Heya! Thanks for the awesome tool. Got a low-priority request and a question.
Would it be possible to add in the reward-based chemestries (materia and such), and have the results display somehow which ones would be active?
Does the mission level actually effect anything?
I'll probably add these on the long term yes, but I'll have less time to work on this for a moment, and I'm still not satisfied with the script for the results, so I don't know when the reward chemistries will be added.
Some chemistries are triggered when at or above the mission level.
Hi Stoi,
are you interested in a mixed-integer-programming model to maximize the gathered xp in a week? I wrote one two or three weeks ago and it works good. Its result is an optimal scheduling plan for a whole week (training schedule for every day, mission schedule and which soldier to send to which mission). However i didn't consider chemistry etc.
I'll have less time to work on this now, and I'm still not satisfied with my script, so for now, I'm not gonna think too much about new features, I'll first try to fix what's bothering me when I can. But thanks for the proposal.
This is so useful, it made it much more manageable for my squad, and helping my wife with hers! I am so happy we have a helpful and talented community! Thank you for the time it took to make this and for sharing it with us :) 1st LT Ravencrest thanks you!
I'll drop this here because it'll probably answers 90% of the questions I'll receive in the next days.
If searching for the working combinations with up to 6 trainings crashes your browser or is too long in your opinion, use a lower value !
I allowed the search for up to 6 trainings because it can work, but that's definitely not going to work for everyone yet. Consider this as a beta feature. All the calculations are handled by the client (you), and when you speak about 700k operations or more, what your computer has inside matters a lot, as well as the browser used. I'll try to optimize this over the time, but this is a long process.
For information, on my computer, Windows 10 + Chrome, i7 4790k, for a squadron of 8 recruits.
0 to 3 trainings => almost instant
4 trainings => a bit more than 1 sec
5 trainings => 8 to 10 secs
6 trainings => 1 min to 1 min 20 secs
So if it's too long or if it crashes, stick with lower values, just like before, it should work like a charm.
Hello,
Well done on that tool, it look great and work quite fine so far :).
There is a little issue on Training part : Lvl 3 squad is 400 points, and each time I tain my squad, just after lvling up from Squad 2 to 3, the tool try to balance my stats. It should go up until it reach 400.
Thx a lot for your job.
Edit : Just made a test, when i set rank 3 and refresh the page, it work perfectly. It's just on the same session of seting up to lvl 3 and training that the issue is there.
I've noticed that with chemistries like 'When accompany someone of a different race...' and such don't work if you have even a single member who's of the same race/class as the person with the chemistry. This throws off the calculations and makes the script think you'll end up with a slightly higher value on things than you will with the make up.
You mean, it does not work on the app, or in game ?
If it's on the app, I'm performing some tests right now and it seem to work for me, or maybe I did not understand the issue ? Can you provide me an export code for a squadron giving wrong results, with an explanation of the expected results ? Thanks.
It works in the app, but not in the game. I have a Hyur Conjurer with 'When accompanying someone of a different race, tactical ability is increased by 10%.' This works fine and the results are good when there are no other Hyurs in the deployment squad. However, when I include my Hyur gladiator, the chemistry becomes inactive and I lose that 10% bonus in the game, but the app still is applying it as if it were active.
My squad's out right now, when they come back tomorrow I'll see if I can come up with an example for you.
Thanks for making the tool for the community, but I think it will be useful to add a "9th" slot for that new comer. that 9th person might just suddenly make 100% failed lv40 mission into 100% success.
Everyone has their own style, but here is just how I did it. I didn't say you or anyone else should do it too... (sorry for bad English if you decided to read...)
I actually modified someone's Google Sheet and made my own format. I added the "difference" portion after the total attributes, and later I found myself only look at the difference portion since it's easier to understand.
Here I used the final weekly mission as example, and all 8 of my members are lv50.
http://imgur.com/yv2E3WR.png
so from the chart I understand no matter what the total raw attribute will be -14 no matter what it won't be 100% success without bonus.
