so how you fell about stormblood so far

It makes me feel the same way I did the time a doctor in the ER involuntarily sent me to the psychiatric ward without telling me, instead of dealing with the bad reaction I was having to medication; where I was then trapped for an extended period of time without explanation just to eventually see a psychiatrist who said "loooooool we effed up" and dismissed with a $2,000 bill.

That is exactly how I feel about SB when I zone in to the Fringes and I applaud SE for nailing that experience.

I'm making significant progress on my crafters and gatherers, so whatever.

almost 70 and its pretty meh.
the new zones seems so pointless vast and dead with a few hp spongy mobs sprinkled here and there. gota laugh every time i see all these recycled mobs from arr like the stupid elemental sprites.
the msq was absolutely horrid for me i cant get into the story whatsoever (was better in hw). there is so many generic fetch quests + very low poor "cutscenes", you know the ones where characters just stand around talking inane rubbish and using generic emotes there is sooooo many of these myriads upon myriads its insane (the proper cutscenes with voice acting i liked).
dungeons are ok i guess just pull everything and aoe as awlays, zero chalenge even for the worst of players, nothing special save for one boss fight that was an interesting concept.
gear. seems like they recycled everything! ive yet to see a cool set personaly, maybe in the endgame?
id rate it 6/10 so far. hope the endgame and omega is better.

I'm pissed cause I can't pass the event. My friend Sony is having a blast tho. Seriously he isn't getting hit with ANY issues and is almost 70. I need his luck forreal.

Also, the job changes are... terrible, for the most part. I was really, really hopeful about them, but no. Just no. The only class that got less boring to play was Paladin, and I stopped maining Paladin in 3.1 because it was so boring to play >_>...

I'm gonna give it a month or two to check out the raid content but I'm not hopeful.

Job changes are terrible for those classes I play routinely, Solo Instance blockers and a release that was way too early judging by the Susano bug.

Right now, this is an expansion that's making me reconsider playing this game. We'll see once I can actually play it.

Once I can actually make into the game after those insane queues I'm really enjoying it.

Well seems like I missed a treat (sense sarcasm?) :D with this raubahn business. I am being provided with entertainment from streamers and forums alike.

Video footage on endless lines of eorzeans eargerly awaiting there bash at beast mode raubahn and many with no joy in sight :) Forums crowded with pages of the discontent and a calling for some form of compensation and rightly so.

On that note I was enjoying BRD in pvp hence why I hadn't even got to this MSQ block and I am pretty glad I did until I had to see to real life business and now I sit in a 3000 + queue yet again :D However I wish the crit buff applied to me instead of 7/8 members or 3/4 minus the BRD themselves who don't benefit from there own buffs? Wtf???

What's the point of spending however many resources they spent giving us the ability to swim so we can travel slower across barren maps and fish in a different way when it's taking 2 hours to log in and people are stuck spam clicking an NPC so they can get disconnected and go back to spending 2 hours to log in?

Beyond that: The new Primal is cool and I liked the first dungeon.

The good:
SAM, full aoe rotation, can mix aoe and single target, well done. RDM is interesting too..

The bad:
everything else, uninteresting story, bad class changes esp with whm and SCH. healer damage too low for solo content/ 60 dungeons. PvP is bad and confusing, I do not get a fairy no more? Need to select sprint as an ability where you can only have TWO!?!?!? the hell? then when I do hit the summon I get an invisible one? is the PvP changes bugged in general? nerfing overall DPS (from tanks dps and healers) at 60 because they are afraid of damage inflation for 70? how do we do 60 cap stuff then? Then the biggest blunder of the job changes is removing sustain, WHY!?!?!!?!?!?

I play only healers and tanks. I am actually very glad healer damage is "too low".

It is not too low to solo. I am managing that just fine. But I am glad it is too low to be considered useful in group content - so I can finally have people stop telling me to waste my GCDs making up for their shoddy DPS.

