no video :( seems so.
It is currently 7:46am PST/12:46am JST..there's a whole day for something to be posted.
Saturday in Japan, the video was supposed to come out on Friday. They rarely post anything this late, but sometimes they do.
The statement said a video was planned not that it will release on Friday, something must had came up. I guess we'll see a preview Monday.
And yet a lot of people seem to never think about what all is involved:
Video production in itself isn't easy to do if you want it to be presentable, let alone good, just look at a lot of amateur youtube video editing -- That's one part of it; Next you take the subject of what the video is on, which in this case is a video on content still in development and if for example the mob stops responding or does nothing...would that make an interesting video? Not really, but after all, it's SE..they're not bound by the rules of unforeseen circumstances when a lot of developers openly admit they run into problems as well and something may be delayed.
They already stated they're doing final work on the Moogle battle and things can always happen, especially in regards to programming. Make a simple Java app and you'll see just how easily something could go wrong even if it's something so tiny as a delay in a processing.
So is 1.2 coming out soon or not >:3
Like Rentahamster said, unfortunately, with the latest content balances going down to the wire, the video that was planned for release today wasn't able to make it out in time. We're very sorry for the delay, but we appreciate your patience as we continue working hard on 1.20!
I don't think any rational person here is losing any sleep over it. Besides, I think the original Ifrit battle video wasn't meant to showcase battling Ifrit so much as a proof of concept for Primal battles. If I hadn't already seen Ifrit in the game at other points, I might have thought that vid was spoiler-worthy. It's all good, community and dev teams.
Someone didn't pay attention in math. 1.20 = 1.2.
Who are the 5 people that actually "liked" the delay ?
To be honest I wasn't even expecting a battle video until they released that little weapons one. The routine seems to be the same as it was with Ifrit, which is nice. My only question is that since it is only a Youtube video could they not just throw up some of the content even though they may tweak it the actual battle some still? I assume it was a preview like the Ifrit one was. With cutscene's and things.
I liked that they give a response when a delay happens, because when a patch release day arrives with no patch and no notification, these forums would explode worse than the moogle weapons. Delays happen, and if FFXIV has ever learned any lesson, its not to release something they feel/know isn't ready...
Nope, because it's not "just a video" and SE isn't a indie developer that can throw up a video displaying unfinished/buggy content. Its easy (usually) to upload a video to youtube (cept when they're screwing things up), but it's not wise to do so if your content is buggy or not a good representation of the content -- They want to make sure it's polished before showcasing it which is what all commercial developers (worth their merit) will do.
The Ifrit one also showed off some of the battle and think of how if in that preview when Ifrit split into copies after his jump that was bugged and he was stalled in midair or everyone just fell to the ground dead from an invisible attack due to lack of animations? It wouldn't be good for SE lol.
Uh, that's why their preview videos have that "images still in development and subject to change" disclaimer on the bottom. If the state of the battle is still in THAT much of a mess that you can't even show a preview (which I don't think it is), then we have a problem.
They just didn't have enough man hours to do a mock battle, record, edit, and encode it in 4 different languages. They got better things to do right now.
Why would I want a video of a buggy fight? I want to see the fight at it's best. If they released the video and things looked wrong with it, then of course the same people complaining they didn't get a video will be complaining that the fight looks messy. Last thing SE wants to show you right now is poor quality content.
Here is the sad truth which most are aware of. No matter what SE does, no matter how efficient, no matter how their services are, no matter how satisfied they have made their customers, the FFXIV forums will always find a way to complain, gripe, and moan. It feels like a no-win situation for SE. I understand where complaints and criticism are needed, but some stuff I heard on here is so needless to say that I find 80% of the topics on here more comical than anything.
Apparently it is very wrong :p: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...t-achievement?
You could do that, but then you run into a problem when you hit the 100th patch lol.
I really wish they would just use - or /, something besides a period, it seems to confuse a lot of ppl.
Math: 1.2 = 1.20 = 1.200 etc.
Software: 1.2 = 1.02 = 1.002 etc.
I'm sorry, but as always your white knighting is just wrong from every point of view.
There's something called "editing" or even "post production", if you're doing a video and there's something you don't want to show you definitely can do it.
Also, mounting, exporting and uploading a video takes A LOT of time, by the time Yoshi announced the video they should have already been working on the recording, hence they should have known about the bug.
Also, the fight can't be that buggy 5 days before the release... if it's still planned for 14/12.
Also, if everytime they announce something it gets delayed something is just wrong, i'm actually wandering how will they manage to respect the long term schedule they set up for 2.0.
So, this is exactly the attitude of an "indie developer" except indie games are awesome.
