If folks post some more trace routes that will show if it's all going through a common point. My connection and Allizar's are getting to Japan via different servers (different ISP's have different routes to Japan). I would assume the game goes the same route. If the disconnect is because of a DOS or something it should affect trace route as well. And why did this suddenly happen to a bunch of us at the same time today.

How do I trace?

That's my question as well... The day we start paying for service is the day we all start having issues.... Most of us have centurylink some comcast some charter but I called centurylink they are seeing no reason why we are running into this. And I must admit I don't see it as our ISP concidering we all have been playing prior to the pay date and had no issues. I know the Devs are working on it so that's helpful! I just want my game up. And now I can't even get to the char screen... PLEASE DO SOMETHING ASAP!!!

I just got in, after 3 hours.... Something was wrong someplace. And I don't dare disconnect...

Its not just different ISPs, if you trace again you will get different routes because the internet is a packet switched network, ie packets of data take different routes based on the state of links etc, about the only circuit switched network around now is the phone network, because they need data to arrive in the right order, whereas actual data can arrive at differant times and be held onto to until the previous ones arrive.

So packet 1 might go through the 200.3.5.0 network on the 3rd hop, but packet 2 could go through the 170.20.0.0 network.

I would agree that it was an ISP thing, if Xbox Live, World Of Warcraft, PSN and Steam weren't all working just fine.

Ya, but eventually if there's really a problem it would show up as a common spot.

Anyway to trace route you use the tracert command.

But whatever it was it seems to be gone for many...

Different streams -- You could have connection problems and Skype would still work.

Was able to log in successfully,
Logged out and logged back in again no problem, so hopefully what ever this was is over.

Hey everyone try to login again and see if you have the same issue I think it may have been fixed :D

The ISP at fault secretly found the problem it looks like, unless bayohne would like to enlighten us :)

Secretly fixing things while not acknowledging it was your fault in the firstplace...

This is actually quite common among a lot of companies, so we may just have to leave it at that. >_>

Ok so my boyfriend and I have been trying to play together, usually when we zone one of us gets kicked out, then the one of us who got kicked signs back in the other gets kicked out. Basically rinse repeat for an hour until we give up and stop playing. Man I'm kind of regretting subscribing now lol..

So there's a major flaw in your game that basically stops people from being able to play and this is all you have to say on behalf of SE? Like most problems in this game, this should have been fixed right away or before it even happened. Please get back to us soon.

I do know me and my brother used to have the same kind of issue, we bought a new router and shazam problem solved. FFXIV has terrible packet retention so if you have a cheap or old router having multiple instances of XIV running can overload the routers capacity to properly send packets.

At least in my experience.

Still wish the game had better packet retention though...