I just wish tank DPS was so low I could barely solo... so I'd be able to focus on tanking and not be asked to make up for the shoddy skills of the DPS in groups.

- so 60 AST, 54 WHM, 51 SCH. In ARR I was SCH. My plan is to use WHM and AST in Stormblood, but she's an alt and I didn't make it to 60 in time for early access on WHM, but I added a few levels during the Raubahn (savage) event while fuming about in PotD last night... I will likely finish up WHM and then split her time evenly between that and AST using PotD to keep from falling too low to keep up with MSQ level reqs.

EDIT: Split my post into two since the very different opinions might leave people wanting to hate on me for one and like me for the other... :)

I did PvP for the first time in this game during the 'Raubahn (savage) event' as I was unable to beat that boss... and I found this 4.0 PvP, at least in Frontlines, to actually be good and enjoyable.

You clearly do not play or touched AST and SCH, because it does not make sense. You really have no fairy? you really can't AoE cards? you can't hold cards? did they really make it like this or missing commands somewhere? Melee LB is still too op as well, nerf melee LB in pvp or bring the others up to par with it.

The system itself is not what is confusing, more like, did they really do this? kind of confused.

As far healer DPS, its too slow, I am doing MSQ on DPS and Healer (2 different chrs, very easy to compare) and it is very clear they where made for DPS, not for healer. Healer DPS is also on the low end for trying to get full credit on fates, I can't even play SCH on them because the DPS is too low, I have to SMN.

Great, just hit 70 got a dc and have a 3100 queue of people before me, then get a lobby connection error and start over at 3400. So much fun, thank you SE

Questing is always faster for DPS. I see no problem with that. Then again I leveled as a resto druid in classic WoW. I was playing MMOs for 3 years and even raiding before I knew you were supposed to be able to kill trash mobs faster than 1 per 3 minutes. And I pulled it off. This... this is easy mode compared to back then. We do enough to finish quests without lagging behind the other players by a notable amount. We don't need to do any more because our role is to heal, not to DPS.

Well the game is unplayable still at any 'normal' EU time because I am one of the chosen ones who lives on the Cerberus server.

I've managed to login for 20 minutes since the update. Which was past midnight UK time Thursday night. By which time I'd been drinking 4 hours and went to bed after checking my retainers and saying hello to the FC.

Well.. almost level 70. Queued for 50/60 roulette then black screen and DC. Queue time: 3,6. This is great:)

Positives:


- The two new jobs are pretty fun
- What I've seen of the story is good so far (haven't been able to get past Raubahn...)
- Map UI improvements are A+
- I like some of the class changes, such as BRD

Negatives:

- MSQ walling off literally everything in this expansion
- Many of the job gauges seem pretty pointless and actually limit the availability of information/functionality. For example, I can no longer click off a drawn card buff early if I don't want to use it. I also can no longer see what cards another AST has held/drawn/royal roaded. Some gauges seem like SE just wanted to make something pretty. I like the gauges that added some extra functionality to the class, but not the ones that are purely cosmetic.
- The two maps I've been able to see so far feel much less open than even HW maps. Not as bad as ARR, but still...
- Reusing old gear appearances in dungeons (from what I've heard) is very disappointing.
- Still no real improvements on inventory issues/glamour...
- Incredible amounts of instance server issues

There is a new spell to toss a card - that gets rid of a buff you don't want to use.

I agree that some job guages just seem over designed. I like most of them though - they do serve to lower down the number of different places my eyes have to scan. I moved the gauge to a good viewing spot to act as a 'central info spot' for tracking myself. It seems pointless when on WHM, but handy when on PLD, WAR, and AST. I have yet to try it elsewhere.

The instance server thing was bad... yeah... Anyone who was stuck on that Raubahn thing should get at least a "I beat Raubahn (savage) after 1000 wipes" title... :)

The inventory and armor crate increase is comically insufficient. 100 > 140? Really? If the increase had been 100 > 500 it might just about have been decent. And even then it probably needs to be more like 1000 slots than 140.

