Two days delays, the world is ending.

It's not like we set the timeline. No one but Square Enix is in charge of it. There's no reason for them to set deadlines they can't meet. Back when they decided to do all of this a year ago, they should have planned it so that they were working a patch ahead of themselves. So that way when they release 1.19, they're actually finishing 1.20.
That's why people get so annoyed at these constant delays. It's SE who decides when they should be released, and no one else. They should be able to meet their own deadlines. If they were smart, they'd have said 1.20 was coming at the end of December from the start. That way when they deliver it around the 16th, they look like heroes.
Good thing Square Enix consists of a bunch of super humans that are able to predict the future. Oh wait..
Just throwing it out there... Delaying a patch is MUCH better than releasing it with massive game breaking glitches. There were some good examples of this in FFXI. And some of the things in FFXI weren't even glitches, just untested in terms of balance... which ends up being patched with another maintenance a couple of days later, causing the servers to go down again unnecessarily after a patch was just released.
You all act like you'd rather have Square Enix keep us in the dark about release dates and everything of the sort. Guess what? WE WERE THERE. It was that way with FFXI for most of its life, and it was like that early in FFXIV's life. It was terrible. Now, at least we actually KNOW the patch will be out this month. We actually KNOW the progress on the path. Heck, we even got patch notes EARLY. That alone is a HUGE leap for Square Enix and their communication with the community.
Shit happens deal with it, they could tell me they was gonna delay it by 10 more day idc cause shit happens if you don't like it don't stay. Don't try to tell them how to plan a programing scheduled when your not one your self.
You cant reason with people with their head in the sand.
I am a Final fantasy fanboy as much as the next person still playing, but this forum is filled with people only willing to acknlowedge improvements.
Patch delays? Don't care.
Releasing a broken game? Didn't happen
SO we are... as it slowly slips away into the yesteryear and the game changes and because something more then it was when it started... though you probably wouldn't be happy until the switch everything over to the new servers and such will you? Until such time you will forever look at the game as what it was when it launch hmmm? I know what it launched as I know what it was like in alpha and I know what it was like in beta... I know what it is like now a good amount has change and a good amount will change as time marches on.
The problem for you me thinks is you dwell on the past a bit much... and you have a hard time seeing any good.
I am not saying it has all been flowers... and I am not saying it is super and wonderful now... I am saying things are looking up and they are doing what they can with what they have until the time they can switch everything over to the better... Can you look on the the future a bit with me Sephrick?

you realize your head is in the sand with the nonstop negativity right?
we arent saying anything is perfect or defending them in specific, we are just saying people like you are taking it too far whining about every little damn thing
does a 2 more day delay suck? yes it does
would i like the patch to be out tomorow as they originaly planned and told us a few weeks ago? yes
am i willing to put up with nonstop crashed cuz they found a huge bug? no im not, ill put up with the delay purely cuz of this
ive played other mmos that have released broken patches and it pissed me off to no end to try playing them when they did so(warcraft im looking at you!)
so if i have to sacrifice not doing something new for 2 more days, i will live
and so will you
Theres been countless replies where people are saying, "Its fine".
I count that as defending.
I'm just annoyed for 2 reasons.
1) Patch delay has a strong history in FFXIV
2) I'm not going to be able to play until 6 days after the release now and was keen to play 1.20 before then. Its just bad timing.
I never said the game didn't release broken and its not that I don't care that the patch has been delayed. I do care but I also care that the patch was delayed because they found a bad bug with a system they are trying to put in to give people the semi AH to try and make things a bit easier until they can move everything over to the new system.
This will take time and it is not going to be without pains... but it is one thing to remember the past least you make the same mistakes again and another thing entirely to dwell on the past so much that anything that happens in the future you can not see the light in front of your face.

I know countless people that are happy with the delays because they can pull lifeless-card on weekend and can still compete to be the "1st" of something.
1) patch delay has a strong history in most every mmo out there
2) so now your saying that your really justr raging cuz you personaly are affected by this and have to wait to play it now? makes sense
so because a personal issue of yours prevents you from playing it right away because of a new release date, you must rage and act like its the end of the world
i wish i could be the first, but the delay put it into my workweek so i cant get it now lol, but oh well, im not big into the "e-peen" of doing stuff first so i can live
cuz you know, what people you dont know in real life think about you even though they will never have an affect on your real life, really matters, they are important
So the problem is with buying items from the new market search? People have been complaining about a lack of content for months, so they delay their tiny stream of new content so they can add in a mild convenience for lazy players?
Releasing 1.20 without, and adding it to 1.20a would have saved them a whole lot of raging on the forums.
Funny, I dreamed about a delay this night. *yawns*
I'm a seer.
Yoshida, just delay it 4 more days so I can just play Star Wars: The Old Republic and not worry about juggling that and FFXIV.
Or maybe this "bug" is that the whole dev team got in early access to SW:TOR and are saying "screw it" too...
I find the heated debate amusing.
2 days big deal, you'll all live
I used to complain about patch delays like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee.
He said "at least" two days, right? I'll be surprised if it comes out this week.
Was there even a patch which wasn't delayed yet?
Version 2.0 will be released like mid 2013 this way.. I'm starting to think Square should start buying their engines. It would be faster and easier to make games for them probably.
I love how people say Suckrim and yet they play FF XIV lol...
I don't usually complain about patch delays, but I agree with why many are annoyed this time:
1. It's becoming par for the course. At this point, I can't recall the last patch we got that didn't stumble upon some kind of delay.
2. The clock is ticking down to Jan 6th, when we have to start paying subs. Like many others, the holidays are a busy time for me, and I'll barely have time to try out the patch. Every day lost gives those on the fence less time to decide if the game is worth paying for.
ive said this a thousand times over. they are too prideful in this field. why not just use the most uber game engines already in place?
itd cut down costs (whats going now is non arguable proof of that), cut down on time to develop for and itd be easier to port to other platforms /coughPS3cough
they havent put out very many games that have been able to match the success of many other games for many years now yet they think they can just whip up what they think is a god engine? SE is so absurd some times.
The development times are already realistic enough for a project of this scale. They aren't being slow from an industry standard standpoint.
ITT: Christmases ruined.
Aww, does the truth hurt? People hate on skyrim because the game is overrated to oblivion (zinggg).Quote:
I love how people hate on Skyrim just cuz they think it makes them sound cool.
I know right, because it has the best combat ever found in a single player RPG, epic and brilliant story, cutting edge animations, mind blowing voice work and dialogue, sprawling and vibrant gameworld (with epic and extremely memorable cities), and the fact that the sheer unpredictability from one opponent or task to the next gives it practically unlimited enjoyability.
It is the best video game ever made, how dare anyone suggest that they wouldn't rather be playing it right now!
The gameplay hasn't progressed anywhere since what, Morrowind? I don't think these kind of shortcomings should go unnoticed. it's still a vidya game damn it. Plus, there is a lot more (quality) competition in the market nowadays. open world game is nothing special.
The UI is horrible in every way imaginable. All it needs is innate lag to be on par with XIV. At least XIV is not overrated.
