I have to agree. It feel very hectic but at the same time feels dead.
There's no much to do over there than gathering or a couple of hunts... It feels irrelevant to the world.

it shows how many players cleared said patch

Why not unsub? I did and came back to the same thing. Criticism is a good thing I want this game to be better than the current games that have my attention and money, I probably wont sub again for the next patch and if 4.0 is the same formula, not gonna buy it.
More correctly, it shows how many characters have completed the main scenario quest to the point where they get a certain minion, which is a prerequisite to be found in the lodestone.
I'm personally accounted for 3 times in the 3.3 progression line and not once in the 3.4 progression line for that reason. I do advise people to follow the reddit - it's has some interesting background information and historical comparisons. But that's something to be discussed in a different thread.
As for Azys Lla, well...they did miss a lot of opportunities, but honestly? The zone itself is just background noise from airspace. Doesn't look as pretty as the background noise in Fore- or Hinterlands, admittedly, but uhm...I haven't seen much of it anyway since I just fly over everything once I have it unlocked and it might as well just be a loading screen background while I zoom in to wherever I need to go.
ITT: "The game is on a decline because a random map that you go to for the MSQ at one point and some quests is empty. Also no dragons."
But I mean like "Where are these dragons?". Some in instances? Because that's how XIV works. Did you also forget the numerous FATEs that have nothing but dragons? There's plenty in Churning Mists and Dravanian Forelands.
Azys Lla isn't exactly wasted either... you're acting as if nobody goes there but I see tons of people there from time to time, doing:
- Hunts
- Gathering
- Relic Quest
- Sidequests
- Triple Triad NPCs
Just because you personally do not see anyone in the immediate vicinity, does not mean the area goes unused. That's just being ignorant.
Is "Tons of people" about 1-20 people in the map at a time? Cause in an area that big, I wouldn't dare call it "tons of people".
I dare you to wander around every single map for at least one hour or two and tell me how many unique names of player-character you can find in each map.
what's missing from Azya Lla that's in Coerthas West besides maps?
ADAMANTITE ORE
...
...yeah, that's about it. That's the only reason to go to that zone.
And I can't say I mind, because it's like the ugly stepchild of FFXIV environments. There are some pretty parts, here and there, but it is generally not a very attractive place to go.
EDIT: It's really a shame they didn't do more with it, given the lore of the place. Unless I'm wrong, each island is supposedly a chunk of land from a different part of the globe, pulled in for its aetheric properties. They could have made it a DoL paradise (and also made it really pretty), but instead its ugly and we get Adamantite Ore.
EDIT 2:
Beautiful aesthetic, beautiful (albeit haunting) music, NPCs and locations with plots independent of the MSQ, plenty of un-timed DoL nodes, and a dungeon that doesn't make me want to drop group every time I get it.
This is one of the top things they can do with the zone, because honestly....leave the garleans idle in a giant Allagan playground, and they'll probably find some toys buried in the sand box. Unfortunately this probably won't result in more than a few MSQ scenes and the zone will be as dead as ever. Maybe the Gration could be removed from the map eventually, but I maybe recall there was a Sightseeing Vista on top of it? That usually indicates something is a permanent fixture in a zone. Lore wise it makes sense that Azys Lla is dead. It's been unavailable for so long that whoever created Aquapolis and all the buried maps apparently never had access to it. There aren't any common gathering points there yet, although with Diadem coming down for remodeling this would be a PERFECT chance to nudge people into the zone with sphalerite and royal mistletoe farming. 90% of the action in the zone right now is the Adamantite node popping every 36 minutes. The zone seriously needs some love. Maybe even additional aetherytes.
that's pure opinion.
you mean like Gerolt? sure i guess there can always be more.
okay this is 1.
i like Fractal Continuum a lot more than Dusk Vigil personally. also this is wholly irrelevant to the zone since you don't actually go there once you unlock them.
I think the simplest fix would be revamp of Fates. They are mainly used for leveling, in a game where leveling is fast and endgame is everything so we've quickly outgrown the open-world field zones apart from occasional errands.
Fates aren't inherently bad, it's just a map marker showing you where something is happening -- we just need more interesting, more challenging, more rewarding things to do when we get there.
Include special large-area ones that pop often, maybe have multiple objectives so players spread out to protect different structures and civilians, reward tomestones for people at level cap. It changes the formula so we aren't hitting the weekly currency cap from instances alone.
Just because MIN and BOT can't gather outside of timed nodes doesn't mean FSH can't...
Honestly, you could make a case most of the massive Heavensward zones were underutilized. It's among the reasons I remain a bit... nervous they want to continue making bigger zones for Stormblood. Hopefully it won't boil down to hunts and little else though.
I can pretty much say the same about your post, the one I quoted in my previous post.
You said that you see tons of people from time to time.
1-20 people in a huge zone is not "Tons of people". Your post is invalidated just as well if you say mine is.
Also, I have never once mentioned that any zone was "empty". I was only replying to your saying there have been "Tons of people".
basically its star cotton ball, wattle bark, luminium ore, red alumen and adamantite plus 5 bigfish and barreleye, which gives about 200 red scrips each. Then we have some Quests, Relic Fates, 3 unique TT Cards, Hunts. Theres the same amount of stuff to do as on every other map in the game
Adamantite Ores tho!
I like the zone though, fun fates and has some nice geography.. just me? no? kay..
Be nice to have a "release Tiamat" quest. She is just a nice ol'grandmother dragon at the moment. We should cheer her up more.
So, have you wandered through all your zones in Shiva and counted how many unique-named Player Characters you can find in each yet? I'm waiting to find out how many exactly is your "Tons of people".
I won't accept any response neglecting to cite an exact number for each individual zone.
Azys Lla is ugly :x
Like, even more ugly than most HW zones, which in general are less interesting and unique than the ARR zones that are just brimming with all kinds of landmarks and life.
Even during the MSQ, I never felt rewarded for making it there, dreaded the time I had to jump around using those Allagan teleporters and was glad I made it out.
When the HW relic quest came, I praised the Twelve I didn't have to do the crystal farming there since I already had the ARR relic for turn-in.
Now that the relic quest frequently sends us back there, I never move beyond the few steps it takes to get to Gerolt.
It's actually the only zone I have not done a single sidequest in, either.
At least to me, it doesn't feel like a waste that there isn't more to do there. I'm actually glad I don't have to look at how unpleasant it looks for longer periods of time.
remember when Wineport was a lagfest? Then it was North Shroud.....
Being a waste is kind of its thing, lore-wise. lol
Has anyone ever seen the FATE for this zone that's supposed to be super rare, and awesome? I've missed it once on my server but its been months and haven't even seen anyone mention it popping ever. Was this a one time thing orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr what? lol
The Ultima Fate

answer is here. I've only ever done this FATE once. I've never run into it again. You basically have to camp out in Azys Lla and hope you don't miss it as the special weather window is VERY short.
