We need a statement from the developers

I don't agree in the slightest SE needs to release a statement regards housing. Its established this is the system we have, despite its many flaws, and people by now should be well aware of that. I would love to see it changed to instanced housing lots with a single community ward with activities in it, however I doubt we will ever see the system change after the resources invested in what we have.

Its optional content some people will have to live without unfortunately.

A lot of people aren't upset over that. They're upset over the fact log in errors are what caused them to lose even a slight opportunity. Numerous posts here have specifically said they either got a 5006 error or 90k'd after logging in. Basically, things entirely out of their control.

Glamour art and glamour systems are two different things. FFXIV has great glamour options. But the method of putting that on? WoW is years ahead. WoW doesn't make me hold on to old items indefinitely in case I might want to use them in a glamour someday. It simply logs that I had it at some point, and then I can choose it from the list of everything unlocked. Done.

YoshiP talks about inventory size issues all the time. Want to shrink player inventory? Don't make people use an entire retainer to hoard clothes for glamour.

Housing is in the same boat. The housing stuff itself is great. The artificial scarcity is a farce in a subscription game.

Why can't we have apartments that are the same size as small, medium, and large houses? Like a penthouse? I was up an hour and a half before the server went live and pre-patched and everything. Then right on the dot I tried to log in and had nothing but Launcher.exe lag, crashes, etc and when I did get into the game I was in queue for nearly 15 minutes. By the time I logged in every plot in every ward was already taken. My friend managed to get in a few minutes before me and had already informed me of the bad news because literally all the plots were gone in less than 10-15 minutes flat.

Personal housing was a mistake to begin with.



if you add such a feature you must have the ways to serve the demands. Then they put personal and FC housing in the same spot. This create even more disparity, cause with FC housing you can serve more players with less resources, right now people with a large FC house have a Personal Large house, with group of people out of the content.



Then, on top of this mountain of bad decisions, they decided to not limit the personal housing. So one character can buy a bunch of them in every city state. If you can't afford ,server wise, the load for personal housing, you have to manage your resources. Serving more people in the form of FC housing.



Yeah the neightbour feeling is nice, but is not affordable right now. you can't create such a disparity. FC housing for the ward and istanced for individual are a cool solution.



You got the neightbour in the form of your FC, and the full decision on the interior in your personal instanced house.

I see that makes a bit more sense , hmm sounds familiar coming from this game, errors and stuff on release tend to always happen that is pretty unfortunate. But I hope even if some couldnt get housing in the new area maybe some where able to pick up old houses in the older wards. But housing seems to have been a crisis this whole games lifespan so I cant be surprised its truely a game of luck which sucks for alot of people.

The statement will be the servers yada yada yada issues, memory yada yada yada issues, the list will go on with what his statement would be about. Its a joke all of it.

"It was a DDOS attack, literally nothing we could do folks. Our servers are more than capable of handling normal player demands but we get DDOS every time we put out new content. Nothing's going to change because we swear it's not our crappy equipment or flat-out refusal to invest more into the one game that's keeping the company alive right now."

this is exactly what happened to me, i couldnt log in for 25minutes even though i could log in right after the servers went up, got in queue was 108 and at the loading screen to get into the game i got world data error thing and this lasted 25minutes!

This would simply be solved if they adopted a dynamic system similar to Lord of the Rings Online (at least how it was when their housing launched its been some time since I played that game). Basically when all of the original 12 wards are sold and at 100% capacity a 13th ward would open, when that is 100% sold another new ward would open, so it was dynamic based need - now if auto demolition opened up a lot in the original 12 wards - it would freeze a dynamic ward sales until all 12 original wards where 100% sold again and the system would continue until there was no more market demand - aka all players are happy.SE has made excuses about memory limitations in the past which are just that - excuses - its 2017 - games have done similar systems for the past 10 years - even DAoC had way more housing for its players and still does compared to what we get with FFXIV. Its a shame and to be honest I would leverage dev time to get this done its something the community wants and as all the research as shown social aspects of the game are the ones that drive player retention the most.

Well if you are going to be that way, then why are raid communities in the game?

80% of the playerbase doesn't do raids. Should SE stop developing raids?

Instanced apartments should be instanced houses with yards, gardening, outdoor furnishings, chocobo stables, larger item limits.

Dyes shouldn't be NPC or AH based, they should be a palette book you can upgrade via achievement or completing something. Glamours should be book without the requires specific X to glamour specific Y. Maybe require global generic prism.

It sounds like I don't understand the anger, but I sort of do. I couldn't get a SB house. SE will end up changing housing, I am just wondering if anything feature wise would have to be gutted in order to achieve everyone getting a house. Why can't a better instanced solution exist beside the current system is my question.

Nothing odd about the reason they simply don't want to spend the money needed to do it.

You know, if you go to 100 ward, it will allow 24000 houses. Balmung gets 20k activ characters.
The matter wouldnt be entirely solve, but if you consider some people dont care about housing... We could be close to solve it...

Before saying "more plot would be for rerolls" just, ask yourself "how does all other housing system"
Because, be clear... even with 1 house per account, and some controll in FC, THERE IS NOT enough houses...

Just let me increase the size of my apartment to a small/medium/large house interior with a gardening plot and I'll be happy, honestly... wouldn't even be very complicated to do either.

My problems with apartments are that 1. you can't add tenants, 2. you can't use it as fc and 3. there only is small ones.
If your fc has the money for a large house and doesn't care much about having a neighborhood, apartments still can't give them instanced housing. And instanced doesn't mean one room cut off from everything. It can mean an island, or a more complex room with a balcony, or a cabin on a flying rock somewhere in abalanthia. The instanced housing we got that is still limited and sold out on some really big servers is probably the cheapest possible solution to implement it.

Apartments have probably just been a means to shut up the masses from the get-go. They're not really any better than the free inns in the major city cept that you can put down some stuff here and there.

Really need to make housing a quest like the relic quest, that will slow down the rush and give fc's a fighting chance to get one. It would be more of a reward for time dedication rather than winning the log in que lottery.

If you'd make a quest out of it, you might aswell give everyone one in the end, cuz no1 wants to go through a sheer enless quest-chain, to get NOTHING in return. We're back to square one.

No, a quest would just make matters worse, having people do the quest and then get nothing at the end of it?

The system needs either a radical change or they have to literally bump up the wards by an extremely large margin.

This situation has gone out of hand,that's the truth and SE needs to take a stance, which i hope isn't "we don't care".