I put the difference into color coding. if the stat is over the requirement, it will be green highlighted. if it's negative, there is no high light but with green text (under -20) yellow text (between -21 to -40) red text (over -60)
=================================================================
Here is another example of my alt's lv40 mission:
http://imgur.com/1ixuCMi.png
Since it's lv40 mission, everything need to pass, so I just ignore all the negative total ones and only focus these positive total combo.
such as this one you can actually see there are some workable some won't. To my mind I can instantly tell: (number by row)as you see my judgement is not exactly equal to the gray highlighted text's direction... because some of them simply won't work...
- won't work, don't bother
- need 2 tact trainings ( -40, -40, +80) = ( +8, +15, +9)
- need one power tact training (+20, -40, +20) = (+14, +16, +4)
- won't work
- won't work
- actually will work, 2x mental + tact training (-80, +40, +40) = (+5, +6, +13)
=====================================================================
I have a special 9th slot for the pending applicant inside my desk... I used to keep them if it's the job I don't have... (but now I maxed everything, so I usually just kick them without summon in...)
http://imgur.com/l6AsA7G.png
I used to be want everything 100% success, so I use this spread sheet a lot, but now... I just whatever and gamble it... it's very useful for lv40 mission tho...
So in other words, the chemistry is : "When accompanying 3 recruits of a different race than mine" ?
I'll think about it. I have less time to work on this at the moment so I don't know when I'll look into this idea, but in the meantime you can use the different tabs to create different squadrons and test different results.
Seems to be what it boils down to, even though in the game it's written 'When accompanying someone of a different race...'. Here's the code for my current squad:
The current mission I'm checking that shows this it has the attributes: PHY 455 MEN 315 TAC 190, Elezen and Au Ra affinities.Quote:

The initial attributes (before it takes the chemistries into account) the calc tells me I should have are: PHY 515 MEN 333 TAC 326
The final attributes (after chemistries are calculated in) the calc tells me I should have are: PHY 515 MEN 337 TAC 329
However, the attributes the -game- gives me are PHY 515 MEN 337 TAC 326
Granted, in this case it's a small variance, but at one point the calc was 3 points higher on TAC than the actual attributes and those 3 points ended up being the difference between 'Bound to succeed' and 'Will be challenging'.
This one was an easy fix, it should work now.
Hey :)
I just wanted to ask you if you want to have a german translation for your site?
Would be cool to have it on another language than english
English only, as far as I know. However, while it might not be the best translating, Google Translate does translate full pages:
https://translate.google.com/transla...vsquadron.com/
Google Translation is extremely bad and confuse more then it helps xD I was just asking if I could translate it :)
Can you add an option to select a squadron from the results to apply experience to?
Has anyone done a YouTube video or something of how to use this tool? The textual explanation isn't helping me understand on how to use the tool so I am very unsure if I'm inputting figures correctly and how to use the results to train my squadron and do missions. Reasoning behind this is due to after hitting the "Apply" & "Confirm" buttons under training seems to absolutely nothing.
Squadron content is really poor balanced as for now, having a full group of 8 recruits and failing ALL lv 40 mission without any chance to maximize stats is awful.
Does this tool currently work? Hitting Resolve to find training solutions does nothing, on three separate browsers. Not even an error, just nothing.
I do not understand how to use this calculator. The text instructions are not helpful. I just want to see what I have to do to pass this lvl 20 voidsent mission. I am currently just throwing these dudes at the wall and seeing if something sticks in 18 hours and that's not really efficient or useful in understanding how this thing works.
Not related to this calculator, but for the 20 and 40 rank-up missions, all 3 stats for your squad must meet or exceed those listed for the mission. Rather than try to tailor the classes I had available to get the best spread, I just power-leveled everyone until I could brute force it.
Hey everyone who is looking at this website, it does apparently work still.
1. Make sure the marks next to your squadron members are checked. That isn't for affinity its just to tell the site which characters to use.
