Those are all the things you can't see unless you watched them through illegal means. Truth is ya, if you were getting the stream for the expansion news only, you wasted your money because word of mouth would pass fast for that. However, if you got the ticket for all the above, then you got your moneys worth.

I don't regret buying it, but I will probably avoid buying it next time. The concerts were neat. I feel they should have revealed a bit more. Most of the keynote was stuff we already knew. We know there will be new jobs, dungeons, raids and maybe a new race. Toss us one of those instead of saying "we need to save this for Tokyo".

The thing that bother me with a 30$ stream (price of course but if people wish to pay, so be it) is that you could actually watch it for free at the same time on some plateforms where people were broadcasting it live :/
So you pay for it, knowing that tones of people will get acces to it for free, not very "nice" to me from $E :/ -

It was a total joke. You didnt even have to wait 10 or however minutes to get the info people everywhere were restreaming the stream as it happened. The same will happen again during the next fests. Every time now i see someone with that 30$ minion or outfit i just chuckle...
Now the content as far as expansion info is concerned was a whole lot of NOTHING. Lets recap.
New jobs/zones/dungeons/primals/raid/alianceraid/diadem2.0/weaponskills/gear + some qol changes like battle system, ps3 support and inventory. Of course no footage of any of this save for some snippets of unfinished zones. What? All this is expected all this was guessed, we already get pretty much ALL of this during patches >_>. Not a single new feature anounced, bloody hells they wouldnt even do the people that paid the courtesy of showing of a job or a primal. ANYTHING substantial.
Well at least you got to bask in yoshidas heavenly presence <_< and help him fund his 3rd mansion. -

I liked it just as much as the 2014 Fanfest stream. The only part I missed was having a live chat like the one from Twitch because it made the whole thing more social even if a majority of the chat was nonsense. It's always more fun to share excitement with other people at the same time we're all experiencing it.

Kinda bugs me when people compare BlizzCon to this. It really isn't the same. BlizzCon has a TON of content because it has four IPs. FanFest is one IP and the content given to us was kinda the same given in Dev Letters that Blizzard does from time to time.
The concerts were the pulling attraction to this, honestly. About all i was interested in, and due to my busy weekend schedule, it felt pointless.
So in short: This was 30 bucks to get a minion, a suit, and access to two concerts of one hour each. For most, that's actually pretty decent, honestly. But to me, the information given wasn't any more than your typical live letter that we get for free or a dev letter that could have gone out for the panels. Wasn't worth it.
My argument is also this: It is entirely unfair to say that BlizzCon does this when BlizzCon has a LOT more to offer. -

I think the worth of this stream (or of anything really), is an extremely subjective concept. Some think the stream was worth it for the information that was posted on Reddit 5 minutes after it was streamed. Some people think the stream was worth it for the minion/outfit. Some think it was worth it for the panels and the concerts. And some think it was just a money-grabbing scheme made by a multi-billion dollar company. Worth is subjective.
I don't think it's right for those who don't think the stream was worth the $30 (or any amount of money at all) to put down those who paid for it, or laugh at them and say they were wasting their money supporting a company that doesn't need anymore income. Let's face it: even if a company is a multi-billion dollar company like SE or any other major/recognizable company in this world, regardless of that multi-billion dollar worth, they still have their own bills to pay just like the rest of us: from paying their employees to paying their electric bills. I don't know exactly how much organizing an event like this is, but I know there's no way it can be cheap. And like someone said before, if SE wasn't going to make a profit off of it, or find a way to make funds to pay for it/break even at the very, very least, they won't do it. No company will. That's just the way the world works.
In my own opinion, I did think the price tag was a little hefty, but considering what it would have cost me to actually fly out to Vegas and attend the fan fest in person, I would rather spend the $30 and enjoy the stream from the comfort of my own home (especially since I don't like flying D: ). Unfortunately, I had a family member that was going through some rough stuff, so I missed the stream because of that, but I don't regret purchasing it. Hopefully my $30 goes towards helping out this game just a little bit more. And if it just goes towards SE, well, it is what it is. Without SE, there wouldn't be a FFXIV anyways. -

The structure for Fanfest is also quite different. Technically in total Fanfest is 6 days in 3 regions. If they only did one event (it would probably be the tokyo one) the information would be much more frontloaded like at BlizzCon (which has been around for way longer, the first one was around 2005, almost 11 years ago), there would be barely any reason to hold information back if that was the case.
Fanfest being piecemeal also makes it more expensive (I would probably say $90 for all streams plus currency conversion so probably closer to 100$) but includes more regions. -

I would feel bad if I got to see all the important stuff (keynote, panels, concert) for free when people have to pay $135 USD + possible airfare and hotel. Yeah, they're there in person and get to experience everything and there's a bunch of other stuff stream viewers don't get but that's why the stream is a lot less than $135. That's just me though.

I bought it. Didn't feel it was a waste of money. Yeah, the stream service they used could be a lot better, and I missed being able to chat with other viewers in real time. But it terms of buying something that ended up being what I expected it to be, I can't really complain. People spend way more on stuff like Pay Per View, and you don't get nearly as much.

I'm really dismayed at the amount of people who who seem to think that because SE charges for a service/product sucessfully and makes a profit - that they are greedy.
Lets get something clear. Paying for your monthly sub covers the cost of maintaining active servers and giving you access to those servers to play a live game.
It does not mean you are entitled to anything else that SE does. Just because SE makes a profit it does not mean they have to start giving away things for free. They are not a charity.
This thread has done nothing but reveal how many people have no understanding of the world and feel overly entitled to things.
A for profit company does not owe you anything for free because you are poor or too cheap to pay up. -
