That's why I make the distinction. Being in a premade doesn't automatically make someone good, and numbers hardly make up for lack of skill or understanding.

See this is what people automatically assume. I honestly don't do premades to bolster strength. I honestly only group with friends because it is way more fun.
Anger much. To think I get carried is honestly funny. My gf (a.k.a. pocket healer as you dub it) is more focused on her own kills than "pocket healing" me.
You're right. I mean, most times I just like to go in with people I know. . . it just so happens that they're mostly fellow 3.x vets, so I know I'll be with a strong team.
I do have friends who are newer, or just PvP from time to time casually that I'll go with of course. And maybe someday I'd like a pocket healer :/
I have those as well. The LS I formed takes in everyone. We don't care how good someone is and we just pvp for fun. If I am dps'ing I am only going in for kills. Even if it is Shatter I only focus on the players and never touch the ice unless everyone is dead and more often I am going to go find them. If I am healer, I only heal players who attack other players.
This idea is lit, signal boosted.
Use FFXI as open world pvp for example it was successful
Balista , conquest, etc
Sounds cool, but the sanctuary/safe part gave me war flashbacks. People will just retreat to the safe area if they're about to die, unless there's also a timer for vulnerability, once the person runs into the safe area. One way that I've seen that type of issue addressed, was to just teleport the player(s) to the map.
99.9% of time i played solo and i never really had any major issues be it against randoms or premades, surely those small premades were better than common joe but that's why i always liked when they were on opposing side and not on my team. Farming normies was kinda boring in the end(let's be honest XIV playerbase as a whole is not that good be it pvp or pve, if you have basic understanding of a job then you are already above average).
Lmao wpvp would fail big time in this game, just go to wow or gw2
I like this idea. Hope they pick up on it. And if it does become a thing, I hope they have the PvE kit, but PvP stats (so everyone's on the same ground) to really give it the feeling of you adventuring to a dangerous place, using whatever you have.
Question: Would the instanced area be server-wide or datacenter-wide? I think it should be datacenter-wide like the Battle Halls so it's not always empty and lacking in activity.
Having PvP-specific FATEs like a mini-frontlines would be cool. Like whichever party/faction/whatever has the most amount of kills gets a higher rating. For example, parties with 20+ kills get Gold, 10+ Silver, and anything less Bronze. And they could reward with Wolf Marks or PvP-specific materials (to craft furnishings or something) to exchange.
That's a good idea for sanctuaries; let it have like a 5s vulnerability cooldown when you enter and afterwards, you get the vulnerability buff that makes it so you can't be attacked.
Why hasn't there been any responses to this thread, after the line of treads it took to get here? We clearly want it.
Its already in the game and I would say they do. They keep making new game modes for it so lets just give the people what they want.
It is PvP, it a under concept of player competition. This thread is different, it is asking for world PvP, a sugar coated term for ganking. It is not player vs player anymore, it is player killing and usually involving player griefing
On side note, they did gave two designated PvP zones in ff11 in which both are beutifual done: mountain zone and island zone. Both are empty one month after initial release. Good luck to get them to waste resources on this type of request
I have issue with this as we're not asking for world PvP, we're asking for a designated zone. I already clearly laid out the parameters of it, so I won't repeat it here. However simply writing it off as "a sugar coated term for ganking" cheapens and belittles it. Would it be possible? Yes. Am I interested in ganking others? No. Am I going to stand as each player's moral compass? No. But simply put, do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.
If we're in a designated PvP or PvPvE area and can openly attack, I may not be so likely to strike first. I will however respond viciously if attacked, so let the would-be gankers beware, but open world PvP doesn't just immediately mean griefing and other lowbrow activities. Please don't write off a good idea by only looking at potential negatives.
