15 combat jobs. 8 DoH. 3 DoL. 35 slots per Armoury Chest page.
I don't see why there should be any problem with having job-specific gear all around, space-wise. There's room. I don't really like it for the crafters/gatherers because it creates a big issue with melding everything (its 8 times the crafting sets to be melded, and 3 times the gathering sets to be melded) when all DoH need to be melded the same way, and all DoH need to be melded the same way.
DoM/DoW gear, I'd be all for nothing but job-specific gear sets. While yes, all tanks need to be melded the same way, not all healers want the same things, and the DPS casters all want their own stuff meld-wise.
26 gear slots taken by all 26 classes/jobs, 35 slots per page.
That's 9 slots extra (technically ten because you cannot keep all 26 in inventory, one has to be worn).
If that is not enough room, then people are not being smart about their inventory. No, it is NOT smart to hold on to every gear set level as you level MNK just so you have gear for your SAM. Your SAM will earn its own gear as you go. If you want to carry all that extra gear around, carry just enough for the SAM to grow into, and not stuff higher than that.
As for Glamour gear - once you have it Glamoured onto something else, store it on a retainer. Yes, you need to keep it. But no, you don't need to hold onto it to keep the look.
There's more than enough room. You just cannot be stupid about it.
This always bugged me, and leaves me thinking how well people understand the concept of opportunity cost. Right now it is 44 yellow scripts (max) per Twinsilk Sash of Casting, this takes 7 twinthread or 28 twincoons. now it is 1300 for tool, 400 for hat, 900 for body, 400 for hands, 350 for legs, 350 for feet, total 3700, you would need to craft 85 of these things for the set, 85 times 28= 2380, now if we assume an average of 5 items gained every 20 seconds with self gathering, that is 9520 seconds, that is about 2.5 hours, then to craft a thread it is about 15 seconds, since it seems quick synth would break a lot if you are in the process of gearing, so then it is 9 synths, because 7 for the threads, plus 2 more to make the cloths, to do that 85 times is 11475 seconds or 3 hours, so to gather the threads and craft them yourself (this neglects the Grade 1 Reisui of Intelligence stuff) you are looking at 5+ hours of work, in this time you could make something in 30 seconds or so and sell it for 100k+, it is far cheaper to meld the i290 stuff, even as "free" you are losing money from crafting something that you could be selling in the time it takes you 5+ hours to do. You did not do 3 sets for free, in 2 hours, it is not mathematically possible. It is not even possible do that with one set for "free" You make WAY more money with the i290 set and penta melding them. (Plus better stats)
The yellow script gear is not worth the effort, time, or money (if you buy all the materials) to make. SE really needs to really analyze what they implement.
Your wrong!!! Sorry, I'm just kidding. I completely agree. People moan about spending about 2-3m for a full ilvl 290 set then gather & waste that amount on mats just to e.g. craft 1 yellow crafter scrip top that can only be used by 1 of 8 crafters (Varies by server ofc). Gathering mats isn't free, it takes time & even then you could sell those mats you were going to use to get yellow crafter scrips on the market board & e.g. buy a full crafting set or mats to try & make your own which should be even cheaper.
On my server I could penta-meld a ilvl 290 set (grade 5s/4s) for about the same it'd cost to get 1 of the 8 yellow scrip crafting set.
You would think people that put in a large effort in crafting would and how much time some things can take to do. Regardless I am happy to see a thread basically saying these script gear is an issue with the amount of time it takes to get them. I really do not understand to no end how it seems battle stuff is handed to players while with crafting you have to do so much for it.
the alch potions is 3 per synth, so if you need 85 syths, you need do it 29 times, that means its 29 Diatomite (im assuming healing but it is is just for an idea, personally if i was doing the scripts id buy the points at this point. 58 Holy Basil, 58 Dandelion, and 28 Gyr Abanian Mineral Water, prob like 10-20? mins to gather all that and hoppin to each area, now the BIG thing I forgot, and I just remembered crafting 2 of them to sell. IF you are not geared yet trying to get these script items for gear, it is likely you are doing the makers mark rotation? if there is something quicker, it is still a good minute + to do them. For me it is 2 and 1/2 minutes per craft, and times that by 85 would yield 3.5 hours. There is no way in heck someone is doing yellow scripts for "free" in 2 hrs for 1 set. Gathering raw, you are looking at around 8 hrs to do the wvr set, to gather raw and craft the mats and finally the 85 synths. This is way too high of a cost, I like to know what SE was thinking with this system. I am not willing to put 14 million gil of work into one yellow script set, just getting the i290 and penta melding it, way more cost effective and time efficient.
I hate to join in this conversation without contributing to the comparison of stats, time, money... But you know what, the biggest problem with them yellow scrip gear, is that they are just not that pretty...
In contrast, the HW class-spec gear sets, despite the favor nightmares, were at least very pretty.
The only thing ive gotten from yellow scrips is the BSM tool!
makers mark rotation, if you are already geared (like having the i290 set to begin with) then you do not need yellow script gear do you? i was doing 19-22 step yellow script rotations for my tool with everything else i290, skipping the maker's mark need, (well 3 ironworks right, peta melded and would be pricey to replace since the only way to gain stats is penta melding them or using VI in the first slot, for the 2 I did replace, they where not bis and I did not like the melds, and I wanted more CP) this still takes about a minute and with needing 85 of them in the case of my weaver example, that is still 1 hour and a half, and that is the point of being geared where you do not need the set. I already pointed that out in the post you are quoting though:
The tools are fine since you need 1 tool per craft anyway, but that is assuming you are geared everywhere else first. The actual gear, having someone collect scripts for the gear, and be a true upgrade to their current gear, it is likely they need some time to craft for them. (makers mark rotations) and those hover around 2 minutes.
