I was changing anyway, even though Ninja got some pretty good buffs. Samurai is all I've wanted from the beginning.

I tend to play a bit of everything. Usually main heal.
Honestly I don't care if the job is top tier.... I play what I enjoy, end of story.
Been WHM since the start of ARR and even for a bit back in 1.0. But until I see some confirmation of positive changes coming to the WHM kit, I will be playing something else for the majority of SB. I've got PLD at 51 and AST at 49, so I will be getting those up to speed quickly as I do want to play PLD in SB, maybe even full time. I had a DRG back in ARR, but not really interested to play that right now. I am totally going to level RDM though, looks like an absolute blast!
Its still too early to take any of the tooltips at face value, i would enjoy putting the preliminaries next to the final tooltips and see how accurate or not they where.
That being said i dont like the look of my 3 year long main bard run and think i'm going for my war or whm as main in stormblood
Whm will always be my main, even if I end up being the last of my kind. Not to say I wont play other classes, but it will always be my go to. So dps rejoice. There is one healer here speeding up your wait times.
Im going Ast, I intended to anyway with HW, but they were to weak to switch from WHM at launch and I never really revisited it after leveling it to 60, even after the buffs. Ive tried it again recently and really digging it.
Love how much more pet focused Summoner has become so I will be sticking with it for the time being.
Nope, my main will always be PLD, tho will probably play as DRK and WAR sometimes too.
I will be switching from BRD main to SAM main, not because of any nerf or buff, but because I was a SAM main from FFXI and couldn't wait for this job to come out. That being said, I will still level all jobs to 70.
Forever Machinist unless they release a Gunblade DPS Job in the future.
I'll try the new jobs out eventually, but I'm in no rush. Just gonna wait for the "nerfed" jobs to be buffed and watch as all the sheeple who like playing the flavor of the month come crawling back after all their doom and gloom talk and be secure in the knowledge that they're all shallow bandwagoners.
Same plan as when I started three months ago - max WAR, then PLD, then DRK, then figure everything else out, probably start on healers, and I might start with WHM just because.
None of the gloom/doom/FotM stuff bothers me at all.
I'm wouldn't mind playing SAM or RDM but it feels terrible playing over saturated class. Probably stick with my MCH or MNK.
I'm dropping my WHM. No point if I cant play it serious content if I keep getting ignored due to the fact that I'm not an AST.
Bard has been the only job I really played since the beginning. I would play a little machinist from time to time, but I would always get bored of it eventually. Bard always felt more engaging to me.
What I like about bard now is the high apm and always having to make quick decisions. I actually like the randomness. It can be frustrating some times, but extremely rewarding at the same time. It's a simple class on the surface, but possibly one of the most complex the deeper you go.
Despite all the new changes in Stormblood, the new bard seems pretty simple and slow-paced. Out of the 3 new songs, only Wanderer's Minuet seems good, Mage's Ballad is just okay, and Army's Paeon just seems bad. It seems like Square intended to sacrifice dps for a bit more utility.
No more Bloodletter procs except under Mage's Ballad really kills it for me. With less ogcds to weave, what am I going to be doing in between each gcd? Run around like a headless chicken? Aoe outside of Mage's Ballad is probably going to be boring as hell.
I'm still going to level Bard to 70 to see how it is. If I don't like it, I'm probably going play machinist or red mage and hope they improve Bard in upcoming patches.
I've been WHM main ever since ARR closed beta, though I got all 3 healers at lvl 60 right now.
I'll most likely take all 3 healers to 70 in stormblood too so I can evaluate them all myself, but given the information we have right now I'll most likely be AST main in stormblood :/
Things may look grim for WHM currently, but I'm still optimistically hopeful that it wont be as bad as it currently seem when stormblood actually launches.
Even if it is bad on launch, it may get better in 4.1 so I'm not gonna ditch it completely.
I really dislike the WHM changes, like really really dislike them, but... I hate the themes and aesthetics of AST and SCH more than I hate the SB WHM changes, so I'm sticking with it.
I'm so excited to be able to summon Bahamut-egi and fail DPS checks. ^ 3 ^
I change mains every expac it seems. PLD for ARR. DRG for HW. NIN for SB.
outside totally disliking the bard changes , not switching main , however gonna try rdm and sam for sure , and probably level my drk (albeit pld look more fun now) for tanking , and Sch (or Ast) for healing , Smn was my alt in 2.0 , Sch was in 3.0 now in 4.0 ....probaly pld/drk or sch/ast
I'm pretty sure the secondary stats will help with the nerfs that came to the classes. I'm still really sad for losing the DoT on Dark Knight though.
Still playing Dark Knight/Samurai/X healer though instead of Dark/Ninja/X Healer. I want something slower instead of a fast class like Ninja this time around, so that should help a little bit.
I am disappointed from what I've heard about white mage changes, but I have some hope they'll fix some things before launch. I plan to level it first and depending on it's state either raid with it, or level my astro and raid on astro.
Changing from mains from SCH to RDM. It would be a more lateral move if this was FFXI but I digress. I've been waiting for RDM for eons (still waiting on DNC >_>). If they had RDM AND DNC I'd probably be dividing by 0 on which one to level first/main. I normally try to have somewhat of a "main" for each role.
Casters: I already said RDM will be my first job to level/hopefully main, SMN and BLM both look interesting but i'll probably save them for later.
Healers: AST looks like it's going to be FUN, SCH more of status quo but will level it for familiarity, WHM.... I'll give it a whirl at some point but unless they change its new mechanics it'll probably be the last job I level this expansion (as literally every other job seems more interesting so far)
Tanks: I'll eventually try somewhere down the line, WAR will definitely be first for tanks though, PLD and DRK will be a tossup as I hold the same amount of interest for both of them.
