Luck. Yep. You didn't do anything I didn't do and I still had queues of 1000+. So what's your point? You did what probably tens of thousands of people did at that same time and were lucky enough to get in without much issue.

Considering the popularity of a lottery-type system in the JP region, there’s a lot of speculation that’s what 4.2 is going to bring. Still just a shift in RNG/luck—now it’s not “Are you going to be lucky enough for the server not to crash on you” but “Are you going to be lucky enough for the server to choose you”. No planning involved there other than entering your name into the raffle and a lot of praying.
You got your house. Congrats. That doesn’t give you the right to act pretentious about it though, or give you the right to say others didn’t plan just as much or as hard, if not more so, than you. So please, take a few seats.

Even if they double the amount of Wards (unlikely, but for the sake of this post), it is not a lasting solution to Housing in this game. The more the community grows, the more in demand housing is going to become. Without a steady influx of supply, or an infinite supply a la instanced housing, there will be no satisfying the playerbase. Hence why so many people say to either shift towards or add instanced wards, or at least expand on the apartments so that they are not just more expensive FC rooms with none of the added FC benefits.
"Are you 12?" -you, at some point in response to being condescended to in this thread.
Yes, in fact I've been preparing since it was announced. Wife and I have been crafting a storm and planning routes. None of that matters if the game just doesn't let either of us in though.
Attempted to download patch when it went live. Got the version check error that after fifteen minutes of troubleshooting required reinstalling. Thankfully I keep a partial back-up so it was not as long as it could have been. Then...error 9002 tossing me in to an 800 person queue. Tell me, oh swami, how I could have prevented either of those?
i guest the word spread out we see differntly but yes anew way to sell and buy is coming,
If you think this is why SE isn't saying any thing we must be playing 2 differnt games..If any thing this company would make billboards if you had to buy extra accounts there all about the $$$$.
This is the same company that locked creating a character on a server then still allowed 1'000's of people to pay the $18 to transfer in saying welcome to Balmug enjoy the Q times. lol
My guess is its GC related either highest rank/seals or hunt seals for houses
Could also have to do with FC's. There was a recent hotfix to prevent FC Fraud (which is pretty broad) so it may be they're shifting to the priority system folks kept asking for with some wards FC priority, others transfer priority, and still others for those without any home.
Sounds convoluted but with SE who knows. /shrug
yea true might be a fc point system need X amount of points to get certain plots not sure. I really don't have a dog in the new house fight . im more concerned stopping flippers and keeping what i have had for a year now...
I just hope SE is smart enough to add double the wards in shiro as to the other wards...the demand for the shiro style is way higher then say goblett for sure. if they dont we just gonna end up with 15 threads of i had to settle in the goblett cause Shiro soled out again
Interesting because Hyomin and I were up several hours before the patch went live and had it downloaded well before. Both of us were spamming the World icon to refresh the launcher and connected at precisely 6am EST. What happened? Server lobby error crashed the whole launcher, which wouldn't restart due to faulty programming-- something the devs later acknowledged and issued an emergency patch for. Basically, we did everything you did except you were luckier than us. So, please, go ahead and explain how this is a trainable asset that both of lack.
You did nothing differnt then 10,000's of people, the "luck" part is you didn't get hit with a error or Q........ All the pre-nonsense you mentioned guess what most of us did heck my crew of 9 didnt sleep .we downloaded the patch the min it went live you know when pc people got screwed over for the first 15 mins and ps4 (like me) downloaded it in 3 mins. and we sat u the rest of the night talking till servers went live 4 of us got right in 5 didnt (2ppl in the same house 1 got in 1 didnt). you cant train for luck
When the game devs come out and say how sorry they were for the errors people got when trying to loggin. there is no preparing for errors.
You, Sir, do not know the definition of luck. You are also the most pretentious player I have met in this game. You have no compromise. None. I’m sure if someone was saying this to you, you would be upset too. Walk two moons in another person’s shoes for once. Where is your empathy? The stuff you’re saying is what causes resentment between the haves and have nots. And no, in my three years of playing, I have never had the opportunity to get a house due to the issues others have outlined.
I’m hoping Square Enix realizes how much backlash there is for not giving more opportunities for housing. It would really help the life of the game for a lot of people.
Empathy?! XD I went from homeless to homeowner in reality. It took 10 years total. "Walk two moons in another person's shoes"? Why? I experienced and beat this FOR REAL. I'm not concerned at all about people losing out on a fake house in a video game.
Speaking of pretentious... I mean, damn. XD
I was downloaded and ready before launch, and applied the fix that was found for the bad launcher about 30 minutes before the server went live. Yes. You CAN prepare for errors. I certainly did, which is why I was ready to go and others weren't.
I'd say "better luck next time", but 4.1 was the last land rush. Glad I got to participate.
My version check error required a complete reinstall. I keep a partial back up on hand just in case something like this happens which shortens the process considerably.
It sounds like your fix did not require such a drastic method. So tell me, again, how could I have been more prepared? I had been playing just fine till servers went offline, it was only once the patch went live for download the error cropped up. I was still done downloading just before servers went live. Then a 9002 error hit, an error caused by SE themseleves and nothing on the player's end. That put me in an 800 person queue. I logged in five minutes late and wasn't able to relocate as planned.
Tell me, how could I have been better prepared? What other possible step could I have taken? How do you prevent an error not caused by your hardware or connection but by the game's own server?
Simple, you don't. SE admitted that their servers malfunctioned under the login strain. They hotfixed a glitch that prevented people from transferring their homes. It is right there in their statements and at this point you are being willfully ignorant and intentionally inflammatory.
Good day ser.
ahhh see you assume lol my wife n i got right i personaly didnt 2 $&^% about shiro housing since ive had 3 houses for a year, my wife did get her beach front in shiro, because she didnt get screwed by errors n q's, as i stated others were ready to they just got hit with errors and q times you can not prepare for
Said fixes were not released 30 minutes prior to the game going live unless you completely reinstalled your game prior to that. And it seems like it didn't fix much since you admitted your launcher still malfunctioned, much like everyone else's launcher. There is literally nothing anyone can do to correct lobby server errors because that is a server-side, not client-side, error, but continue to tell yourself that.
Again, please stop with the pretentious condescension.
HyominPark, this thread goes by less infuriating if you imagine him like this:

