We're just talking about showing us a few screenshots, not giving us an early release of the game.

I know and its understandable, I chew at the bit waiting for them as well. My assumption is that they dont cause if they decide to change something the forums would explode. At this stage they are prob tweaking alot still so they do not want to set up ppl expectations ^^
Note to self... never reply.
I think it's important for us to let you all know that we are planning for these things, instead of just not replying if we don't have specific dates/information/screenshots/demo/playable/trailer/animatic/stick figures to share. It can go both ways, though, for sure. It's important to have concrete information on specific topics, but for things that are asking for previews of upcoming content, I'd rather we be forthcoming with information like "yep, we're workin' on it!" or "sorry, no plans at this time for [xyz]." That way, everyone is in the loop as much as possible.
Here I am, quoting the same paragraph from that big-ass button to the left on the Lodestone main page....
Quote:
Among our new plans is the fundamental reworking of in-game maps. As part of this process, there will be a period required for switching over to a new client and new servers, after which there will be a large transfer of data when service is brought back online. After the new client is completed, new software for the PC version will be distributed online, and can be acquired free of charge. Character data and progress for players already playing the PC version will also be preserved, allowing those players to continue using their in-game avatars. Another announcement will be made in the future as the day on which the new FINAL FANTASY XIV software will become available for download draws near, and the PlayStation®3 system version officially released.
Try to go one day without complaining once =P Good luck lol. We are lucky they reply even if the reply isn't exactly what you are hoping for. At least they didn't just ignore the thread and let it go on for pages with us wondering what is going on.
That has been my mantra for 99.9% of these threads since the Forums 1st opened.
I am still debating (with myself...a MasterDebater) when my Crysta runs out should I post the Mother of all "Not Another Goodbye Threads"...but I will most likely just fade away quietly.
In fact, I should just delete this reply but oh well.
yes i think every 3 months SE should send out a few teasers so we can look ahead of the future.
Need that we all be reminded that SE has made leaps and bounds beyond what they used to do? Surely I'm not the only one that noticed this. The fact that they're responding to questions, listening to their customers, and even taking time out to reply to a from what I see, uncalled for remark like that is surprising. The old SE would do ninja changes and we wouldn't know what to expect until patch date. There wasn't even any information on what they had in store. So for me I'm glad they at least respond with something beyond a typical cut-n'-paste reply. Probably doesn't need to be said but thank you for giving it a shot Bayohne!
EDIT: But since we're on the subject of previews and all, I'm curious if previews for stuff like the other jobs (Bard, Dragoon, etc.) may be released soon or before 1.21 is released? I know an exact estimate can't be given, I'd rather the team focuses more on getting their stuff done than wasting time giving us little teasers. Also, on the thing about Bard, do we know if down the road these will be actual songs (The character begins to sing with actual vocals, even if it's just a "La, La, La.") or will they work similar to spellcasting like Swiftsong?
If it was "sorry, you will have to wait and see them by yourself" or "sure, we plan to release a screenshot in advance" both would been fine. I'm not saying don't reply, I'm saying don't reply with arbitrary statements.
Ask anyone and they tell you "we're looking into it" been on of the most annoying answers this community experienced.
Sorry, morbol I know you're just trying to do your job
i wont rest until we have unqiue casting animations and weapon animations
Exactly. Unfortunately, looks like adding subs did nothing to remove the "children" with no home training.
Examples? See below
You two are an embarrassment to this community. Bayohne's response is going to become SE's response if you don't keep your pie holes shut. Yoshi in his OWN words said as much towards the end of his long reply about Moving to Stop Spell Casting.
It's probably best to just close this thread, it's turning into nothing but personal attacks and it's not even relevant anymore.
Wonderful community.

Thank you, Bayohne, for all of your replies, and thank you to the whole community team as well. I really love how open and communicative the XIV team is. Honestly, back in the fall of 2010 I never thought that we would have the kind of access to the game's creators that we do now. It's wonderful!
As for your reply, it answered one of my main questions. I had been wondering whether the new zones would be kept mostly under wraps until the distribution of the 2.0 client, with maybe a sneak peek at E3. Now I know that we're going to see screenshots/receive information periodically in the lead-up to 2.0, which is pretty exciting.
I figure that the dev team will likely release screenshots when they feel that they are polished enough to show. I'm not going to lie, though: I'd love to be a fly on the wall over in the dev studio.
...assuming I wouldn't get squashed or anything. And that I could turn back into a human later on.
I would thoroughly enjoy stick figure concept art. Bayohone please break into Yoshi's office and give us some stick figures!
What is this...I don't even.

I can't comprehend how you came to this conclusion based on the above community team reply. Dear lord I hope they don't think everyone who posts here is like this.
I personally like it much better when you talk to us Bayonneh. And, even when you don't have precise information to share, it always hint us toward the future, which we are all looking forward to.
I like you work community reps, keep it up! :D
(even though I jump the switch every now and then when I'm tired and reading the forum, please bear with me!)
LOL Apparently you still have no reading comprehension! Read my history. May not be all that but I have been playing this game since OB so I'll say exactly what I need to and still play. Your rude and childish now 2 comments are again, what makes this community suck not me sir. Thanks and play on. ;)
I thought the preview in the 2.0 zone was just something they did really quick to get people excited and hang on until 2.0. The thumbnail was so small you can't really see the details. But a ponce further inspection I've notice that the zone and graphic look the same, but with more added tree, grass, rock, etc. to it. It sure does not look the same as the 2.0 Screenshot graphic engine.
I normally don't reply to stuff like this, but since you quoted me directly, I'll make an exception. All I did was say that I don't understand why they need to plan and make a timeline just to post a few screenshots. You might not agree, that's fine, but don't tell me to shut up. My opinion is just as valid as yours.
And just to make it clear, I wasn't the one who said Bayhone shouldn't reply to us when he doesn't have anything solid to show us. That was Cichy. We're not the same person. I've said numerous times in the past that even a "we're looking in to it" reply is better than nothing.
I didn't read any of the crying in this thread. My input to new zones would be not to rush it and release it when its 100% perfect. Make the game so it will last another 10 years! Quick release always will fail, Most of us are in it for the long run no matter how long it takes. I love the game how it is right now and will only get better :)
It's hilarious. Everyone just gets on what the next person says...just like I am. These forums seriously suck, and that's simply why I don't post very often. The only thing that keeps me around here are the dev posts.
And to keep things ON topic, teaser shots would be nice. The rate that we get new info is terribly slow. A lot of people are anxious and impatient, like myself and would like glimpses of what we are actually going to see eventually, not just concept art.
