It's semi relevant if he played 4 years and complains that he can't access these items cause he don't meet the requirements. But I guess you won't see my side and be rude about it. Good day.

No one is to blame for anything. Unless he looks at a different tab than he should, then him. But that's got nothing to do with length of his play.
Both you and Rinuko miss a very important part. He could access them before (or so he claims) and he cannot access them now (or so he claims). If he couldn't have accessed them before, then this thread would have ended on "progress on the main quest storyline"...and that's all. But as it is, there IS something off. Either his error (wrong tab) or a change to prerequisites that is on a per-expansion basis instead of being universal are most likely coolprits.
Also, stop looking to blame someone for everything. Especially since you don't lose anything in majority of what other players do. "Blaming" is something you do when someone did something that resulted in a loss for you, or at least someone related to you. Blaming random people for stuff that does not affect you in any actual way is rude.
Huh?! How was I rude?! I simply stated cold facts. the length of his subscription is irrelevant, because it's not something that's unlocked by length of subscription. How long he plays would matter only for discussion about veteran rewards. Simple as that. The rude one was you, you even had to self-censor yourself.
OP seems to have 17 months subbed on that account at best, his last veteran reward was Wind-Up Goblin - which is the 15 month reward, the 18 month being Wind-Up Gilgamesh. He also has hardly any minions or mounts.....for someone 'doing all the sidestuff'...everything about his thread is weird. From not giving enough information to not understanding why people are requesting a pic.
*eye roll* It's possible they added the requirement at a later date, you know a patch?
If he did see it before SB was active in his account. Which i now doubt but we'll never know.
The fact i brought up the sub time is its unreal to me (and obviously other people too) that if you played this game for so long (4 years or more if you were around beta) and havn't even cleared base msq (meaning up to 2.1)? Then I think it's a valid question what you been up to during this time. Again OP never said he took longer period of breakes to explain why he didnt beat Ultimate Weapon.
Considering how much in this game are gated behind MSQ i find this questionable.
Lol, im leaning more towards what someone already said. OP smells like a troll poster
I'm not looking for someone to blame, but if his issue is he's not able to access the mount speed upgrades and he doesn't have the 2.0 MSQ completed, which is apparently the "flag" for the second speed upgrades, then the only thing we can do is tell him he needs to do the MSQ to get them. I don't think he saw them before, he may have confused them with something else. His lack of a screenshot doesn't help, his attitude doesn't help either. So no, I'm not trying to blame him, but at the same time, if he's unable to cooperate, then it falls onto him and not us for the fact that he isn't getting the help he's asking for. I'm not vilifying him, but I'd rather you didn't vilify me for his own errors.
Then the answer would be that they changed that in a patch. But no one said that. Whether or not that was the case.
It being real or unreal is not relevant though. That's my point. Whether or not that is true simply have zero effect on the content of what the main post is about. It's like this. If a person asks you what hour is it, do you answer them by saying that there's a pharmacy behind them and then move on?! No. This is exactly what you did. And you even implied to connect that "pharmacy" answer with the "time" question, as if they were in any way related.
It may be a valid question...for a topic that is related to "time". This is not. It's just not relevant.
Maybe. But if that's the case...then there would be even less of a point in your writing what you did. The original poster got an answer that may solve his problem. There was another person in this thread claiming the same, that may end up having their problem solved in just the same way. Nothing else matters. This may be a general discussion forum, but threads are started for specific reasons. They are not for general discussion about random stuff you can think of, or to satisfy your curiosity. If you want such a thread...go ahead and make one. Heck, make one, with a link to this, discussing whether this thread is a troll thread or not, or a more general thread about people that claim to have played for a long time, while their progress is slow, and whether it's reasonable or what can be the reason for that.
And on that note, this entire discussion is off on those grounds...so this'll be the last post from me on the matter.
I don't vilify anyone. I just said that bringing into question his claim of being a player from beta is not relevant for the discussion, and that you, while defending the poster that brought up his game time, implied that he's to blame for something. "(...)who else is to blame for him not playing the MSQ in those four years and then complaining on the OF?". The bolded part clearly states that there is someone to blame. If there was an option of there being no one to blame assumed there, then the word blame wouldn't even have been used, let alone in that context. Using the word "responsible" would be far more suitable, saying that the responsibility for him not having access to the maps is on him.
However, "blame" is one of the words that are extremely overused. It have negative connotations to it, while people use it willy nilly, completely ignoring that fact. It's just how language is, and can't really be helped though, so there's no reason to vilify anyone in particular for that...except some language teachers, that is.
It might just be that the requirement for them to show up is "have completed msq". Before you installed the expansion it counted as complete, cause hw msq was as far as you could get, once expansion was installed, msq was incomplete.
I'd just go progress the main story, you'll have to do that anyway eventually to unlock all the zones for your gatherers and crafters, then check back and see if the maps show up. If they still don't, I'd assume a bug and file a report.
Perhaps if your first post in the thread was less abrasive, people would feel more inclined to see your ‘side’ of this debate.
I would still like to see a screenshot, however, of the OP’s Allied Seals menu. It would probably help far more than this back and forth of “they were there before, but now they arent” and “did you check the appropriate section”.
