With the QoL changes in XI you can't really de-level unless you want too lol. Well I mean you can but you for the most part have to make it happen.

I'd like treasure hunting to not be restricted to just maps. Maybe have lesser treasures scattered throughout each zone that give level specific drops, gil, etc. Maybe a system like the compass we use for aether currents, but for buried treasure as well.
I think the core reason they don't expand open world content, which has been reiterated numerous times in the live letters, is their worry over camping/hoarding/etc. Especially in regard to the above post about treasure chests.
But even MMO's that perhaps have everything suggested so far suffer from the same issue of zones becoming dead. For a while I thought this game did very well to address the issue... but then POtD happened. Which is what happens in other MMO's; the community gets tunnelled into this content over in this corner.
A couple of pages back someone also nailed it on the head; the typical reaction from this community to open world stuff is a big giant groan noise.
Thats largely because everything they do thats open world is nothing more than a massive fate grind. Seasonal event's are mostly fates. The big Easter one springs to mind as a prime example
Yokai is one Massive fate grind. The relic steps that were mentioned as open world are just mind numbing fate grinds for atma / crystals.
Hunts are basically just fates that don't appear on the map. Zerging an a/s rank really is no different at all from zerging most of the boss fates.
And as has been said many many times. People really hate fates they are boring lifeless zergs.
It's exactly the same reason diadem 2.0 failed because all it was was just another brainless fate grind.
