Bringing this back to show square enix that there are many who don't want everything to be available for all races.
And that instead they should see those of us who appreciate race specific fashion.
I know it takes time/planning but speaking for myself I feel this would be better than many of the generic glamours that you sometimes give us like that painter glamour we just got in 3.5.
More racial specifics? Yes
Don't like it make an alt :P
i would like to see more styles that are made for the races of the game, they don't have to be locked to that race i just want more fashion from my race kinda like how i as an Australian can go to India and wear Indian clothing or i could go to Japan and wear Japanese clothing it doesn't have to be racially exclusive but i think there needs to be more racially divers clothing options in the game other than the starting gear
In reply to the last four posts that all say the same thing by the same person, no I'd like to see them locked to the race.
What you're asking for is simply just....gear.
Unique Styles tied to specific in-game races is cool.
However unless these styles are made out of some region specific fabric the other races somehow cant access or let alone copy the look of, I just cant legitimize locked race styles.
So yeah...
Race locked clothing - meh
Race specific accessories/eyes/horns/skins/body types/voices/fighting styles -makes more sense to me
I be more happy if they quit reskinning new gear with old gear skins. I would love to see more Korean and Chinese outfits. I think it is wrong to have race and gender locked clothing. Most I could see for race clothing would be head gear and leg gear for races with none human ears, horns, and tails.
I would be okay with more race specific items, but why not allow a kind of reputation system to allow those who would like to have it be accessible as well? If you want the gear you need to work for it.
I'm a little torn on this. On one hand I want more RSE gear. On the other hand, I want access to some of the RSE gear of other races. I can admit to being a snobby brat when it comes to this, because I want access to everyone's stuff, but don't want everyone to have access to my stuff. And I'm supposed to be a fair person! :p
I am fair though, so I accept that if I want to wear those gorgeous Elezen female boots, then I either need to fantasia or start another character instead of pleading to SE for an unlock. It is my atonement for having such a selfish heart when it comes to glamour. If you think this walk is a simple one, then you have no idea how badly I want those boots!
Anywho, I truly think diversity can be a good thing. It would be unfair if SE released sets only for certain races. Releasing sets for all races is perfectly fine, and the 'I want it all' peeps will just simply have to suck it up.
They don't really make much sense in first place though.. being the fact that the races all live in mixed raced areas for many decades & we never/rarely see any of those races wearing this attire outside of players. If anything all Racial gear should be unlocked.
We should have more rpg things to do when it comes to race like special quests and some gear designed to fit your character perfectly but we're not an Auri Warrior or Elezen Bard; just some faceless distant WoL. I wish people would stop asking for homogenization u_u
I think they should do more stuff like the Hempen and starter sets. I mean, having lets saaaay ... 5 sets of gear that are MADE for your race with their style and body shape and culture in mind seems like something that wouldn't break the game. Hell, GW2 (a game with a much deeper glam system I might add) had this type of gear for races and often times they made for the best looks (the plant people just look sooo much better in their race gear ...0
Race-locked is about as retarded as gender-locked, imho.
It wouldn't break the game but it would have to be handled carefully which I would honestly be worried if SE would be able to do. I'm not opposed to more race locked armor sets so long as they're very unique armor or insanely special clothing to that race, not just fairly casual/general clothing arbitrarily locked to a specific race. It would suck to have another hempen set problem where simple casual clothes are race locked.
There's also the neat thing in GW2, with dungeon sets you have the option to get decent alternatives to those styles for all races. (Twilight arbor sylvari style armor for all for example). So that really helps balance things out aesthetically.
There is a reason for that though - most of the npcs in the game were originally also in version 1.0 where as the starting racial armour is only an ARR addition, and so most of those npcs either simply retained whatever outfit appearance they had in 1.0 in ARR, or were given an entirely unique outfit for them (which usually end up on the Mogstation for players anyway). Players didn't start with racial armour in 1.0, they instead started 1.0 with a specific non-racial outfit depending on what class they started as (GLAs started with a weathered tabard, trousers and shoes for instance), so this was a new addition (the 'hempen' gear is from 1.0, that was old 'smallclothes' that existed in a specific gear slot in 1.0 which was abolished for ARR so is basically an entirelly new set technically anyway.
The old FFXIII event however did clarify lore-wise at least that the starting armour is each race's 'traditional costume' (the miqo'te reporter stated she gave Lightning a "traditional outfit of the miqo'te" as a parting gift, which is the miqo'te starting armour players can gain for her in Lightning Returns ~ FFXIII, so that settles that particular point though. Starting armour is the traditional attire of each race, and because of that, I do not see SE changing this.
to be fair, we now know the original cultural attire for the two races of Au'Ra are very much taken from the Far Eastern real world equivalent of Japan and Middle East respectively. So i'm super curious as to why the male and female members of that race who become adventurers change their fashion so drastically. Yes I know the WoL isn't from any of the Azim Steppe tribes but those were the original Xae tribes homeland and culturally just because the parents of the WoL likely left those lands and culture behind them doesn't mean they'd start dressing in rags and call it "our races clothes."
But, again, that makes no sense. We play a adventurer, a traveler, am'I the only one on this planet wanting to buy and were traditionnal clothes when I travel ? To me it's a way to discover a culture, like the food I tend to eat (never gonna to a Mc do on Japan or Maroco or China for instance, I'd prefer local recipies)
It's only logic that our character, considering all the people he/she mates might like an outfit from anonther race and start wearing one and the same goes for the Hemphen sets.
Who knows ? the Ao'ra WoL might as well be from one of this tribes, wanting to see other places in the world or being a baby merchand or something like that