I truly hope this doesn’t drop out of consideration for SE. they showed they could do this with apartments. Why not allow Free Companies the option to have an instanced house?
Please, SE!
Not only is instanced housing necessary to meet player demand, some people would prefer it. I would gladly give up my house in the wards for an instanced one with a better view and none of the small annoyances of warded housing (people riding by on loud mounts or hopping around on the rooftops, decorating their yards with gaudy trash or blocking your beautiful waterfall view with a huge paissa face, etc.).
Instance Housing would be amazing and honestly solve all the housing problems. I don't buy the "But the community!" post to be honest.
MMOs such as EQ2, Wildstar, Rift and ESO have instance housing and they have one of the best housing communities out there, player events when showing off new houses, people who do videos on house tours and a before and after and so on, forums where people share their new ideas too!
They really grew a tight knit community in those MMOs just because of housing.
Well we have gardening, wich can bring in a nice bit of profit.
Looking at the flying chair mount.
This would be really nice - especially if they expanded apartments.
I'd be ok with just them making sure apartments are capable of all the features a player can access to with a house (specifically, cross breeding gardening! Patios/Balconies, make it happen)
From the Dualshockers interview:
Full interview hereQuote:
Regarding apartments, processes involving plots of land are executed within the zone in which they reside, while the interior of a house on a plot of land has its home within a separate housing server. Due to this, we cannot apply land management (i.e. a terrace) to an apartment, as its processing is the same as a house interior.
Well, that doesn't look very hopeful at all.
Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but that sounds like gardening is not going to happen for apartments, even if they do manage to expand them. It also sounds like there might be technical reasons why instanced housing hasn't been considered as a solution.
Not technical. What this and other remarks Yoshida has made in regards to housing tells me he or they can't think outside of the context of how things work today. Even given his comment there is no reason they couldn't make a terrace another room that looks like it is outside and add the ability to use larger planters where plants could crossbreed.
