Are people taking this seriously for real? This thread isn't a troll? OP isn't just fucking with us?

Someone is literally crying about a joke and things that I've never seen happen in the 3 years I've played this game and mained DRG for more than half the patch cycles (I would honestly be impressed if someone managed to know exactly when I use jump to coordinate an AoE on top of me while i'm using it and I am unable to avoid it since the animation lock is literally a 1 second window and lower on spineshatter/DFD) . If anything, people love DRGs for litany and even more so brd/mch for disembowel. Quit making non issues so you can gain sympathy.

Also even though we know it as a joke quite a few people wouldn't play that job knowing that the community will continuously make jokes about them and sometimes it can make them feel quite uncomfortable to play that job. Now that SE has begun to jump on that train of making the lolDRG joke it doesn't really help with people picking that job.

I smile every time I see 'lol drg'. I even tell my FC, "running my derpgoon today :p" And when I or they make just the derpiest of the derps and laugh it off, it's the best stuff ever. Don't get me wrong, I don't play DRG to excuse bad play, but the stigma with the job makes it easier to laugh things off when mistakes happen, just so long as they don't keep happening.

I see no reason why to not be light-hearted about it, but it's also not a reason to bully those who play DRG, which is inexcusable and I believe goes against the ToS. So screenshot that crap. While I haven't seen it personally in the game, I've had a joke or two tossed my way while playing DRG. But even I think it's hilarious when I don't get a stun off in time, or execute a mistimed jump :p

I have been playing Dragoon for months now, and swapped between it and Monk when I first started. I've never once had people intentionally try to wipe me. As for jokes, I make the floor jokes myself. They're all silly fun.

Its just an in-joke within the community that bled in from FFXI where Dragoons were pretty terrible in their implementation, the fact that when ARR launched, things like their abysmal magic defence and the usual case of players being killed by using jump at bad times, I would say its hardly malicious, since most times, I see Dragoons be the ones to take the piss out of themselves. But there will obviously be players who actively grief others, best you can do is ignore/report and move on.

I play Dragoon every so often and any cases where I mess up can be laughed off as being a loldrg, as long as its all in good fun of course. Hell sometimes when I play it, I get through duties without dying once, what kind of scrub tier loldrg am I?

Geez, there is no need to Jump so quickly to conclusions, or to be so Elusive about a sense of humor. I hear some decent Blood work will yield some stem cells, they can be used to grow a funny bone.

These jokes can stay if the people making them aren't greifing. 'u' Sometimes people have to learn to laugh at themselves. 'u'

I've never seen it happen, nor has it happened to me.

If it does occur, then you have the tools required to handle it. Report, blacklist whatever, move on.

If someone is intentionally killing you, yeaa it's not fun. However, the DRG jokes will never end. It's part of playing the class at this point.

I honestly think some people here would not notice this kind of discrimination even if it hits them square in the face. And no, this thread is most definitely not a troll thread, I am very serious.

The problem is, that over the years I have played, I have noticed the situation get worse and I know my OH is not the only one thinking like this. A joke is fine but people need to keep their eyes open to notice when something stops being a joke.

DRG fulfills a very important role in our game community, and in any respectable static group.

I didn't read every post so I don't if anyone has brought this up... but Dragoon jokes have been around since the good old days of XI. Nearly 15 years... just don't think them jokes are going away anytime soon.

On that note though, I've never had someone try and kill me while on DRG or a joke turn into a not so funny joke anymore. If people are being that rude, maybe you should report them. Otherwise, take it with grain of salt. Like I said, don't see them jokes going away anytime soon. And imo, some of them are kinda funny, so I don't mind.

Sometimes it's just seeing the glass as half empty.

Confirmation bias, it's not getting worse, if anything DRG jokes have died down a lot lately. Yes, you did have two bad experiences with griefers, but you don't want to accept that these are isolated incidents and they are not the norm, there isn't some sort of campaign to harass every single dragoon, you simply met bad people.

Begun? SE has been on the lolDRG bandwagoon forever. I swear that SE themselves makes more lolDRG jokes than the entire fanbase combined. The lolDRG is part of FF Online culture, and has been so since back in XI and immortalized in 2.0-2,1 titan fights. Yes, sure some people might feel weird about it, and if someone does I never tell them infront of them, but most people enjoy them. Yes, even the DRGs themselves.

The only Dragoon I have ever made fun of has been my IRL friend who mains it. Even he makes fun of himself, usually because he died to something really dumb. Otherwise I have never made jokes at other people's expense simply because of their class.

This has happened to me I'm afraid. A friend (tank) and I (DRG) queued up in roulette and got Halatali (woots!). One of the other members made a pun during one of the bosses and said, "lol drg!", and my friend totally took it the wrong way, but he is also unfamiliar with the whole 'lol drg' and where it came from. So they get into this big 'ol argument, and the guy who made the joke initiated a vote kick, and I kicked my own friend on accident. So the other person said, "Why did you kick your own friend because I didn't vote to do it?" My response was, "lol drg!"

We all cracked up and finished the instance with three, and I tanked. I knew the guy was joking so it wasn't a big deal. We also got a new tank about 10 seconds before the we took out the final boss, and I'm sure he got the clear bonus. More luls ensued. I mean this was one of the craziest and funniest instances I've ever been in.

Every time I intend to add a lancer class, the jokes on dragoons scare and prohibit me. I doubt if dragoons really die that much, and at last give up the idea.
Thanks to all my teams in duty roulette, though some of the mates are not good at playing, none let dragoons die more than others. Neither come the jokes. And, LB of dragoon is really amazing. I enjoy watching when they use it, if they remember to use.

I use dragoon jokes as a way to tell them it's okay if they mess up.

Or I say they're tanking the floor for us if someone goes off on the DRG for dying.

DRG's aren't that bad, just watch out for blood for blood and animation lock with jump.

Other than that they do a ton of DPS.

I personally don't mind banter. I joke about myself heaps whenever I play Bard or Astro (Someone call for a useless healer? Here I am <3). People just need to be aware that there's a time and place for these things. Sometimes it's not going to be appropriate to joke about these things because some people might take it seriously or just not be in the mood for it.

It's not really that difficult to understand this and to have some empathy for the people you're playing with.

the banter bother you? turn it to your advantage, if people look down on you, show them how good you are by trying always to be the best! and like some have said, be the last to stay alive and such.... for make them say, ok this one is not a loldrg but a good dragoon!

The loldrg jokes have to stay alive because the dragoons themselves never do.

Actively trying to get your teammate killed isn't cool unless you're just playing around with a friend, but I play dragoon a lot and haven't seen that happen yet. If it did, that'd be a pretty clear case of harassment and worth a report.

As for the jokes, though, I kind of like them... If I screw up and get myself killed in an instance, I feel a bit awkward. But if I'm playing dragoon, I can say something cheesy like "don't worry guys, I'll protect us from this floor" or "I didn't choose the DRG life" and then usually someone laughs and I feel better. Can you do that on other classes? Nope! :P

As a DRG main I don't care about the jokes, heck I even make em myself!

Also, I often gets comms just because I DON'T die hehehe