Melee: MNK/NIN both look GREAT but I'll probably lean to MNK first, DRG meh from what I've seen doesn't seem all that different from now (and I'm not a huge fan of it right noweither), as far as SAM I'll hold judgment until I play it (from the early looks of it and the tooltips I'm incredibly scared that it'll be boring, or at least less interesting than the other melee).
Ranged: BRD looks AMAZING, MCH seems like it'll be interesting to at least try out.
Don't like the MNK changes. Will most likely go SAM or NIN. Ninja changes and additions are looking really good imo.
Well, I originally said I would not be changing from DRK and would still tank.
After seeing the major buff to PLD and the gigantic nerf to DRK, I'll likely stop tanking until SE can get their act together. Hello RDM!
I wonder what will happen if the tank population crashes because all the WAR and DRK are like "Nah son" and switch to a DPS class.
In fact I hope this happens so Squenix will take tank balance more seriously and stop buffing us into orbit and nerfing us to the center of the Earth every expac. It's aggravating. Tanks get so little respect in this game.
I been playing PLD / WHM / SMN because they are simple to play and SMN has been dominating normal dungeon AOE dmg.
i will prob continue to play PLD and WHM regardless of the out cries about WHM and how PLD is the weakest among tanks.
DPS wise.. I would like to stick with SAM if SAM can produce proper AOE dmg
Mine's a bit of a twist. Based on class level alone, DRG is my "main" since I got it to 60. But my favorite class was (is?) the Bard. HW killed it for me tho, so it didn't get past 53. with the changes to bard returning it to a playstyle I enjoy, It may be my main again (if it ever wasn't my main, not sure how to classify it).
But on the flip side, with the elimination of cast times on the machinist + the whole burn mechanic is making MCH look very interesting. I was attracted to it when they were talking about HW back in the day, but it fell by the wayside for similar reasons to the bard (cast bars kill my enjoyment). So even though the bard was my main for similar reasons, the MCH may trump it now. Who knows? Gaaa, too many classes to enjoy!.
I'll probably end up playing them all, Like I usually do. Alt-er for life.
Swapping DRK to PLD, keeping AST, probably swapping MNK to SAM or NIN too.
Don't really care what is considered "good" what i play is based around how fun i find it and the aesthetics of the job. Given all the changes to how most jobs play i will spend my time in the beginning finding the feel of the jobs then start playing what i am vibing with .
I will likely despise my primary jobs of each role now, so, yes. Monk, Bard, Dark Knight, and White Mage are dead to me. I'll probably swap to DRG/SAM, RDM, Paladin, and Astrologian in their places, even though the first is worse off gameplay-wise and the latter rather meh in its additions, imo.
I don't think you read all the changes then.
PLD had it's potency boosted so high that it is now equal or higher than both WAR and DRK.
PLD also has the best mitigation.
It also has significant AoE.
PLD is now better than both WAR and DRK in nearly every way possible and is equal to them in the very few that they aren't flat out better.
Again, aside from aesthetics, there is no reason to play any other tank but PLD now. Go to the Tank roles board and you can see the details as to why.
Just pointing out that allot of people do play for asthetics.
And no one's played the new classes yet.
And the Dev's can adjust as needs permit (as they did in HW).
Overall, just like with every MMO expansion I've lived through, I tend to take all predictions with a grain of salt until the dust settles. if there is such a great disparity, I'm sure the peeps that this stuff matters to will make sure SQ knows.
And just as many don't.
You don't need to play the new classes to do the math. And it's no longer prediction, they have given us the official changes.
The queue times are going to be a far bigger problem than people anticipated. They were just considering how RDM and SAM might draw tanks away... but now that WARs and DRKs have been insulted so badly, you'll see even less tanks... meaning much longer queues.
I love Drks aesthetics. What I dont love is feeling useless in 8 man content, the only content thats decently challenging, because a 1 class can do everything the other 2 can and do it better with more added on.Intervention and Cover are better than TBN. Pld should do equal or more dps, as much as I hate theorycrafters these are the people who help everyone learn there rotation. They can block magic now and everyone has reprisal including dps. Aesthetics won't stop people from feeling gimped while we wait on buffs, which will mostly be potency buffs. Look how long it took Pld to be decent compared to the other 2. 3.2 Didnt see it picked off the floor in peoples eyes for awhile still.
This game revolves around the Holy Trinity, Tank, Healer and DPS.
We have no idea what the changes will be for Tanks or healers untill we get the game. Speculating will only stress you out for no good reason. If you picked up healer and/or tank to be a dps then you picked up the wrong class. i get you want to contribute some damage but at the end of the day you picked up the class for their main role not their sub-role.
With that said I can see far less huge mob pulls come SB. The fact that the damage out is reduced by x% for each mob on the floor is a bit extreme IMO. Plus nerfing bane was just a kick to the ego imho. WHM seems underwhelming atm... AST seems to be the go to healer atm but we will see come SB.
I think the changes to tanks are exactly what was needed. This whole dps metta thing was just carried on for way to long.... Tanks are meat shields... they are there to take the damage so the dps can safely do their thing.
However, WAR and DRK should have higher damage out numbers but nothing close to dps, which is what I think they are doing for SB. Not only for lore sake but for they simple fact that they are built to be a Off Tank or back up tank.
PLD on the other hand should be the MT period. Again not only for lore sake but their tool kit is simply built to be the main tank. Paladin is meant to take on heavy tank busters and mitigate damage to the party especially during high damage phases in raids...
