Could we have Paypal as a pay method instead of click and buy? DEVS please answer.

Greetings all,

I'd like to make a follow-up to my previous comment, as well as what was posted on the Lodetsone on 12/16 (Please note that we are working to implement additional payment options around the commencement of billing in early January).

As tonight will bring a close to the free trial period for FFXIV, I wanted to give you an update in regards to the new payment method implementation we have been working on. While the new payment method will not be implemented in time for the start of billing tonight, I want to let you know that we are nearing the end of the implementation phase and will be moving on to QA for it soon. While I can’t offer a concrete date for its release, I will keep you all as up to date as possible as we work on implementing this new payment method.

Thanks for the update, however, I have a feeling not being prepared in time may unfortunately back fire for SE :/ I know there are many who wish to p2p and can't. We see it all over the boards. Is there no way for SE to push back the payments until a proper payment system is in place?

I just don't think it's really fair to those that are staying to be locked out from playing due to management not being prepared in time.

If they Want to Pay, but can't right now, They will come back once they can.

Uh, not to make a fuss here but... Isn't Paypal already an available option via UltimatePay or whatever that was? I bought 15 bucks worth of crysta for now since I can't afford the 6 month plan at this time. But it was an easy transaction, and I don't mind logging in every so often to pay it. On the upside though at least I can make sure everything is correct on my account, or even change my password every so often as they recommend us to do. Anyway, nobody's really locked out at all from the game right now so I kinda fail to see it. And for those complaining about the prices, we've known for well over a year since release date what the monthly fee will be. That they even reduced the price until 2.0 is an even better deal too. So don't try acting like you didn't know all this time how much it would cost. They gave us a notice almost a month and a half in advance the cost, and when they'd start billing.

But on the news about Click&Buy, it's crap, no doubt about that. But I think for now we can wait until their new billing system is in place and just use alternate means. After all, they give you the option to specify how much crysta you wish to buy, and unless I'm missing something there, UltimatePay didn't even charge me a fee beyond the cost of my crysta either.

this is untrue. there were people stating click and buy was not accepting their payment and crysta is not available everywhere. some options such as buying ultimate pay cards that is available in the us is not in other countries.

these countries were asking for the options before they ever announced billing and were told to shut up and they would be fixed so they could play the game. flash forward to now and those people have not been taken care of and cannot play the game because no option is available to pay for it. it's absolutely pathetic handling on the behalf of se to sell a game to people in countries without having any possible way for them to pay to play it.

am I crazy or do all regions not have access to the 2nd UltimatePlay option? It clearly let's you use pay pal and was literally hassle free for me. *shrug* Also, I was able to buy exactly how many crysta I needed.

I know you're just the messenger, and I appreciate the heads up, but I get a feeling I'm already stating the obvious:

Not having the payment system for customers who want to give you money on time kinda is bad for your profit isn't it? Some people might just give up on the game entirely (if it's not implemented within a timely manner) and not start their subscription at all, despite the fact that the devs told them it would start by January 6, which means potential money lost for SE.

I was able to subscribe, but for the sake of the customers you're now obligated to, get those billing options implemented as quickly as possible.

all regions and all countries do not have the same options as each other. what the us is allowed is not what is allowed universally. each area has only a few select options.

for example i think it was switzerland that posted that they only have cnb as the option, but they do not work there because it won't take payments from banks or accounts set up in that country. this was asked about months ago and was told other ways would be released since they knew there was a problem, but that they would be ready before payment was started.

Okay, I wasn't aware of that regarding the Crysta. But for the rest of those complaining and can buy Crysta, use that instead of C&B then. Paypal is available for that. Still, throwing fits and tantrums won't get it fixed sooner than normal. It'll come in due time so just be patient. Yes I know it's easier to say than do and if I were in their shoes I probably would be pissed too. But as I said, it won't make them fix it any quicker.

Hi from MALAYSIA, and during my registration there is no "MALAYSIA" in the country list, but our "NEIGHBOR" the "BRUNEI" is available, we(Me and several Malaysian FFXIV Communities) choose "BRUNEI" as our country since there didn't listed our country. But then we only see "CLICK & BUY" as an option, even until "TODAY", "THIS SECOND". Only CLICK AND BUY, that one thing but, another thing is that "CLICK & BUY" "DO NOT ACCEPT OUR CREDIT CARDS BECAUSE IS NOT LISTED INT SE's COUNTRY LIST" so therefore "ME AND SEVERAL PEOPLE CANNOT PAY USING OUR CREDIT CARDS ISSUED BY OUR COUNTRY'S BANK"

no that's called if they can't possibly play the game then they won't be playing the game.

it's called bad business to sell people a game that you are going to charge for that you have no method put into place for them to pay with. if they said sorry we don't have it now, but you will be able to come back next week that's one thing. they said we don't have it now and we don't know when it will be put in, but hang in here with us with no character or game to play until that undetermined day in the future.

