Because they responded rather than just letting us languish. They didn't have to, especially Yoshi personally.
I appreciate good PR, and I'm hopeful as well for the solution.

We have been posting for years about the problems and some solutions to the housing system. This one was not the only one that got quite the hate (but seemingly the strongest one) and yet they never changed anything. They introduced apartments where they promised us to increase the number to the highest one when they are full and they never did..also apartments itself are not a good solution since they are way too small. We again and again offered our constructive solutions to the problems and even talked about other MMOs where they could get some inspiration from. Yet with the release of SB they just told us that all these ideas where for nothing since they simply went with their faulty and limited system again..
And are now suddenly surprised that it ended that way. An apology was the minimum of what they should have done and as long as we dont even know how many wards we will get and what other solutions they have, I will not thank them because the past showed me quite a bit about their form of solution. (And its not like they cant just go back on their posts either.)
I have nothing against him or any other dev as a person...nobody of us even truly know how they are in private. But he is the face of FF14 and he is responsible for a lot of decisions in this game so he also has to take criticism.
And before you ask: If I make a I mistake in my work life I truly try to apologize because nobody is without flaw and it should not be that hard to say "sorry" if one messed up. But saying sorry is not going to do it in a lot of cases. You have to bring results too and as long as we dont have these results I will remain skeptic about this.
A prompt response is pretty much mandatory from a PR perspective and the devs would have been insane not to.
While appreciated, a response to say "yeah, we know it's a problem but we cant say how we'll fix it long term" does not deserve to be treated like the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Save that kind of praise for when they actually implement something everyone is going to be happy with (which given the track record, is not something I see happening...)
the matter is... Yoshida knows well to apologize, in four years, it is an activity where he is already lvl 100.
Most of his apologize was finally only speaks...
The FFXIV housing story is full of lie and fail from the team (and Yoshida so) and full of apologize from yoshida. But here we are... 4 years after the issue is always here...
