Well, there weren't any new sales for like a month back in 2013 after launch as the servers couldn't handle it, so SE literally did stop selling the game. I remember this as I wanted to join my friends, but couldn't.
Well I probably wont use the dresser, but I'd have to be some kind of complete and unrepentant moron to unsub just because of that. How insulting, really, given all of the good things they put in this game, to shrug and quit just because this free thing is not perfectly optimized immediately. Everything that works now will still work. My retainers are sorted, I can find any piece I want to glamour as soon as I want it, and glamour prisms are practically free now thanks to GC seal purchases. I'm good man. Gonna keep enjoying the game while the dresser gathers dust. Maybe if they improve the crap out of it, and it sounds like they mean to, so...yeah. But hey, you do you.
Gotta love those OPs that start a polarising thread, then have no further involvement in said thread.
I call nonsense.
No i meant like in general with the companies games. Not just realm reborn. And actually they did still keep selling the game.I remember the server issues alright. They were capping the amount of people who could log or create characters the servers because the servers couldnt handle it at the time.
This led to some idiot posting on the forum a script to make your client keep trying to connect to the server. This ironically made the problem a lot worse as a lot of people started useing the script so they were basically DDOSing the servers. The other issue was people left their players logged in all day and went to work etc.
Nope. The fact that I still can't get a house is a downer and the MSQ change is poorly thought out, but I'm pretty content with the other stuff.
Nope. I can't wait for this patch to hit. So hyped!
Another patch, another "I quit because _______" thread. Nothing new to see here folks, don't even bother posting. And if someone does have something to say with the issues that OP misrepresented, go to the relevant threads that already exist. Don't give the kneejerk reaction threads like this any more traction.
For this patch? Nah.
The 4.2 patch notes, the live letter preceding it and that recent GameWatch interview have all made me laugh really hard - haven't enjoyed the game this much in a long time!
Because I had already decided back in early December that I wasn't going to renew once I lapse in March due to an extreme lack of things to do. This is part vindication and part absolute amazement at how many things they've messed up all at once.
I really can't comprehend the whole "over dramatic -insert X patch- has killed the game, insulted your family and kicked your dog mentality" While the new systems they are implementing are less than desireable (looking at your glamour dresser plates) and even the incredibly confusing and stupid change to the MSQ roulette It's hardly reasons to completely unsub from the game and stop playing. Also not sure why you are claiming that paladins are going back to their HW iteration, a 50 potency decrease on SW and a 20 potency decrease on HS isn't going to somehow magically revert them to their useless state in HW. I think you need to dial back a bit on the drama queen, It's making you look silly.
I don't plan on unsubbing, but i may play less overall. So far we really don't have much in the way of main content, but we do have a lot of side or optional content. While that's nice, it means still that you're still just doing the same msq and same grind for a week or two, then its back to either pvp or ex/savage for any real long term content. Really the only unique content planned that isn't too similar to past content is Eureka, and we're still waiting for even a word on new POTD or anything else.
SE needs to really work on fleshing out the game more to make this expansion unique.
Well, to be honest its not so much the patch, but that we get this patch like 8 months into the expansion. I mean come on, we need something unique, and more main content overall; there's just so much side content and interface stuff, and not much meat to the main game.
Is just a bunch of nerfs and adjustments that will keep changing as the game goes on. We got additional inventory space along with ways to save retainer space by glamouring level 1 stuff.
I play DRK and I'm not quitting even if SE's... "buffs" were like throwing some bandaids to someone bleeding out on the street.
All the new systems have limitations on them, but at least it is a sign they are starting to go a better direction when it comes to glamours, so I'm expecting them to continue to incrementally go in that direction than backpedal it all of a sudden.
The retainer thing annoys me, but it's not enough to get me to quit the game.
Just waiting for SE to announce that they are pulling out of the MMO and Console market and going to become a Mobile Only Company or the Next Konami.
Come on, people...

OP is just salty that the glamour system isn't up to their expectations so they're exaggerating everything else that got changed out of proportion.
PLD nerf isn't that bad imo. Only Shield Swipe and Holy Spirit will have slightly less potency, but everything else on it hasn't been changed. I lose a small amount of DPS yes (I think around 1% or something), but that doesn't make PLD useless from those changes.
I don't really mess around with glamour too much, and I have a retainer 3/4 full of glamour gear.
