A sizable portion of the population did NOT want the XI style RNGs (among other bad things from XI). There have been numerous threads calling to scale back the absurd droprates, but they get drowned out by a strong vocal minority that complain about the game handing loot to players on a silver platter (so basically using one extreme to counteract an imaginary opposite extreme argument). We're not looking for easy rares, we're looking for some sort of middleground, but we keep using these foolish extreme arguments as a reason to not do anything and keep things the way they are.
Proof of my statement. This isn't XI, and it shouldn't be XI. It should incorporate the good from XI, but not the bad. Square said themselves that they want XIV to be more accessible to players - XI became an inclusive game and was decently successful by staying that way, but Square wants to go a different direction with XIV. Whether you like it or not, Square will make changes that will probably make you cry about the good old days of XI, so in the future, it will probably us having to tell you to deal with it or go back to your 10 year old game.