Dude, they have every right to be angry, and as I predicted, not having the service available on the 6th for people might possibly cost Square subscriptions.

Square-Enix set a specific date a few months ago stating that billing would start on a certain day. Many people were alreadyhaving issues with the billing system over a year ago when XIV first launched and failed. They did absolutely nothing to address the numerous issues with the billing system - the same measures have been put in place, and worst off, the same restrictions are still in place for players who WANT TO SUPPORT SQUARE.

It's completely unprofessional and poor business practice to set a date for billing and not have a billing system that works for a game that has an international community like ours. THAT is what they're angry about. It's not about not being able to play right now, it's the fact that something was promised and they failed to deliver the service in time, which has been the case for Square for their past two patches now. A lot of these issues were brought up ages ago and they only started taking time to address them 3 weeks ago. They should've been addressing the billing issues as soon as they announced that they were going to resume billing, or even worked on it earlier because they had over a year t orefine it.

Now you got players like the player you're replying to wanting to quit because a service that was promised to them wasn't delivered in time. It's not silly at all and it's not just an isolated incident either. A lot of international players are getting shafted because Square in its infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to use these merchants instead of allowing players to directly charge to their credit card.

So give them a break if they sound like they're whining. They want to support Square and they want to stick around - it's no longer the free period anymore. They have the right to be able to access the service at the promised time.

To me, this is all about those regions that simply do NOT have the diversity of payment options and are thus limited to a single option from SE that gets blocked by their bank. I'm going to be straight out honest, far more brutally than I usually am, because Bay's post was more insight-bearing than it looks like on the surface.

Bay, I do not intend for this to be directed at you personally, but feel free to collate and pass on as usual.

This new billing option was originally promised to be ready to go by at least 6 weeks ago (mid-northern autumn). Not only that, work on it was evidently not even commenced until the FFXI playerbase went on a rampage of sorts with the need to move away from PlayOnline's billing system and the sting was felt in the FFXI revenue. This was despite the problems and issues being known since September 2010 when FFXIV launched and the first complaints emerged.

To only now be approaching the quality testing stage further represents incredible naivity on part of Square Enix's accounts department - it tells me they have no proper appreciation for the structure and needs of international billing systems. This is further underscored by their promises to the FFXI community to "fix" the international transaction charges people have been finding on their bank statements - anyone who has done the smallest amount of international banking will be able to tell you such charges are completely unavoidable unless the receiving institution is in the same currency as the sending institution or if the bank itself absorbs the costs. So, barring countries where a billing option has resident operations (Click&Buy does not seem to operate in the USA), it means SE was either lying or just unknowledgeable. More likely the latter.

Meanwhile, this lack of appreciation for the inherent problems in billing have given rise to a lack of a sense of urgency (quality fundamental to any sales pitch). It has left you, Bay (and other reps), sufficiently dry of positive information to prevent us brooding with this problem, which in turn further enhances it across the wider community thanks to social media. If there is one thing I can recommend to you Bay, it is to make it clear to your superiors that matters of billing raised by players can NEVER be taken lightly.

I will return to play IF:
- That new billing method is implemented.
- That new billing method is not blocked by my bank.
- I do not lose interest in the interim.

My interest WILL diminish by the day, and significantly so when I lose access to the forums in a month's time if this is not resolved.

Ppl need to select the option "add crysta" and it will give them the option to use "ultimate pay" which allows payment directly to CC or to PayPal account (or pre-paid gaming card)

if ppl just select the option for "services" they wont see the "ultimate pay" option.

Which is amusing, because I've been locked out from the lodestone, but not the forums.

And if the forum's own information and structure is anything to go by, users who have had no character active for a month lose their access to forums then, not sooner.

Other country that doesnt have "added crysta" option only have Click n Buy as option. But as other poster said, it rejects CC from country that not listed by SE

the option to "add crysta" in in the menu on the left in your account front page, not in the list with the "click and buy" option.

It's not just Aion. All Australian players too, like me. And Swiss players. And about 80% of south-east Asia. The list goes on...

Reason: Crysta isn't LEGAL here because SE have not invested in setting it up.

It looks a lot like that, but without the big "add Square Enix Crysta" button at the top or the "Add Crysta" and "Crysta Passbook" options at the bottom.

"About Crysta" just tells you what it is, it's terms and conditions etc. It also tells you that it is unfortunately not available in all regions.

this is the problem with not having universal options. one group can see something on their account and assume it is the same for every other. the problem is it's not, but since it is on theirs it must be you that are wrong. it's bad that even with the ss to show there is no payment option you can use people still say it is you that are incorrect.