I also have 3 retainers that I set aside for leveling gear, which is streamlined as much as I was willing to go. That being Ironworks + Dreadwyrm, Halonic + 5 crafted rings, Shire + Alexandrian + Proto-Ultima, and Yanxian + 5 crafted rings. Would be worse if I had cared enough to keep hold of any of the Alliance Raid gear. And a retainer full of materia and items for the Zodiac and Anima weapons, which will be cut down significantly Tuesday and a bit more once I finish up with my last set of Animus books.
It really does add up quite quickly when you're playing with most/all jobs.
I don't consider it hoarding but I fill up most of my Retainer space with crafting materials. With the way new recipes continue to use items lower than they are you never know what you will need. Then there are the mildewed, moldy, etc dungeon drops that can make some money with old materials as well. So it comes down to a question of how do I want to use my time? Do I want to go out every time to gather what I need or cache extra materials in my Retainer. I think a lot of us rather gather a lot and store it rather than decide what we will craft then obtain the materials.
I doubt many people would unsub because of that. Many people have different priorities when it comes to the game.
I couldn't possible care less about glamour and so the dresser is a feature I wasn't really planning on using in the first place, so its implementation is almost irrelevant. The chocobo saddles are what I'm looking forward to and my 999 aetheryte tickets :D. Would I have liked a 3rd free retainer? (especially since I already have some I rent) Sure, but I'd have been fine if they announced no new retainers at all, so I'm fine with not having another free retainer, makes no difference to me as I'm happy with my 2+2 setup and don't plan on changing it anytime soon.
There is enough content that I do that the patch is just a bonus. As it is I barely have enough time to do everything I want to do on a work day. A bit of that is because being a player that came back and made a brand new character around when Stormblood launched, and being a completionist, I have plenty of older content to still go through. I enjoy my roulettes, beast tribes, my weekly command dungeon (when my rested exp bar is really full), my hunting bills, and still have many dungeons/trials/raids to go around and finish, still working on ARR sightseeing log, the non-plus sidequests I skipped, leveling up all my jobs, getting stuff from WT and maps, and enough leves/fates/gates to work on my challenge log and achievements.
So even if this patch had only been QOL stuff and no new content at all, it wouldn't have mattered to me and anyone else who still has plenty of content they want to do in this game.
A patch being unsub-worth would be more for older players, and it would depend on whether the other content that is being released (like the new weekly glamour game, the new instances, the new pvp map, the enhanced perform) are things they care about or not. Everyone's different.
My FC has a mix of all sorts of players: new, returners, raiders, non-raiders who do high-end dungeons, people who don't do any instance except what's in MSQ and then go nuts with glamour/crafting, etc... And so far everyone seems mostly happy about the patch notes with just a few things here and there they don't like (My gripe is that the command mission additions are level 42/50/50, and I don't think it needed 2 50 dungeons added. One of those should instead have been cutter's cry or Qarn to fill the gap in betwen 32 and 41, and the other 50 should have been a 51-59 dungeon, but that's a gripe that's hardly unsub-worthy)
As far as inventory space, this isn't 3.0 where we were given an entire expansion with absolutely no integrated inventory increases With the excuse of console limitations, then given a boatload of paid retainers through mogstation. From my understanding, we're gaining 200 glamour slots along with the ability to store several full glamour sets in the armoire, the ability to stack just under a thousand items in a single inventory slot, and an alternate storage altogether alongside one paid retainer. At least this time we have an option outside of 'pull out your credit card if you want to upgrade your inventory' or 'don't upgrade your inventory at all if you don't want to pay more per month for it.'
Not that it made any difference at the time, but I boycotted the extra retainers throughout 3.x due to feeling a bit cheated. Just knowing that there's an attempt to better the inventory situation in game makes me more likely to buy extra retainers in the future as needed because as long as I'm getting something in my base subscription, I don't feel like it's a pure money grab. No reason to complain this time around. Certainly no reason to unsubscribe. But that's just me.
This was me up until a few months ago, but honestly? If you look through your retainer's inventory and check the prices on everything you're hoarding, you'll find a ton of them are less than 500gil for an item you haven't even used since Heavensward. Once I realized this I went on a massive sell-off of my cheap materials, and the valuable stuff honestly didn't even fill a single retainer.
I can't speak for everyone, but I honestly suggest doing some spring cleaning of your crafting mats if you haven't, I found it extremely liberating.
If Eureka is as bad as Diadem or as ultimately useless as PoTD, then I might leave until the next expansion.
Definitely not unsubbing my two accounts. Already made preparations for 9th retainer for each! (wish we could reorder them, but we can't so I had to reset one so the jobs will be in order...)
