Healers that don't give healers commendations?

Whether I'm healing or not, I tend to favor my commendations towards the DPS classes.

I feel as though the DPS classes are often underappreciated because it isn't as inherently easy to tell when one does well or does poorly. So, I usually try to pay attention to which of the DPS tends to outshine the others and give my commendation to them accordingly.

That said, I'm not opposed to giving my commendation to my co-healer or a tank. I just feel it is often the "easy" or "safe" choice when it isn't just the tanks or healers that make or break an encounter.

Why bother commending the other healer. I essentially don't need them >_<

I only give it out to players I believe deserve it. If a healer or tank clutches the boss and the whole party dies? Guess who is getting my com?

Otherwise, if I don't see anything spectacular or enough reason to bother, I'll leave the instance without giving a com. You don't get a com for doing your job. You should only be worrying about those if you do something worthwhile to get it.

Most players give me coms because I raise as RDM in instances and manafication push to healers when MP is getting low.

Tanks using shirk in instances when it's needed without asking? My com.

DPS using goad? Totally my com.

BRD actually using refresh and tp regen songs without being asked when you can tell they're paying attention to healers and dps/tanks in the party on where their mp is or tp is at? Totally my com.

But if you're just doing your job, then nah, lol.

actually this - idk genders or roles. its all about teamwork & chemistry... just doing the job isn't fairly enough, the ones who surprises me or stand out in a positiv way will get it. sometimes I leave without giving a com on purpose tho... but those runs are rarity ^^ (sometimes im sad that I can't give a com in random-farm pfs as well... q.q)

I give commendation to people I feel they deserve it.
Not because of the job they're playing.

But most of the time I just completely forget that system exists.
Or I only do it for challenge log (yes, sadly, but that's free exp so...)

If play a healer give it to tank unless they don't do very good job and is very hard to keep alive. If see nice guy character or someone in cute glamour give it to them if tank did a bad job. If I am playing a dps do same thing try to give it to other dps.

What I look at for whether I give my comm to the co-healer is:

1) Are they active, and not just standing around waiting for someone to take damage while at full MP? That's a plus. If they're new I don't mind if they're being cautious from not knowing the fight yet though. If they've clearly done it enough times and are just being lazy, then yeah, probably not getting my comm.

2) Are they deathly allergic to at least trying to hard-cast a raise if SC isn't up and no one else can at the time, and they have the MP (as in co-healer dead/oom, RDM/SMN can't, etc)? If yes, no comm.

3) Are they trying to avoid excessive overhealing? I'm not talking about the accidental double cures that are bound to happen anyway, but the stuff like casting Medica II at full HP knowing the group isn't going to take enough damage to even warrant using it, or spamming cures on a full-hp tank.

4) Are they repeatedly dying to the same things over and over despite explanations of the mechanics? If yes, definitely no comm, especially the ones that run away with stack markers after getting an explanation of them. Like, I can only Rescue you so many times...

If I feel one of the tanks did better, or if one of the DPS did (like a RDM helping with Raises if half the party hits the floor, etc), they'll get it instead. If the rest of the group is awful, then nobody gets it.

I know my cohealer get at least 1 commend MOST of the time no matter how bad they played.

Thats about all there is to it, i don't reward bad healer that get carried just because they exist and i do all the work.

My rules,essentialy:
- if you didn't even say hi at the start of the run, no comms, no matter how great you perform;
- if you make the run fun/nice it counts a lot, both by being helpful or making jokes or anything;
- healer comes first for me, role-wise, but they must perform well and not make me feel like I'm solo healing if 8man; also if they're good but jerks they still don't get a comm, and there's some things I really can't stand from healers;
- dpsers if they stand out, things like paying attention to mechanics (especially killing adds etc), mana shift when needed (I see a lot just throwing it between fights when not needed and also having a macro to get thanks/comms for it), and raise if they can;
- tanks if they're good and no healer or dps stood out;
- funny names;
- if everybody leaves right away, last one staying, if not bad;
- this is included in the nice category but I like comming learners who show interest in learning.

How do you know anyway that the other healer didn't commend you? It's not like you know who commended you, just how many. I'm also actually stunned at comms for how i get them, as when I think I did a great job and pretty much carried the group I often get few or none, and when I utterly sucked I get even max. I also get them almost all the time as a dps, which is super weird.

I almost never comm the other healer, mostly because I typically do 80% or more of the healing. On the rare occasion that I get another healer that heals, they get the comm. Otherwise it goes to the tank if they main tanked and didn't mess up badly or if they actually picked up adds. In the rest of the cases (that is, the majority of the time) I give it to the dps that aggravated me the least.

