Datamined DRK changes from final build

So...these changes are pretty much gutting the job.

They only get one exclusive physical mitigation cooldown (Shadow Wall) until 70, they removed Foresight which was actually used to pad their already lacking list of cooldowns leaving only Rampart (which is just their old Shadowskin with a worse animation), their damage and self-healing got nerfed, their Blood Gauge is the first thing they get after 60 and means pretty much nothing until 68 because to my knowledge it adds nothing except the use of Quietus and Bloodspiller, and using TBN is arguably a DPS loss.

I think we're in bad shape unless the new meta in raids doesn't require half as much mitigation CDs as we did previously (which I doubt because then all PLD's new toys wouldn't matter). If we want a chance at getting a reply, unfortunately we're going to have to get loud, obnoxious and meme worthy like the WHM crowd. Otherwise we may get put on the back burner like poor PLD did for an entire expansion. :(

DRK looks terrible in SB for multiple reasons and new stats or content isn't likely to change anything. We have enough information now that it isn't some big enigma.

its bad when a tank has more aoes than df cool downs , like this just doesnt make any sense at all to me the direction they are going in, it seems to me they are just making drk and whm the dungeon tank and healer only. Why does a tank have five aoes, but three df cool downs well four I guess if you count the blackestknight or whatever u call it

Did it even cross anyone's mind that the Soul Eater change from 100 to 10 is just one less 0 and that it might be a typo? I mean, it doesnt make any sense at all, then again what does when we look to DRK changes.. :thinking:

The Blood Price change and bonus Syphon MP-restore in Grit, first hotfix adjustment of SB?

Hopefully SEater@10% is a tooltip typo.

Because really, there is no point in it existing if otherwise. But its a believable nerf seeing how much they are trying to strip WAR/DRK of health restores. Devs took offense to the community going 'meh' over Clemency in 3.0, so no healz for you now!

Hopefully DRK gets tinkered with, and more than just halfhearted potency adjustments. Some nuance please (and like.. change Delirium)

I think it's time we got a PTR. They expect us tanks to stay tanks, and yet none of this crap was what we asked for. Everything about DRK seems tacked on now.
I can almost garuntee you yoshi-p doesn't care about these threads, because he's waiting for world first clears. If people run PLD/PLD we'll get buffed.

Souleater is either a typo or a dumb change. However, I can't agree that there's some crusade against self healing. Warrior still has Equilibrium intact except for the weaker Berserk. It (appears to? this might be old) still have Storm's Path healing. It still has Inner Beast healing. It still has Thrill of Battle.
Bloodbath going away is honestly because it was a bad skill. It's trash in real content and decent in stuff that is so trivial you can pull 30 monsters and AOE them down (or in old content you're unsyncing). They had to remove some skills from everyone, and warrior had very few abilities that could even be considered mediocre, so Bloodbath didn't make the cut.

WAR's IB healing was nerfed for this patch, though the overall potency of the skill was buffed. I'm not sure if SP was nerfed or not.

FAIK both IB and Path are partial now, though I don't know at what %.

Also where's the mention of Abyssal Drain.

It's possibly not a 100% health-tap anymore either, according to some that I've read. Same as IB and Path, it is described as a 'partial' restore now.

Itss offical DRKs got a nerf for no reason so ever. We got a shield tho we can moonlight as scholars on the side guys.

cant spam it with BP outside of Grit anymore since BP can only be used in grit....

So what's the point in having Darkside as a buff if it costs no mana? Why not just bake the extra damage into the class? I liked learning DRK because of learning how to maintain my MP, and it was really rewarding when id run through a dungeon never taking off Darkside. Obviously now there is no reason not to use darkside, so it seems trivial to me to even have it when they could just make it a part of the class without it being a buff.

I just hope I won't be kicked from ex primal fights.

So not only does DRK have no identity they also neutered anything good about the class completely.

Disables outside MP regen. They could just make it a trait (MP regen stops in battle, outside sources don't work, dmg increased by 15%) but you wouldn't be able to toggle that off for cases like A12S where there's no enemies on the battlefield for a full 45s but you're still in combat.

It was always a shitty hybrid but now it is no longer fluid, looks like a bunch of unfun and really wants to accentuate how much of a shitty hybrid it is.

