[devs] Please Make Rescue Fair

Not from a griefing/trolling standpoint, I feel like this would just throw off my mojo in battles if I were to be pulled away from my position. It would likely make me mess up rotations or get me killed because I'd be like "WHY am I over here?! whats going on, oh god!?" *death*

That being said, I'll see how it goes. I usually don't get caught in avoidable aoes anyways and as a WHM I likely wont use it since I'm sure there are better role abilities that I'd want to equip.

Bigger issue to me is Healers using it in ignorance, which ends up messing up DPS trying to retain uptime. For example, a melee DPS that knows they have enough time to get in an extra 1-2 GCDs before moving out of the AOE now suddenly gets pulled away from the boss because of the Healer thinking they were helping out with Rescue when it wasn't needed.

It will be used to troll about as much as Shadewalker (I think that's the nin ability that puts the aggro the nin generates on someone else?) People blew that all out of proportion too and nothing happened.

I'm certain players will come up with tactics about where and when to use it, but messing with rotations is obvious. Too many DPS die due to refusing to abandon a rotation to avoid AoEs (I say this as a DRG, I'm not inocent.)

Of course it will mess up rotations when it's used.

But keep in mind this skill may be heavily used in future encounter design. There may be encounters where a tank will be required to be rescued out of an area. A boss may always reliably Heavy a tank, and then proceed to start a fatal attack that can only be escaped via Rescue.

Too many are concerned about how the use of the ability/action/skill will affect them [if they are the target] but this is the kind of ability that will likely be both: situational AND useful, so long as encounters expect you to have it.

I think those eggs have already hatched in internal dungeon design.

To be quite honest, if you take one look at the healer role abilities there's no way anyone is picking Rescue in the first place. I'll only ever have it on my hotbar to troll friends, otherwise it's simply not going to outclass any of the other abilities. I highly doubt people will make tactics for it, and even more so that people will expect healers to use it over something else.

Why are we worried about trolling with this spell? I am more worried about premade trolling. People failing the run on purpose and because so many are premade, you can't kick that tank MPK people or those dps that will not do anything like killing adds. Why do I need to take a penalty with a situation like this? I be more worried about addressing premade troling then this spell.

Because no one uses it to begin with, because you know using utility abilities is so complex.

The spell is pretty useless outside of specific tactics...if a healer uses it in DF? They're a bad.....simple. Regardless as to whether or not they save you from an AOE. They should have slotted something else. You are the bad for needing it. It's a niche skill, and I hope we see it utilized in raids in some capacity.

There are so many dungeons where Esuna is entirely redundant and useless. If I know where I am going, I would definitively go in with the right set of slotted abilities ready. If I don't know but it's early, I'll swap abilities around after protecting everyone. Already done this every time I end up in Sastasha and want cleric stance.

Will we even be able to swap abilities once in a dungeon?

I don't think it will be abused too much, mostly between friends to troll them once in a while. Other than that I think the utility can be quite handy in some situations.

I've played three other MMOs with this exact ability on a MUCH shorter cooldown and can count the number of times it was "abused" outside of giggles between pulls with my raid team on one hand.

City of Heroes had something even worse: you could teleport whole groups [of 8 players] to your position. Anyone could have this ability if they picked it, and I never saw anyone troll with it inside missions.

I saw some trolling in the early days of the game, on outdoor zones, but this because the game allowed you to fly and fight. People would fly high above enemies, and drop non-flying team mates over aggressive foes. This was only effective outdoors, and they ended up adding a request box (like you get for resurrecting.)

I just had a flashback of the FFXI days when BLM's could Teleport II a party member without their consent. However your behavior mattered more in that game so I didn't see it very often but a few times on accident.

Healer trolls become masters of timing....

learns to snatch gap-closers in mid-use. Using the gap-closer skill to put it on cooldown, buy auick enough to keep it from connecting. The rage amd salt goes over 9000.

Well we already can do that as it is right now, the only problem with that is, if you are doing it during a run, you can only swap once you're out of combat. Also it will put your hot bars on cool down, just like when you switch a job outside a city, sometimes it isn't bad in dungeons like DD, by the time you getting to the point were you need to use your abilities it's available, however I wouldn't recommend it if you're the tank lol. So I doubt that this option wouldn't be available in SB as well for switching the role abilities with the same requirements as currently. Just have to keep that in mind, I guess and make preparations, would be horrible if in the middle of pulls or boss fights, that you haven't engaged in just yet, you stood around for 4 minutes waiting for your hot bar to catch up.

But I could see that people asking more often for a counter if they are planning on swapping the abilities for specific bosses or certain mechanics, I also can see a lot of people saying during a fight, that they are sorry because they didn't know and didn't prepare. But again that would be just an issue at the beginning, later on down the road, people will know the dungeons/raids and can just do it on the fly. After all I don't think it's a bad choice, if that's the case, but it would be bad if you need to pick the role abilities before going in the dungeon, because of the situation I just explained, we would run in a lot of unnecessary drama since some people can't memorize fights.

I don't feel like it will be abused all too much its one of my favorite skills in Tera and I don't think I have seen it abused at all while I played. It might be overused for the first week or so when it comes out after that it's pretty situational.
