Yeah Im thinking that they may just give us sam and rdm, the first hybrid jobs, how they do the role switching, i dont know theres many suggestions to how they could or would in so many threads.

I think sam fits well as a tank or a dps, the arguments are strong on both ends. They could easilly flip between the two roles.
RDM, though alot want it as a tank, it might more easilly fit a dps with minor support and a healer with good dps I can see them being able to fkup between healer or dps however they do this. This would be a way to provide us 2 new jobs, but also a tank, 2 dps, and a healer all at the same time.

case in point imo it is so much easier to just swap str/vit and int/mnd than to create a stance with over a thousand adjustments to defense rating, triple hp pool to take a tankbuster, cut piety down add it to vit, swap int for str, etc.

If I were designing the class, this is how I would do it...

The current battle system would not allow for a "Jack of all trades." It needs to fit specifically into a single role, or else it will not be optimal in any raid composition. So I would focus it into the DPS role, but I would give it some healing and tanking support utility. It would take the place of the support role of Brd/Mch.

Instead of a melee caster, I would make it a melee and caster, but separately. And by that I mean, switching between the two. Currently we do not have any class in the game that can directly switch between two opposite play styles.

So I would design it like a Blm mixed with monk. I picture something similar to BLM's Umbral Ice and Astral Fire where it has unlimited resources. Only, this class would use both TP and MP. While you are in a "melee stance," you'd be using TP. Your weapon would a rapier, and you would have combos that would apply physical vulnerabilities. While in this stance, you would be regenerating MP and having the option to increase party Member's TP (Paeon, Goad, etc.). You'd have access to Tank utilities that increase defense on your tank or other melee in range.

Then you'd have a caster stance. I'd give it an ability such as Elusive Jump that would get you into this stance, immediately pulling you out of melee range. In this stance you'd be using MP while regenerating TP. You would have magic spells that apply magic vulnerabilities. You'd now also have access to Healing utilities. Maybe a Medica or Medica II type spell on a longer CD. Also Party Members MP regen (bishop autoturret, ballad). Finally give it a gap closer which puts you back into melee stance.

So that would be the basic premise of the job. The only difficult part would be the balancing between these two stances. You'd want them to be equal enough so that you could use either effectively, but different enough to allow you some customization on a per fight basis.

Thinking for instance, you know that a stack mechanic is incoming, you'd want to be in Caster stance regenerating TP beforehand. Then switch into melee stance to soak the damage. Or the opposite can be said when you know there is a "spread out" mechanic coming.

The customization I believe can lie in your party composition and the fight itself to help you determine which stance you would spend more time in. So I'd make it that your party would also benefit from the magic and physical buffs you apply to the boss. If there is a less intensive healing part of the fight where both healers can get some DPS in, it might be beneficial to be in Casting stance applying your magic vulns.

Finally, taking the role of Brd/Mch, your party members are running out of their resources would also determine which stance your in.

So this is my idea, and I think it could really work in the current meta of the game. I also think it could lead to some really cool playstyles and ideas for certain fights.

yeah i totally could see this if they make it pure dps support, and the gameplay would be just enough to keep it very interesting