Redmage heals are more potent than the scholar. We have an 8 level difference, im wearing all 270 gear at level 60 they were lvl52 rdm.

how i feel? not to good. Spent over 20 hours in queue over 2 days. OH ALL THE FUN I HAD in town of salem. At least that game doesn't dc you from the server

LUCKILY i had no big Issues. I Cleared Raubahn and Pipin savage within one Hour and was able to reach lvl 70 after 2 Days. Also was very lucky with very sweet primal groups wich is one of the reasons i hurried up so much. I didnt skip MSQ cutszenes or anything but i stayed on a fast pace cause i know that most other hardcoreplayers do this too and thats the way you get queued with them for quick primal fights without much deaths. Susano was first try, Lakshmi 3rd try. Shinryu took 4 but still faster than "normal" Partys. The Story is Amazing.. even lost a Tear here and there.. thats what i love about this Game... the only Thing i still want today... is that Lyse/Y'shtola/Minfilia hug my Character... Yes... Simple wish i know. But hell My character saves the World like 25 times for them and he doesnt even get a hug.

MY ONLY Fu.. ups are those long Queues with 3k people on the login screen.

Day 1. Queue, got in, wow, this patch is amazing, like new zones, diving! what? Raubahn wont let you in? well. let's wait. ok let's do some fates, wow they made bonus for fates, what? still can't get in? ok let's do more fates, dc'd, 1 hour in queue, what? still no? people made their own queue? #lifeinqueue, 10 hours later still can't get throw Raubahn, well, it's first day, ingame queue became larger than login queue, k let's try tomorrow.
Day 2, 1 hour in queue, wow thanks Raubahn for letting me in, finally some exploring, wow I can swim now! WOW everything is amazing! got dc'd, 2 hours in queue, got in, more diving, dc'd 10m later, more queue, got in dungeon, got dc'd, well, let's try tomorrow
Day 3, 2 hours of waiting, 1 hour playing, got dc'd, another 2+ hours in queue, finally got in, got in dungeon, cleared half, got dc'd again, another 3k ppl in front of me. Currently upset by dropping from the game in the middle of a dungeon, cuz you can't go back immediately:(

I'm enjoying it a lot now that I can finally progress, though I do wish Blood Price would restore more mp.

Well the first zone really did not look that great (the half I could see) but I liked the second one. Kugane is my favorite city right now, I love the look and the music (but I love the Asian style in general). Ruby sea is okay but not that great, so overall one great city and fine zones that are still not that awe looking.

I am only at the Ruby sea with the story too but I kinda dont have the same hype as HW, so I really go slow there. The story itself frustrates me at some points (I say the part after Pipins solo instance) and other times I do like the kind of humor of it like in Kugane. I just look at all the stuff we have and for me I just cant see how we will win, so I am not really sure if I enjoy the conclusion of both countries. I do like that we have more dialog options but I still wish that they would stop putting Lyse on my side..I just dont like her that much since the start of this expansion. Hopefully it will get better lately.

Cant say much about the two new jobs. I got their quests, could not go on with samurai but still I was kinda put off by all the skills I suddenly had. Did not touch any gatherer or crafter.

The first dungeon was okay too but still not that hard. I went into this with my scholar even though I dont play it often, yet we had no wipe and only one person died once. DPSing felt quite better without the constant use of cleric stance yet at the same time I felt like I could do less with some skills missing. Also I ran out of MP easier.

The job changes: Not sure on this one. I did not look at the pvp changes yet so I cant say if I like it or not, and I did not take a look at many other jobs. But for summoner, I can already say that I miss sustain...(never understand why this was taken away from us..), it kinda feels easier right now because of the missing dots and stuff, and yet I cant say that I am quite that exited for higher levels. Not much good to come imo. I do find these bars bad..instead of just watching the monster and see everything there, I have to look at two extra bars on top of that. I do not really like them. In the end I am not so sure if making some jobs easier is really the way to go. Lower levels were already boring for me since you could not hit that much, yet those will become even more boring and I am not sure if someone will stick with that game if they are new to this.

