More Egi's Or Demi-Primals?

Hi everyone thank you so much for your comments if your interested I made a thread titled Summoner Idea (pg.6) a few months ago and I talk about how the Summoner could play if Demi-Primals are implemented. I think its a good starting point but I feel like it needs to be fleshed out more. I really appreciate your feedback thank you so much:D

I'm with you at the lore side... I don't think it would be hard to bring him back in a good way... I'm more wondering how his effects should look like... actually phoenix-summons iconic ability in FF history is Reraise... now it will be really tough for balancing to integrate a grp-reraise ability you can use every 2 minutes... although I would personally like to trade a phoenix-summon with the common raise-skill, leaving RDM the only caster with a normal raise, i doubt that we will see something like that in the near future.

I really dislike summoner in this game, it feels like they keep throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks, but the job has just become this stewpot of ideas and even if one of them is good it’s still getting added to the stew full of garbage. E.G. I liked Demi-primals, I think it was a step in the right direction but its now tied to trance which I always saw as a bandaid fix to summoner underperforming in ARR and egi still exist and are as underdeveloped as ever.

Indeed, due to Summoner lore I think it would be quite easy to implement Demi-Phoenix into the SMN quest line. I definitely agree about the Re-Raise idea, I suggested something similar in one of my previous comments on this thread. It would be a hard thing to balance for sure...I think even a party wide Auto-Phoenix/Re-Raise is probably too overpowered, especially if there was more than one SMN in the party. I think the only way such a trait could be implemented and be truly balanced, would be by making the Auto-Phoenix/Re-Raise only affect the SMN....or make it so it can't be re-applied after a set CD has ticked down, like Virus before it was replaced with Addle.

aside of not being stackable it could go in phases... 2 dwts:aoe heal, 3 dwts: aoe heal/esuna/reg (maybe not all at once), 4 dwts: Reraise - that way it surly will be more and more powerful depending on your gauge-lvl but it would also stretch cooldown and recast timers... after all a demi phoenix summon would be nice in any way franchise-wise its iconic and lore-wise it fits best being one of bahamuts companions.

To throw an overly complicated idea out for this, you could give a trait alongside Phoenix, that changes SMN's rez for when Phoenix is out, to an ability that when used, first, phoenix will leave the field but secondly you place the Auto-Phoenix buff on yourself or another player that lasts for 60 to 90 seconds and the ability would have a loooooong cooldown so you can't stack it or abuse it. But when a player with the auto-phoenix buff dies, after 3 seconds they will get back up with a fiery raise effect. I don't, just an overly complicated, probably not the greatest solution to the situation.

One of the big issues though, is while thinking on this, I'm trying not to overshadow Bahamut. While yeah more demi-primals would be great, I don't think they should make Bahamut of all things obsolete.

well yeah I would say that additional Demis shouldnt have that kind of auto-atk and 2 major hits... Bahamut should still remain as the "raw burst" Demi summon - while new ones should only do mid dmg (if at all) + at least one significant buff/debuff. Like most of them have in other games as well... reraise, reflect, haste, whatever ^^

I feel like we could have Bahamut for raw burst and a demi-primal for constant DPS, but overall Bahamut should be top dog. I do agree the rest should be situational. It's just a struggle of making sure that utility doesn't make the utility summons more useful then summoning the big bad Bahamut. Unless we get Demi-Primal Ravana...then he can do whatever he wants cause I love that bug bastard!

All this talk about Demi-Primals being elder primals, and no mention of Odin?

Odin would be an amazing primal to use for the next Demi, he's super well-known, and his ultimate attack Zantetsuken is similarly iconic! Would have to not kill everything in one hit, though...

But yes, i think Demi-Primals are a good direction, though they still need some fine-tuning. It'd make summoner more varied to have them all on cooldowns so you'd cycle through them.

My only deal is right now everything is wrapped around the big primals of 1.0 and while I love the Demi-Bahamut, the story has already written around any other Egi being possible.

....unless treated as a reskin, just as carbuncles currently are, but more than just a glamour, instead as a total upgrade exactly as it was as a baby SMN. Summon 1 is now Ravana Egi, and includes a new skill, but you can roll the glamour back to Garuda or to Carbuncle if you want.

So, Egi, but I'd rather just improve the pets we have role by role than adding another and another.

I would love to have a Demi-Ramuh and Demi-Leviathan

i lost hope that they ever will focus on egis in any way neither new skills nor new egis long ago... Demi-Summons seems the way they want to go - we will see : /

Elsewhere on this topic the idea of a Shiva-Egi with a healing ability was tossed around and seemed popular.

Might be cool from both a gameplay and story perspective a Shiva-Egi with a healing ability symbolizing Ysayle watching over the Warrior of Light.

Think they should add more Egi's and get rid of Demi-Primals. Think they should make the demi-primals where you summon them for one attack then they vanish after it but your pet out never leaves. Make them something like how first final fantasy summoners where like.

Yes I would like the good king moogle mog as the next Demi summon.

Did the devs said anything new about glamour egis? We got the carbys but then never heard of it again.
I think the next Demi should replace the second DWT before we can summon Bahamut and be utility based. It can't be Alex or Phoenix because its storyline is optional, it has to be a MSQ primal. So Thordan or something that comes around 5.0.. Shinryu would be boring (another dragon) and the other primals arent exacly Demi material.

They said nothing but the games datas have some interesting bits about them

They are kinda under the pet category now as well as a bahamut egi so there's hope

Ramuh-Egi glamour is disappointing as it's probably a sign that an actual egi of it ain't happening.

Just watch some NPC use those Egis against us, that is why they will be under pets lol. One must never forget how trollish SE can be with SMN.

disappointing is that we haven't got the glam until now... since its ingame like "forever"? same with seph glam skin... they just don't care q.q
if you think back the time they confirmed carbuncle glam they needed more than 2 month to release them... and they had actually NO WORK on them... cause they were already finished and use on your base cls... same goes for Ramuh egi skin its already ingame since aar... whats the problem to release it? they most probably dont give a fuck about egis at all : /
