Had to cancel ceremony of eternal bond... Did I lose $20?

I agree with your proposed solution, but since we always have to imagine the resultant complaints from any changes I think that receiving the clothes at the time of the wedding itself will make it very hard to dye them decently in time, which is probably why they're given out earlier. I didn't decide what colour I wanted my suit until I'd played around with it for a while and then had to go and find the dye; this wouldn't have worked if I'd been on a tight deadline :(

It's sad that we always have to think about how a minority will abuse anything that's added to the game.

A simple solution could be a Cancel ceremony option at the NPC. So both player could still independentely use their "ceremony bracelet" again afterward if needed.

PS: As for exploiting the feature to spawn many "ceremony dressings". Who really cares if someone wants to fill his inventory with it. They can't be traded anyway.

WHO CARES? It's not your $20. I give approximately zero beans who chooses to actually go through with a Ceremony of Eternal Bonding once the money is safely in Square Enix's hand. I don't feel like it "cheapens" my own Eternal Bond in any way, since tons of people meet up all the time in their FC, on Reddit, or even in the megathread on this very FORUM to go through the bond ceremony when their relationship is tepid, if not purely platonic, if not outright SYMBIOTIC at best. It only "means" whatever it means to the individual, and trying to attach your own definition to it is supercilious.

It's insanely stupid that players can pay money for a service (BOTH players, mind you!), and one person arbitrarily canceling a previous arrangement means that NO ONE gets the goods. You can make all the analogies to real life weddings that you want, but the fact is that this is a video game and it's practically fraudulent that you can pay money for a service and wind up receiving absolutely nothing from that service in the end.

The clothes are untradeable but not the bracelet itsself. So you could totally get the clothes, then give the bracelet to someone else so they can spawn the clothes for themselves and so on.
I guess the solution to that would be to make the bracelet a binding item if you recieve it again after abandoning the quest, so you can't give it away anymore.

If you miss your ceremony time you can reschedule it. I missed mine due to connection issues and we just rescheduled for the following week. You don't lose your money on a missed ceremony.

Just goes to show, marriage is a waste of money. It's just a way for one person in the relationship to dominate the other, and reap more reward for calling it quits later on. Even before the marriage happened, it still cost you money. I would say you lucked out with that one, but I feel like that comment might make me public enemy number one.

Awww, I feel sorry for you if you feel this way. When you find the right person it is a wonderful thing. I am on my 3rd EB partner, first 2 fell apart within 6 months. My current partner is wonderful, we will have been together for 6 months this sunday. We have fun running things together and experiencing the new content together and respect each others boundries.

Just takes time and tiral and error to find the right fit for you, just like real life, some relationships don't last from one wanting more than the other and some are perfect matches. Takes time and effort to find that right one.

I think it's silly to be mad at a company for something that's clearly not your fault or there's. Of course it's not your fault your partner was a dud but also it's not the company's fault. They didn't deny you the service. Part of the service is completing the ritual with someone else. Perhaps they could offer some way you can pick a different partner to complete the ceremony, and maybe that could be the suggestion. Just like in a real wedding where things don't work out, you still have to pay for the services you were given regardless if you used them or if your partner walks out (catering, halls, bands etc). It's just the way of life and it sucks.

Should you get all the items? No. You aren't buying items. You're paying for a service that ultimately gives you items. You aren't entitled to items from a service you didn't go to. You should be entitled for your money back but not the items.

Game or no, the service is a real service paid with real money so it can be compared to real services and real services don't offer all gifts to people who don't even participate. How would you feel if all the people who completely ignore a seasonal event get mailed the goodies when it's over, while you actually went and did it?

You're entitled to a refund. Never agreed with no refund just stated their reason of not refunding.