A 15% Magic CD (30% if we spend MP)
A 30% CD
A 20% shield that costs mp.
The blind on DP *maybe* but DP is getting hammered by it's doubled MP cost.

I'm frankly expecting buffs in 4.1 at this point. I'm literally having 2.0 warrior flashbacks.

Oh and the job guides are up; they also nerfed healing on Abyssal Drain too.

These changes are AWFUL, exactly what I was afraid of when I pre-ordered. All my worst fears coming true plus stuff I could not even imagine.

No more massive pull with DA-DD then DA-AD sustain. No more reprisal or scourge. I don't even.......I guess I will just play NIN and SAM now.

you can still do those types of pulls, but with grit on only. even then with unleash losing half potency, and AD weakened returns, the speed runs are gonna slow down somewhat. scourge, for better or worse was dropped like fracture, or phlrb on drg. I guess no more dots except pld as well. Thematically though, DRK seems to have lost a lot of its lustre, I'm just confused how they could make pld work out or get rdm pretty close to more than what I expected it to be, and well...I guess the OT is just supposed to deal dmg now, sadlt rhat spots been taken for a while now

the skill i will miss the most is Foresight. you can say what you want about this skill, but Shadow Skin and Foresight were the backbone of the defensive kit in dungeon runs.

m not very happy about it, the entire parry proc mechanic is over with due to the loss of skills relying on it, so they give DD more parry but only 10 percent more for that much mp cost. Its ludicrous, I mean at least now that casters can give mp out, that darkside still makes drk the only tank /job that cant recieve party aid for resources still. But we get to do 3x more soul eaters because its the only other combo, and the only mp regaining combo we got now....giving reprisal to the other tanks wasnt what we meant when we wanted a fix

I'll probably roll PLD as my tank, after I get my casters up. Its just a shame that my favorite classic job has become the FF4 versuion, where PLD is superior in every way and an upgrade to it

This. I was genuinely shocked at the AD nerf. My biggest problem with some of these changes are that they're just trying to pigeonhole us into playing the way they want us to play. Which overall leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

yes. but it will only be usefull for tankbusters. it's use for dungeon trash pulls is little. and it's a lvl 70 skill, wich means DRK is lacking mitigation in older content since they removed foresight and 20 seconds reprisal uptime. we have 2 cds who actually reduce (all kinds of) damage, one of them with a very long cooldown. and we have the cooldown for magic damage, wich is good, but niche. and the new reprisal with 5 seconds wich will only be usefull for tank/raidbusters. and that's literally the whole defensive kit until lvl 70.

the nerf do our self healing is really unexpected. if 10% on souleater is true, there is basically no self healing at all. pld on the other hand has so much self heal. War's is nerfed but still has access to something.

I guess that want us to remain in tank stance aswell, looking at enhanced mp for syphon strike while in grit.

I was main PLD for 2.X, and switch to DRK for 3.X
I'm just gonna drop DRK and play RDM.
I'll continue my PLD later if nothing changes until then because I actually like to tank. But I feel I should do something to show SE how frustrated I am right now. And not playing tank for a while seems to be the best way.

Balance the jobs my butt yoshi-p why are all this skills nerf in the first place?! 10% on souleater you might as well remove that weaponskill too. #deleteDRK/WAR

You'll be darn sure we will be having ALL kinds of questions come next Q&A. Lol

It can be as low as 10%, but it appears to be random. SEater & Abyssal Drain seem to drain a random amount. I've absorbed 100% and 10% and every number in between on a striking dummy. Seems they just made it random ?

If you're attacking a target dummy keep in mind that any damage you do over its remaining HP isn't counted. In other words, if it has 300 HP but you hit it for 1000 you'll see the 1k hit but only do 300 damage, which is also what you'll drain.

In between disconnects/crashes and waiting through the queues, I hit the striking dummy at my house a few times and both DA AD and Grit-Souleater seemed to be doing 100% life steal, just like before.

In addition, doing Syphon Strike under Grit gives you back double the MP - that is, it gives you enough for a full Dark Arts in one hit.

(On the other hand, Shadowskin's animation getting downgraded to Rampart's turns the stomach just a little bit. Tear it down, revert the changes, un-release Stormblood Yoshi, etc.)