Not complaints here over the 200 glamour space limit. That's 200 more than I have now and I honestly don't think I have anywhere near that so not worried about putting things into it that, especially crafted one where (if it really came down to it) I could just make again.
OP is proof that when devs give an inch on something, players will cry that it wasn't a mile.
- PLD nerf is virtually negligible
- WAR changes...well, so much for WAR never changes :p
- Items stacking to 999 totally won't help with inventory space...oh wait
- Glam system is just the start; similar systems in WoW have taken 5-6 years to get to where they are now (and you can't even dye gear in that game at all still)
Unsubbing hasn't even crossed my mind.
Already cancelled my sub. But stay near the forums to see if any news changes, and may actually come back if they decide to make a few changes. I've been in this game since 1.0, and this being one of the titles I hardcore went for or supported, I just can't bring myself to continue with all the push backs to Eureka till 4.25 or support this game much these days right now. And that was super hard for me to even consider cancelling my subscription last night. I don't care about my house enough. If it goes, it goes. But whatever. Gil is easy to make and buying a house will be available in the future. Still have apartments and FC housing so. DRK getting shafted, and almost no endgame content that has changed outside the new paint with similar structure. Again, if this does change? I'd be more than willing to put my sub back. Until then though, nah. :l
Re: Retainer inventories ... back in ARR I had several retainers full of crafting materials. For the most part, those materials got scrapped during HW, when I made the push to get all of the leveling and housing recipes done once. After that, I was able to drop 98% of ARR’s materials (because I was not crafting anything that used them) and was able to drop down to 2 retainers for materials : one to hold basic HW materials, one to hold special stuff (which was stuff like crafted stuff for the FC Workshop, or materials available only from airships).
With SB, I’m able to do the same so far. Except, right now, there isn’t anything that falls under the “special stuff” category I need to hold onto, so everything’s on one retainer, even the FC3’s and Mastercraft Demimateria.
Oh, unless its a material I’m planning on using in the near future, I don’t hold on to any fish, at all. That helps, somewhat, to keep things in one retainer or so.
Only thing I am not going to do anymore is buy items from Mogstation. That way sales from it can't help them anymore with nerfing classes anymore. Maybe then they will focus on content instead of class changes all the time. Never seen a mmo that played nerf and buffs classes every big patch like this one does.
...Zero fixes, what?
You get 70 additional slots. 200 more with the Glamour Dresser, which is an entirely new system. Stacks go up to 999 now so that's a lot of slots freed as well.
No, never. I'm too excited about patch 4.2 and the upcoming Valentione event, why should I cancel my sub when new content is being released? @_@
My sub never runs out. Prepay both my Sub and Retainers for 6 months. I usually stop playing a week or two before the content patch, but for the most part I love this game and support it.
Not cancelling sub becuase Square Enix made a huge stupid mistake just once. if they made these dumb mistakes all the time like other companies I know I might.
Not cancelling my sub. However i am extremely disappointed with the DRK changes and hoping to see if the official notes have more details.
Outside of the job changes, I am excited for 4.2 and if 4.2 upsets me I can always go back to Monster Hunter.
I just hope the content is not boring.
Lately for Patch 4.1 the MSQ was a snorefest and it feels like the MSQ in 2.5 where you are just doing stuff to do stuff.
Sorry I was not clear but I did get very upset.
What I meant by no changes since 2.0, I meant there was no significant changes to the glam system and inventory management since then. We got item trimmed going from 1.0 to 2.0and I think FFXIV needs another round of that. Crafting takes too much space, someone even posting here how they have 9 retainers on 2 accounts, along with glams. When you are trying to say have a white dye on a mog station item, then back dye it for a different set, you have to dye it on each plate. then say I just want one of the pieces for a different set, I have to make a new plate, then break it because we only got 10 plates, and I lose the dye.
It is a very bad system and not really giving me 200 spots to store items, since it is almost useless and others said they will not be using it at all. I do not want to support a company that is giving bare minimum while being so money grabby ( the retainer costs and general mog station costs) when we can't even get proper basic features. Them releasing a 9th buyable retainer basically tells me they know they are releasing a pre alpha system so here is a 9th retainer you can buy, or use your bad time consuming system. I feel they are trying to milk us for money over trying to really make the game enjoyable.
I did not post this to troll, It is just I overheard others talking about thinking about unsubing as well and wondered how many others felt the same. I expire in 6 days.
