I would also say more customization first, and then a job.
And then a new race if we decide to go off somewhere new where they'd like to join us.

The only job I want is dancer.
I fell in love with mmos with ffxi, war then the and finally dancer.
In ffxi I am a warrior but would love to fall in love with dancer again.
I’d rather have more customization options for our current races than a new one.
No more jobs. It took more than an entire expansion to fix the first round of "add a healer" to make it such that all three of them were worth using. Adding a fourth will make the problem worse. Let alone how it is for some DPS jobs in endgame.
Having 30 jobs for 8 slots doesn't lead to anything except a lot of them being underutilized.
As many people already said, I’d prefer more tank and healer jobs. We need more customization for the actual races rather than add a new bunny one which will be exactly like Miqo’te most probably. So yeah, please add at least one more tank (I’d love to use some sort of Gunblade) and a new healer (Dancer
Σ>―(〃°ω°〃)♡→ Viera plz!!!
tbf healers were perfectly balanced after 3.3, they just made AST stupidly overpowered in 3.4 for some weird reason which put WHM in a bad spot.
Plus no more jobs period would make this game really stale, I don't think anyone would like to play the same jobs for years, or at least not in casual content which makes up a majority of XIV.
I vote race, Viera!
I'm on the Job ship. Especially if said new job is a Healer or tank type.
I'm also on the side that votes for expanded customization options on current races before implementing a brand new one. Could make the argument that a new race=more customization options and to that effect I'd say "remove the class lock when glaming outfits" because that's way more customization than a new race.
If I can only choose one, definitely a new race. I might not play the new job, but I'll make characters from the new race for sure.
BLUE MAGE OR RIOT! (ノ°Д°)ノ︵ ┻━┻
New job. Race is definitely low on the list of new things I want.
honestly the concept art for viera was pretty exciting for me, i would have loved it even if i didn't already know what viera are.
problem with a lot of jobs is it seems like people just don't have any realization of FFXIV's combat limitations.
Blue Mage's blue magic would pretty much strictly be job quests to go learn them
a geomancer would have to have the same terrain skills for every trial/raid or it would be a weird back and forth power balancing struggle
a beastmaster would work I think, basically a melee summoner using handaxes and having maybe 3 or 4 pet summons for different situations
dancer is an interesting thought but PvP scholar is basically a ranged version of what a dancer would be
Alchemist is astro, they just changed the theme to fit ishgard
2 handed axes are taken but a berserker using giant clubs and hammers would be doable. We don't really have a brutish dps class it feels like
this whole expansion has felt super light on the character customization front to me. Viera and beastmaster as a patch like how ninja was would be a nice good faith gesture imo
It would depend a lot on the job and race in question, really.
If I had to pick blind, I'd pick job. The way Au Ra ended up put a big downer on the idea of new races.
If it's Viera, with one sub being FFXII's and the other being the cute small ones they designed, them. Otherwise, give me my Blue Mage and Chemist.
race since I think there are a lot of jobs now
For me it would be based more on what we would get then anything.
If the job is something I would like, and the race not, then I vote job.
If the race is something I would like, and the job not, then I vote race.
If both are something I don't care for, then I don't vote at all.
And if both are something I want then I would vote job since I would get more joy out of a job I would 100% love while doing content then a race I would only ever notice while idling in town.
Hellluuuuuu
i'd have to say job just because i don't wanna spend the cash or start a new character to change races.
That'd be a bit lame imo.
Your character is whoever you want them to be, it's left deliberately ambiguous so you can fill in the blanks yourself with whatever backstory you want, the only origin you need in the context of the game's story is how you become a Scion which is what the first 20 or so levels are all about.
Changing this now would just be a slap in the face for people who care about that stuff, we already got some lore about all the races a while back anyway so you can read up on that and make up whatever origin you want for your character, there's even a spot on the Lodestone for you to post it!
Jobs > more customization to existing races > more jobs > even more jobs > a new race that is just gonna be another human with 1-2 animal elements.
They should just give midlander an ear/tail slot as equip and they got every single future race covered.
I would prefer new races over new jobs because it would make more sense to balance the existing jobs before adding new ones.
I would prefer a new race over a new job.
They can't even balance the jobs we already have, let alone a new one.
I want a new race. Playable Lupin, please.
Job balance =/= viability.
The fact there is objectively better combinations for any sort of playstyle means that the classes are not balanced.
If viability was all we needed, then classes wouldn't be nerfed if they were too high on the totem poll. In both PVP and PVE.
Race.
I already dont even have a fourth of the classes leveled, much less another one.
Jobs.
An extra tank and healer and maybe that will improve queue times. And maybe that way my 'fake friends' would stop using me just for fast queues as I'm PLD.
Make BLM, DRK, etc great again too. All jobs should be equal.
I don't blame the players but I blame SE for Job discrimination.
New job, race i would not be opposed to
I concur - Get rid of the trinity.
What you are describing here is the very point of the roles - You're only supposed to use tanks for tanking, healers for healing and, well... anyone can DPS. But you're supposed to use DPS for DPS. Switching roles around isn't even "viable", let alone competitive. Even within those roles, they made sub-nichés like ranged support to further make you use only certain jobs for certain things.
The game makes heavy use of nichés and sub-nichés in order to try and avoid balancing. Healers only compete with other healers, not DPS, so you don't need to bother balancing them. Monks don't compete for the spot of Refresh-Dispenser, only BRD and MCH do. It only seems consequent to take that approach even further.
New race if and only if they shake up the current formula. Petite and frail looking males and powerful and strong females. For males the only "light" builds are elezen and lalafell, but for burly looking females we only have female roes and highlanders to an extant. I'm not asking for butchy females. Just something between female highlander and roe for the gals and something more akin to female hyer/miq'ote for the males.
Jobs are always welcome though!
No new job.
No new race.
More options/costumization for existing ones (both jobs and races).
Especially it take some time to level 14 + 8 classes to max, so I would like to have more (effective) ways to level DoW-classes.
Race jobs are fun but im so bored of all the current races
Because you might not give a damn about what is the absolute best for a given role cause you are not a competitive PVP-et and/or savage raider.
I love my ninja to death but I switched to red mage in a heartbeat cause it looks cool, is fun to play and has a superb job story. Even counting the extra heal and raise, red mage brings a lot less to a PVE group while ninja is a master of utility. Do I give a damn? Nope. I don't intend to be a burden for anyone, but for me enjoyment is the most important factor. As long as nobody pays me for it I won't treat the game as a job.
You can play every job on one character, therefore it's no problem? Are you daft? Even the developers themselves disagree with you. This is why classes are constantly nerfed and buffed. They would not feel the need to make adjustments if they could simply hand-wave it away with "oh you can play any job/class/role on one character anyway, just switch to the objectively better one in the situation you're playing if it's really an issue."
Let's also not ignore the fact that different jobs and roles use different gear, so you can't exactly switch whenever you want unless you've somehow been gearing out both or more of those classes, but with limited tomestones + limited drops and/or tokens, that's highly unlikely until far later in a patch's life cycle. I said all playstyles, not just expert roulette or casual stuff, and switching willy-nilly is only possible at the most casual level.
You can try to spin it any way you want, but the jobs just aren't properly balanced. No amount of excuses or constant hand waving will change this. There would be no need to buff or nerf classes otherwise.