Space is way to low and I am quite annoyed to already see so many re-used monsters and dungeon loot..(Are you telling me that I need that much of time and skill to beat a small mouse like monster? Something that was in the <10 zones in Eorzea?) Also I just see re-used gear everywhere. Be it with vendors or in dungeon. I know that you cant alway use only new sets, but why not get older sets and combine them together? I mean this is an expansion not a patch. Would be nice if at least the dungeons have unique new gear..because right now I see no reason at all to run the first dungeon again. I really hope that higher dungeons will have that or I see this as lazy..(well one kind of way to "help" us against inventory issues..we simply wont need to get the loot since its a recolor anyway..)

I would have found it nice if we got a little bit of a glamour dress as a welcome gift in Kugane. I see people running around in their traditional clothes and yet it seems that there is no way to get it. Unlike Ishgard which was a closed of city with no real trade with outsiders and because the clothes were more for higher ups I could see (but still feel sad) that we would not get it. But these clothes seems to be common..I also really hope that there is more asian themed glamour clothes..because my search on the market board only showed one kinda Chinese like dress, but I thought that it looked a little "cheap". So I wish we get such simple Kugane clothes somewhere soon. I would just love to wear it and go around the town, feeling like I am part of this.

So in the end I am not really amazed by the expansion. I fear that the zones will be barren soon and they dont feel alive anyway. Everything is okay right now but nothing more. In HW I could not stop doing the MSQ, here I am more like "well I think I will log of and watch some youtube." Its already lots of similar side quests and lots of walking and talking to NPCs in the main story.

After reading all these contributions it sounds like Stormblood isn't worth it. Swimming? I don't care. Re-used gear? Great. Job changes do not sound good.
Boring Zones? Boring MSQ?
I'm glad that I didn't order early access.

the good:
-MSQ is absolutely awesome! Much better than HW story.
-Jobs re-work. Currently main WAR, so far at lv65, but totally love this new playstyle, because now it's much easier. Totally happy with DRG, MCH, WHM, SCH changes too. Dunno about other jobs yet.
-New maps are beautiful and fun to explore. Swimming and diving are also a very good addition.
-Upgraded map and jobs UI.
-Increased inventory! \o/
-Kurogane - climbers heaven!
-Overall aesthetics and soundtrack are great.
-2 new jobs!
-PVP system rework is great. Now it's much more simplified and approachable to regular players.

the bad:
-Had this little problem with Raubhan blocking MSQ, but after that, all went smooth.

Overall I'd rate this expansion 10/10. Problems with instances and all other issues related to servers overload don't really count because it's only temporary and surely gonna get fixed soon enough.

Suddenly i don't mind that Blizzard's Overwatch is releasing the new map and balance changes on the 20th.

I can live with the new expansion tech problems, I just didn't like the changes to my summoner and bard, among other things. I unsubscribed.

Well its all subjective. You will have people on reddit that find it really great. So if you dont really know if you want it or not maybe watch some youtube videos on it and buy it if its cheaper. I am still only at the beginning of it so maybe my opinion will change a bit but I was never much of a fan of "war stories" so maybe thats also the reason why the story is not that great for me at the moment.

In a way the most important thing for an MMO is the endgame content at the end because story is a one time thing (still important for me) but if there is nothing interesting at the end then people will not stay for long.

I have plenty to say, but just one actual concern: It's somewhat odd that Rhalgr's Reach is the end-game hangout. With new players in and out, it would be unfair to discuss anything end-game there.

I love it so far! I wasn't one of those who spammed MSQ day 1 so I never encounted these issues with Rabauhn duty

I wouldn't know. A lot of PS4 users are stuck in re-downloading 22gb over and over. So majority of the whole early access, we've just been downloading this bullshit bug.
