get their Dream Plot 30/60 Shirogane Mansion, but if they really wanted a house so badly that they would threaten to unsubscribe/leave the game if they didn’t get one, they would take any of the houses they could get: even if they’re those “awful” smalls or mediums that “no one wants”.
This is not what anyone wants to hear and the beginning of a nasty and slippery slope. The average and patient player base ultimately gets tired of the entitlement and quite the game. This causes a rotten abscess in the player base causing the top 1-10% to ultimately get bored and quit as well not too long after the normal players quit permanently. This leaves the stragglers that held on with almost no one to do anything with as all their friends left so they are forced to find a new group of players to game with or move on themselves. No one wants this play nice and share, the fun goes on much longer that way, be snotty like this too long this and the game dies no matter what the game devs do.
I won't because I have had a med house for a year. If they do something stupid and I lose it and am unable to get something equal immediately, then that would cause me to make a hasty exodus. Another words...I do NOT play here just for the horrid platform raiding.
I wouldn't go this far as I still enjoy the game. Housing is just the worst though.
You quit the game because of housing?
I am sorry, but this is pathetic. How can people like this exist? It's optional content for anyone and is not needed, but wanted.
Not everyone enjoys the horrid small platform raiding every time they log in. Crafting/gathering/deco are nice ways to relax. I raid when I have to only to get the gear and tomes I need (I have all 340 gear) . If I could get exactly the same w/o raids, I wouldn't touch one ever again here but take my house away and I am gone with the wind.
Silly to you but we are not all the same. What a boring world that would be if we were. People have different viewpoints in what they want from a game and there are others equal and better out there that have all the goodies. I played WoW from vanilla (launch) for 8.5 yrs straight (God I miss those vanilla 40-person raids!) and when they screwed up my Dru healer, I quit *boom* and moved on. I have a huge wow acct still sitting there.
One less person to complain. If you want housing that bad, transfer to a smaller server. It’s that simple. Plenty of housing and friendly communities are everywhere. Cross world PF and chat make it easier than ever.
Well everyone has their goals in the game. My number 1 goal for a long time was to get my own house. With a lot of hard work and some luck I got it. When I didn't have a house I honestly felt hopeless at times. Never enough to quit but I'll admit it made me miserable sometimes. Maybe this makes me pathetic too but it's how I felt.
Many smalls and many mediums on Behemoth.
There's a TON of smalls and Mediums left on Faerie. Lavender Beds is the ONLY area to not have Large and Mediums. I'm sorry you are on a crazy populated server but christ I got plenty of alts if you need an FC that bad I'll be happy to lend you two of mine to get your FC going!
What I'm starting to get from these threads after the new system isn't "I can't get a house" but "I don't want a small house."
Which leads me to believe smalls need redesigned on the inside or people feel entitled to the bigger houses just because they made the gil, despite the fact everyone around them also made the gil... Their gil is the most important gil.
It's probably both.
Small plots having feelings too. Do not worry Small plots I still love you.
Smalls can be quite cozy tbh (many have wonderful views as well). And with the relocating having priority, it's a very nice way to start!
Also there's plenty examples on how to decorate those in a wonderful way, specially after they increased the furnishing capacity.
I get you! At first I thought I was ok without one but after a while they grew on me and considering that I don't have that much time to play, I also felt like I was losing a portion of the game that's pretty fun! (crafting/decorating homes, gardening. I love The Sims, so yeah...)
Not to say that you always get housing stuff with Events.
To be fair, the OP attempted to bribe his way into getting a house. That's why people are less sympathetic. I have plenty of friends on Balmung who we spamming my discord with "omg Balmung still has houses!!!!" Even mediums were taking a bit to sell, albeit not Shirogane. If the OP were willing to transfer, they could have done so earlier and had their pick of houses since tons were available hours after the update.
I do respect other people's viewpoints, but please listen to what I say right now: When I bought FFXIV, the first things in my mind were the fights, dungeons and raids I will be doing with others or just becoming social with other players. But having a house? While there is content locked behind FC housing, it's not the first thing I'd expect from a Final Fantasy game.