That's a good one, I sometimes comm Dragoons who never die and rarely or never get close to (since they're super rare)

That happens to me also. Everytime I was the hero healer, I get no comms. But everytime I sucks I get triple comm. I wonder why?

And being male AND lalafell, I expect less comms, since there are some people out there that's asshole enough to be racist towards lalafells. And that's not that rare. To the point to have the unpleasant experience to see someone shouting at Limsa's Aetherite Plaza that he would kill every Lalafell out there if elected as Eorzean president.

Never got a single comm as RDM, even when was acting as healer on PotD (the comp was Tank and 3x DPS), when casting more Vercure than Jolt.

I'm finding the same situation. I got more comms as DRG than as RDM, even in Rabansty where I have to constantly raise people/manashift the healers. As DRK I get them more often than both combined, but when on AST I rarely get them, and I dish out DPS and keep everyone alive/buffed with very few hiccups.

There's little point trying to figure out why you get more on X than you do Y - as long as it remains a relative voting system where people can throw commendations to whomever they please, you'll never know why you got any specific recommendations unless people literally say it out loud. Example, did Hells Lid today on WHM - DPS'ing like a lunatic, providing advice, no deaths, mega-pulls + Holy whammage, a relatively smooth run overall. Tank at the end said "Commend your healer" before leaving, to which I got a grand total of 1 commendation (obviously the tank) - the other two either commended eachother (DPS), the tank, or nobody - not that I give a damn, just saying that unless people make it obvious, there's no real point wondering why/why not/who etc.

On that particular run I gave it to the tank. The DPS were eating every mechanic known to man and I genuinely felt I was contributing more damage than they were, whereas the tank was working with me to make everyone's life super smooth. The following two runs after that, however, had the worst tanks I'd seen in a while, and decent DPS'ers.

Yeah, I barely give it to the other healer as well. Especially since it usually does feel like I do most actual healing while still maintaining some DPS.

I usually give them to DPS that seemed to perform the best unless someone made a positive, memorable impact. Like a funny comment.

Also, if you want to almost guarantee a comm from me: explain mechanics to a newbie. I usually end up being the one to do this, and I get so frustrated when people don't give me any hint on a fight at all and then get salty when I struggle.

This happens to me a lot too. If I try to play efficiently, not keeping everyone at max 100% of the time and avoiding overheal, I get little to no comms. If I don't trust a group and keep them topped off constantly, comms for days. I think a lot of them see their HP not always at max and assume the healer isn't doing their job.

I always give it to the other healer even if he/she died alot is all about team work. I don't give it if the other healer are salty.

What I meant was actually a different thing: dying a lot, screwing mechanics, subpar healing =comms; carrying people through their screwing with great life-saving effort=no comms.
But I also noticed the thing you said lately, since I'm getting more confident with mechanics and so dpsing more, it's totally true. You dps a lot, making runs go faster and smoother, while keeping everyone alive though not topped and you get a lot less comms than just keeping everyone topped and not dpsing. Especially with the Holy spam on trash pulls vs just spamming cure and keeping the tank topped. It's silly because it would just be easier and lazier to only bother about hp bars. But you're right, probably a lot only watch their bars.

I usually do not comm my cohealer unless thy are absolutely on point and synergize well with me. By this I mean:

--Actively balancing healing and DPS; I don't like being paired with a cohealer that either refuses to heal or refuses to DPS (or refuses to do both)
--Making excellent use of all their skills (I get really annoyed when I'm paired up with a HoT healer and they don't use their HoTs; likewise when I'm with a shield healer and they won't use their shields to mitigate)
--If I'm paired with another AST and they DON'T overwrite my cards (usually this is an instant comm regardless of the other points; but alas, it's rare to find a co-AST with this kind of card buff awareness)
--If I am rolling a HoT healer and my cohealer does not completely invalidate my HoTs; I've gotten to where I seldom use A.Helios or Medica II because my cohealer will heal everyone to full and not allow the HoTs to tick, causing me to just massively overheal (and this is also why I prefer shield healers because I do not like blatant overhealing).

Generally my comm goes to whomever I deem deserves it. I try to look for excellent DPS first since, as a DPS main, we are often overlooked for tanks or healers in terms of commendations. If no one deserves it, I don't give them out.

I usually give comms to the co-healer, but recently I've been giving them based on performance, or who had really impressed me at a certain bit.