It’s MSQ completion for the current expansion that is required, not the entire MSQ as a whole. So, to access the ARR level 2 maps, you have to complete “The Ultimate Weapon”; for HW, “Heavensward”; and for SB, “Stormblood”. I have a friend with an alt in the middle of ARR’s 2.2 storyline, and she has almost all of the level 2 mount speed maps for the ARR areas.
what an utter waste of a 6 page post.... this guy just doesnt get it.
If I want to take 5 years to go through the MSQ, then I will take 5 years to go through the MSQ without thinking twice about your opinions.
This thread isn't about any of that.
I simply want to get to the bottom of this issue for me and anyone else having the problem.
Here are the screenshots that show nothing.

I was wrong about the menu only having one option earlier, that was my mistake. But rest assured, they are all gone.
I am still moving forward through the MSQ.
I am really sorry that I ever came here for help in the first place. I thought I was being thorough and saving everyone some time; however, all I have done is upset people. When this issue is resolved I'll quietly take my leave.
I'll report back when I get through the rest of the game. Thanks again to the supporters.
So I read through the entire thread. And I notice you've not been reading the replies. One of which told you you needed to have finished The Ultimate Weapon to have them unlocked. It took you SIX PAGES for a screenshot. And now, plain and simple, answer the question. Have you finished The Ultimate Weapon?
You're taking your time through the main story quest, you're level 53, my money's on no.
What about the fact that the maps were there before don't you understand in the title of the thread? So yes, I did read the replies. The fact remains that the maps were present prior to the upgrade to Stormblood. That seems to be the very thing that ALOMOST everyone here has missed.
Completing "The Ultimate Weapon" has brought the riding maps back. So there is something going on where if you upgrade the way I did, you should have access to those maps until you upgrade to Stormblood.
Anyone having the same issue will have to complete the 7th Umbral Era Quests to get the maps back.
I would imagine the person who wasn't able to see them in HW would either have to upgrade to SB or complete the HW MSQ as well. I can't say for sure.
I can't stress the importance of actually reading and understanding. I repeated myself multiple times on this thread just trying to say what I said in the beginning.
Hardly anyone seemed to understand that the maps were available to me early and were removed.
Thank you to those who offered advice and experiences to make this easier. I really appreciate it. Thank you to the forum for allowing me a place to ask questions. I hope this helps somebody out there understand if they see content disappear in their instance of the game.
I mean, I've been keeping up with the story. I don't know why buying Stormblood locks you out of buying the maps early (which I guess they did in your case), but that seemed to be the problem, since it let you bypass the requirements. Now that you've had Stormblood, it's proceeding through MSQ to unlock the maps. You probably would have ran into this problem if you were in Heavensward too.
In my experience it seemed odd but I would have no way to replicate it without spending an extra 45 or so, so showing the icon just in case of terminal derp is the best one can do, without being a jerk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I suspect that upgrading to stormblood had nothing to do with them disappearing. I suspect your being able to see them without having finished the initial ARR MSQ was due to a bug that was subsequently fixed.
I've been playing for quite a while (much less than you), but I too have been primarily focusing on the crafting/gathering classes. So much so that I've only gotten up to a level 24 MSQ quest. My main was already over 51 in his Warrior class before I looked up how to get the maps. I too did see them on the list, and after getting a few seals, actually purchased one and attempted to use it. But I got an error message saying "You are unable to use this item at this time." I kinda figured it was because I needed to have finished all the mount speed increases for the first star, so I waited and focused on my crafters and gatherers while getting allied seals. As soon as I hit about 1000 seals I decided to buy a few more of the maps (calculated I needed about 4500 total for all). However, as soon as I had one crafter or gatherer at level 51, the maps disappeared, as much as the same as they did for you.
I found this post, read through it all, and definitely got the answer I wanted. :D Thank you. :) I'm sorry you had to go through all that you did, but thank you for your patience and figuring out the "bug" that caused this. I hope that all and others can learn from this post. :) Now to go back to the MSQs and get those completed so that I can get the rest of the maps and actually use them. :)
its an issue with the base game getting info without knowing what to do with it, arr is told theres new items in the vendor because everyone has to run on the same patch regardless of their expansions, SB tells the vendor theres a flag to hide those items until x quest has been beaten (no clue why but thats the only scenario that makes sense), the items themselves have a flag "must beat x quest first"
so not having sb or ultima beaten means you can see the item and buy it but cant use it because you dont meet the reqs, and buying sb implemented the "hide this item" flag
This thread need to be pinned as an example of how to not ask for help. OP had many people trying to help but I stead of listening and give more info like they asked he started yelling and inulting those that only wished to help.
Both the OP and people replying are fault. OP didnt state he check the other tab until his third post and took forever to answer a question. The people replying failed to read his posts with any sense of comprehension, they just took too accussing him of not seeing it or looking in the wrong spot.
I think I have to point this out if you're looking for the NPC who sells the riding maps.
ARR: Hunt Billmaster on each GC
HW: Ardolain in Forgotten Knight
SB: Leuekin in Rhagl's Reach or Estrild in Kugane
For Stormblood Areas, you have to talk to the Hunt NPC's in Rhalgs Reach or Kugane :D.
For Heavensward Areas, talk to the NPC's at Ishgard.
For ARR Areas, talk to the Hunt NPC at your Grand Company Area.
