123 BIG-WOK-WAY, It's right next to Little-wok-way.
While I have no desire to turn this thread into another one arguing over how many people we think the max population is down too, I took that statment from another post in which the population was the topic and people from many servers had been replying how many people were on their server during peak hours. Its not pretty. I think peak for Kashuan was like 300 folks serverwide. Thats the highest I have seen so far, and I poke around and do a server search at different times daily. Of course, Kashuan was already a very small server before they billed.
Well, I think that in terms of things like all the gil that is currently in the game, I don't see how they could ever fix the economy without doing a gil wipe. WHile I know they won't, because they said they won't, I just can't see how the economy will ever be balanced with the billions of in game money floating around now. Gil synchs are nice and all for those that only had a few mil, but even on small servers like Kashuan, you have many players that have hit half a billion in gil. Like Jynx said though, much of it would have to do with how many new players joined the game in the future vs those of us that are "legacy" players and have been on since launch.
I guess time will tell.
Given the number of people that have replied positively vs the people like Jynx that just show up to take a dump on everyones cheerios for no reason, I would still call the Op a success. And thanks :)
Yes oh great one I came into your thread to "Dump on your cheerios" All I said is that I don't think the community needs a friendly reminder that they effect the game as a whole.
Needs more love and peace up in here I guess.
One thing many people fail to understand in estimating users based on the people online on one server at one moment is that the X number of people you see at one time and the X number of people you see at another time are not going to be all the same people. You could have (example) 1000 active users with characters on a server. If they all log on at different hours of the day, you might see less than 100 of them online at the same time. All I'm saying here is that people tend to lowball the numbers it when they use this method (Also, last I checked the search won't return more than 200 results- so how are you calculating this?)Quote:

Search all the folks in one GC, then the next, then the third, and finally search for all the people that aren't in a GC at all, throw in a little addition and viola, the current online user numbers. Again, much like the entitlement discussion, the population was but one very small portion of my OP (some might even say it was but a few words). If I have upset you by low balling it, then I apologize. And yes, I understand the concept that its impossible to get a 100% accurate count of how many people are now actively on my server. Hell there are people that may only log on twice a week for 2 hours, I get it. Would you have felt better had I said "The tens of thousands of us that are left"? Because I can't accuratly make that statement any more than I could the one I made. None of us can. Only SE knows the numbers. I felt safe in the assumption that the total was fewer than 10k but, I freely admit I could be totally wrong, and more to the point, I hope I am.
I'm not "upset" or offended or anything that you made any suggestion about the size of the userbase at all. I'm not sure what you're getting your pants in a bunch for. I merely asked a legitimate question: "Is it really as bad as this guy is saying it is?" Basically, looking for people to corroborate what you're saying. It's not an attack on you, I'm not offended, you've taken my post to mean something other than what it is intended to.Quote:

(As an aside: For Recruits, they can be in more than one GC, so the same person could turn up more than once in different searches- Thre's a whole mess of factors that make this difficult to estimate, so as you pointed out, only SE knows for sure.)
No one character can be enrolled in more than one Grand Company at time. You can do quests for all three when you are starting out, but not after a certain point. And there is no way (as of yet) to switch companies once you have formally enlisted. So when you search for all the people in my server that are part of Ul'dahs GC, you ussually get about 130-195. I then start over and search for all the ones in LL's GC, and so on. But your right, once any of those numbers crack the 200 mark, you would have to search by level, and thats just to much work for this galka. I miss how could just see the current active world pop in the world search like they had in xi. Maybe when they redo the server client they will tweek this.
