I'm not sure you've ever played FFXIV. Let alone paid attention to Y'shtolas storyline.....it's bleeding obvious that she doesn't die.

The question was, did the trailer spoil the fact that he is back, (as in without a doubt, 100%, like someone played the entire storyline, and came on the forums and told us everything) or is it revealing a possible comeback for the character? Its certainly possible that is is someone completely different. But because of what we know of the game, the immediate guess is Estinien, but without certainty.
My point was that is what trailers do. They make you guess, and they lead you down thought paths to make you excited but leaves out just enough so that you will have to actually watch or play in order to definitively find out what actually happened.
That was pretty good, actually.
I'm curious about the lalafell Thaumaturges we see casting that huge spell in the first half of the video. Is it possible it's the Coco brothers? That would be so cool.
I mean, if they are, then it means we're all in this together, not just the adventurers and some members of the Grand Companies, but possibly all the major forces of all 4 city states.
Are we gonna see K'lyhia again? Will the conjurers of Stillglade Fane show up to heal the hell out of everyone? Will Mylla show up to kick some butt and help us reclaim her homeland?
I'm so excited. :o
If you look closely, during the LB and actions part of the trailer, it seems that Alisaie also have blood coming from her mouth (as it also happened during 3.4 against the Warriors of Darkness).
Does it means she died (of course not), or will die ? Who knows :p The same goes for Y'shtola.
Also, definitely can't choose who's the cutest between Sophia and Lakshmi :3
Regardless of what "the scene" actually leads to, it was a terrible move on the side of the marketing team hands down. They should know how sensitive this community is by now. That'd be like the Empire Strikes back trailer showing Luke lose a hand XD.
I'm waiting for all the dead scions to come back as either Jedi ghosts, or as villians, then the cycle of tropes will be complete.
I watched the video thinking it was merely a promotional trailer and got spoiled... Please SE, at least put a spoiler alert at the beginning of your trailers ....
The THMs did look like the Coco brothers to me, and another trailer showed Oboro (NIN trainer) with the the WoL, Lyse and Alisaie. I'm hoping after the positive reception that Estenien received that the Job/class npcs are going to become more integrated into the general storyline where they would logically be involved since at the moment they seem to be off in a parallel universe. If Widargelt doesn't have at least a cameo in SB's MSQ I'm going to be disappointed.
I thought I couldn't get any more hyped about this release and then this trailer came out...
ysthola possibly dead, alisae seems to get injured at least. yet, they still keep alphinaud alive.
smh
I actually got teary eyed watching the trailer. It was so epic, emotional, powerful...I'M SOO F***ING READY! XD
IS SHE DIED?
I hope she is dead. Slowly starting to get a new roster of characters which I like. The scions had their time now we need new characters to take over.
Oh my....
Zenos in the french trailer, have the voice of a 16 year old kid...i hope it was not actually him talking and i'm wrong, totally game breaking. >.<
Is it the same in english trailer?
So....4:06
Ixion....
Y'sthola rekt confirmed.
They already killed off many great characters and one if not my favourite (Papalymo) i will be saddened if Y'shtola is killed .:(
And to those that want her dead, you all suck. lol
After watching that part in particular a few times I'd say that this is probably early on in the story giving us a reason to go to Doma and the other side. I'd assume we storm in to Ala mhigo ready to just win cause why not and everyone gets destroyed. If you watch WoL is just tossed aside like a rag doll as well. After that we likely go to Doma and the other nations to rally support for a second attempt.
Notice how British/American the theme for the Garlean Empire feels that is at the beginning of the trailer?
If you know the History of Japan then you know why they made Garlean Empire more related to England and the United States.
Meh kill her off. Sick of seeing a CNJ being the mascot for FFXIV in several games with combat. Make the cats players upset too for the lulz.
Dead, dead, dead, explosions, explosions, dead and explosions.
Yes this expansion is gonna be good.
Which is exactly why I personally don't think she dies there. Gravely injured for sure, but not dead. If they didn't have her new powers draining from her life force when she came back I would be more worried but the set-up from HW leans more towards Matoya eventually dieing "her way" while also saving Y'shtola from her sickness.
Really though all this worry over Y'shtola and a little for Alisaie but none for Krile? Of the three I'm actually more worried for her even if she didn't look to be in immediate danger. The way the trailer is cut actually makes me think of the three she will end up being the one to die.
Also on "spoilers": Does NOBODY remember the HW trailers and how people were complaining about them back then too? Yet outside of the end of ARR (which by that point most people should have known about.) nothing was truly spoilery about the expansion. So keep your heads on people.
Loved seeing some FF8 enemies
I understand where you are coming from there, but Krile atleast was around longer and had a bit more time for us to actually care in comparison. Plus it looks like whatever is happening with her won't happen till near the end of 4.0 and thus gives even more time for us to care.
I remember when patch 3.3 trailer video aymeric was stabbed with a knife and everyone lost their minds thinking he was going to die... spoilers.. he lived. Point is... until I see a body on the ground lifeless they are not dead.
If Y'shtola is killed by Zenos then no mercy any more towards the emperor. He is a dead man. The Calamity will look like a Sunday picnic compared to what I say we do to him.
Dunno, if anyone noticed or not but, is it just me or is (assuming this is her speaking) Yotsuyu's english VA kinda... ill fitting. It's just so high pitch, especially in comparison to the Japanese VA, who I found fit her character like a glove.
Edit: In the end this doesn't matter to me much as I play the game in Japanese anyway but, was just something curious I noticed.
Considering everything we know so far, it's not unlikely that Y'shtola dies for real. After all, even if she does miraculously end up surviving that, let's not forget that she is already slowly dying because of her constant use of Aether to see.
Addtionally, we've seen so much material of Lyse for this expansion, it's not inconcievable to believe that SE might be trying to replace Y'shtola with Lyse as FFXIV's poster child.