2. If you have an affinity then click on the lightning bolt to open that window
3. The training bonus is the bonus you have in the training regimen already so when you go train your squad use those numbers *took me awhile to figure it out, I am a noob*
4. Also on the mission requirements you will up the training by 1 each time to see what you need to do to raise your bonus to the right level to complete the mission. If all 6 fail then I am assuming you just need to do some more training on your own before it can read a positive match? I could be wrong.
If you guys have any questions feel free to leave them here and I will try my best to get in contact with you hehe. Hell I might even make that video some people want but I am not very good at that kinda stuff
Hi, is this tool still being working on ? (SB and 4.1 ready ?) i'm asking cuz with the 4.1 patch and squadron changes i'll probably have a huge need for it...
Nice job cuteness! I really appreciate your hardwork even tho can't really find it useful since I'm already all lv60 >.<
Hello Stoi,
Just posting to say that I'm looking for an update of your app too! I've discovered it recently and found it very usefull :)
Thank you for your job anyways ;)
Hi, sorry for being quiet for so long, I've been busy and away from the game for a long time. I came back a month ago or so and I'll update the app soon to work with the changes the 4.1 brought.
The update is now live.
-Increased the max level to 60 and added all the stats for these levels.
-Optimized the calculation time, up to 50% faster in certain cases, and at least 30% faster most of the time. It makes a big difference for 6 trainings.
-When a chemistry of a member is activated, its level in the results is now displayed in blue.
-Following the update just above, I also added the chemistries that do not affect the stats so that you can see if they are activated.
I made a lot of changes and tests to optimize the calculation time, and while I don't think I did a mistake, I didn't test on a very large scale. Let me know if you find any issue with the numbers or if something else is missing.
Concerning the command missions. Do the xp chemistry apply?Do the 3 squadron members get the same amount of xp?
Edit: I added the possibility to add xp to 3 squadron members, the reward from a command mission. Until I know how it works, the xp chemistry do not apply to the command mission xp. There's now two forms, one for the command missions, and one for the trainee missions that'll only work for respectively 3 and 4 squadron members selected.
Over the last days, I optimized the calculation time by another 30% or so, depending on the cases, and fixes various issues that I left behind me with the recent updates. Everything should be good now.
In order to always provide better results, I added a new function.
When you set or edit a chemistry, you can now, and must, set its priority, from 5 to 0. The higher the priority is, the most important is the chemistry for you.
For example, a chemistry giving +10% tactics could have 0. This is not a chemistry that is giving something interesting to you. On the other side, a chemistry giving you +30% chance to receive gatherer scrips is interesting, so you would set it to 4, or 5. The general idea would be that all the chemistries giving a bonus to the stats should have a priority set to 0, and all the others a priority between 1 and 5 included, based on what you want the most.
When the results are displayed, the script now takes into account the "power" of the chemistries for each combination. This "power" is the total of the priorities of all the activated chemistries in the combination, and it's used as the last parameter to sort the results. So, when you are still leveling your squadron, the results won't change much. But, when multiple results have the same level of members and the same number of training required, then the results with the highest "chemistry power" will now be displayed first.
For example, for a squadron with all members to level 60 and no training required, the combination with 1 chemistry activated and a priority set to 5 will be displayed before any combination with no chemistries activated or before any combination where the "chemistry power" is lower than 5. In other words, a combination with only 1 chemistry activated but with a priority set to 5 will be displayed before a combination with 2 chemistries activated with each a power of 2 (so 4 in total). When two combinations have the same "chemistry power", the combination with the highest number of chemistries activated will be displayed first.
The calculator should still work even if you don't edit your chemistries to set the priorities, but if it doesn't, you know what do to, and I recommend to do this anyway.
Since last update i can no longer apply exp(tried to apply 27000 exp from a mission to the MRD,CNJ,CNJ,ACN) to certain members and must edit it in manually: https://pastebin.com/FWyeFKqL
Tried all modern browsers(Edge, Chrome, Firefox).
Should be good now. I changed the way the numbers were parsed to get a little more performance, but I changed too many things :P