I wanna apologize if I offended you with my response to the thread. We all have goals, may it be having all classes at 70, becoming gil-capped or as you said; Owning a house. I myself also have the goal of owning a house, but that won't mean that I'd just quit the game because I did not get one. It does feel horrible, I can understand that but don't let that get to you. Quitting because of that would be a waste of your own time, money and dedication that you could've put into something more valuable.
The amount of entitlement people display when it comes to certain features is astounding. As a few others said, see you next month though. You'll be back like always.
Well I was more referring to the fact that some people place great value in housing to the point that it can affect their happiness in the rest of the game. That said I do wonder about those who heavily imply housing is their priority but remain on a highly populated server where their chances of getting one are immeasurably small. They're not exactly helping their own situation by staying there.
No need for apologies. I didn't take personal offense.
While I understand how someone can feel very unhappy for not having a house, I agree quitting because of it would raise some eyebrows including my own. I enjoy several aspects of the game, and I would still be playing if I had no access to housing. But I admit my enjoyment would be much less colourful if my personal goal was unattainable through no fault of my own. It certainly felt that way for a while.
I played WoW from early Vanilla up to the end of Draenor (10-11y) and i was able to see the degradation of the game. The main reason were people like OP who did nothing else but whine for days and months because they "felt entitled" to something. And i'm not joking one bit. All of them had same starting point "i pay monthly subscription so i'm entitled to anything i want". Then for some unexplained reason Blizz decided to start listening those people and that was the beginning of the downfall (literally). From over 11-12 mil subs they went down to (probably) less than 2-3 mil at the end of Draenor and never recovered.
Now reading OP (plus many other posts) i get flashbacks. Yeah, i'm worried that SE one day could make same mistake like Blizz and literally kill the game, or bury so deep that will never see the sunlight.
Same mistake did Blizz not counting that old player are the one who will stick with the game for years, like i did for almost 11 years and left when i had enough of this shenanigans. The new players usually come to the game, stay for a month maybe two and then go to play Battlefield 38. The one who stick with the game soon become "old" players and then the unhappiness start to roll out even between them. What is funny many of them never got the fact they were one of the reasons for such situation. But new players come, new whines... and the magic circle of doom never stop to spin.
Speaking as a WoW veteran, I don't see that happening in this game. Aside from top tier content, all content was extremely dumbed down in WoW. This isn't even remotely what's going on in ff or with the housing system. SE don't even have the resources to pander to every player QQing about housing, and if they did that wouldn't affect the rest of the game anyway.
If ff has a downfall like WoW, well the first warning signs haven't reared their ugly heads yet. So I'm not worried.
I really hope you are right because i love FF series (not just FFXIV), but "something" must be the beginning... and i hope this isnt housing. If SE fall under "pressure" (really?) for one thing what you think how long it will take for the same thing to happen with something else.
I have a plot 46 in Ward 11 and wouldn't trade it for a 30/60. Nope that spot in my opinion is the best ;)

I relocated to Plot 16, Ward 18 and agree. The beachfront large has its back to the beach (why) and 30, though it has that awesome secret cave nearby, I find a little crowded. I like this secluded large and the nearby bamboo area for my daily stretches :D
Still working on my garden, though.

I think they're both really nice plots! FC as a whole liked 60 so that's where we are, but I have a 46 for my personal house. I bet the view from the roof is amazing, but I haven't gotten on it yet.
What I don't understand is the appeal for 7/37.. it's backwards. :(
For me the only drawback is that it's backwards. (All the beachfront property in Shirogane is either sideways or backwards. I guess they were trying to give it a different feel from Mist, but they gave us a beach, I wanna look at the beach!) It's by the hidden beach with it's cave hot spring (much better than the other one imo) and it's on the beach (even if it's not facing it). You also have a great view of the door that's tucked away and should lead to the basement of plot 8.
Exactly this! I really don't get why they made practically all the houses facing each other. I had 14/44 the small with the MB right in its yard and I loved it, even though it was grade 5. Of course I moved to Lavender beds to be near my FC with the patch because I never saw any of my neighbors and I was surrounded by empty houses, but I still loved that plot.
