I'm surprised this game has a T rating considering how often people get brutally murdered. I know there's no like explicit gore or anything, but it's still PRETTY bad even implied.

The Honeybee Inn was never "used" though. Yes ofc everyone knew what kind of place it was, but the player never went there on..."official business"
But that's exactly what the OP is requesting. It's not about the existence of prostitution as a vague idea in the game (because we already have that! plenty of it, to be exact), it's about being able to use "their services".
Like I said, you are by all means free to ERP as much as you want in the privacy of your own instanced space and private chat.
Nothing wrong with sentient adults doing whatever they want with each other :p
But it's a completely different story when you expect the GAME to include that. Because it is NOT a matter of "if you don't like it, just don't enter".
If it is included in the game, it will change 1. the rating and 2. the press coverage of the ENTIRE game.
Remember when GTA included a torture scene? You didn't even have to pick said protagonist and play through that scene, but that's basically all the game got reduced to.
I don't want people to think of FFXIV as the game for all the sad existences who need video game booty because they can't get the real deal.
I also don't want the game's age rating to go up either. And all of that doesn't even touch on the subject yet of how much of a problematic subject prostitution in general is...
On a different note, I do like your idea about a business that lets players work "normal" jobs for a bit! Seems interesting and amusing, mostly made me think of the part-time work in Pokemon X/Y.
There is absolutely no reason though why it can't be a normal inn instead of a brothel.
Weaving bedsheets, cooking food and beating up costumers who refuse to pay can all be done without the need to bring prostitution into the mix..:)
Y'know I heard so many great things about Balmung, I can't help but see what's all the fuss about. Then I'll immediately regret it. Or not, hmm...
Regardless, as passionate and interesting your suggestion is, I honestly can't imagine SE officially condoning the avocation of such player activity. It'll be projecting a market that SE isn't necessarily seeking and subsequently, potentially driving off much more wanted ones. While FFXIV sure likes to advertise as, "Your Fantasy come to Life!" It's more like, "Adventure! And more Adventure!" What am I saying, is literally what their website says.
It's not about the ratings and what they're for, as ratings are done by a third-party company and merely to suggest what age is suitable for the content of the product. Making it subjective. Not all developers aspire to attain a certain rating, some just happen because it just is, (Arkham Knight. Ala.,) Some developers like to attain a lower rating to open up a broader spectrum of audiences, but that's not necessarily saying their designing around those ages. Sometimes, all it takes is to remove blood to make a M game to a T game. (Total War series.)
Players are free to play the game to their discretion, to however they wish. But it's SE's discretion to develop content to whatever desire market they wish to appeal, and that market is not sexy fun time, it's I wanna punch Cthulhu in the face.
Hum... means they should work on collisions, currently, it looks weird, even considering to go through :p
This game has a red light district it's called the ruby road exchange complete with exotic dancers
/backs out of thread slowly....... ಠ_ಠ
Balmung already has a dozen courtesan groups and free companies that provide such services. Hell there was a FC just tonight advertising their strip club in party finder. That's not uncommon at all.
Could just add an ERP status(available to those of some age?)
ps please add an RP mentor status
I'm guessing we will be able to name out apartmets like we can with FC rooms, perhaps your better off looking for XXX rooms or The honey bee room.
Perhaps even one of the apartment buildings in one of the wards will become a brothel...
No

I've had a taste of Balmung RP (in Gridania), and, I must say, it tasted exactly the same as the RP I did in World of Warcraft for X amount of time. I showed up, I tried to participate, and if I was lucky, SOMEBODY would at the very least notice me trying to join in on the fun, but most of the time it was just people trying to get into each others' pants. That's all that RP truly led to in WoW, and it's likely all it really leads to on Balmung. Even if it wasn't presented as a brothel in Gridania, dudes only ever RPed with females, and vice-versa. Never saw two dudes RPing together, but I always saw 1dude1gal, or 2gals(+). That tells me something.
I don't want this.
The developers are not going to waste precious resources developing content specifically for a portion of the playerbase that is at odds with everyone else. Especially when dev approval has been at its lowest the past year precisely because of the perception that they're catering more to fashionistas instead of strengthening the core gameplay aspects of this game.
Send Foulques my regards.

good thread
the brothel is the quicksands tho
Just leave it for the ERP FC's ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
FF 14 1.0 - Miqo'te Turning Tricks at the Mining Guild
1.0 had it. honestly, why not?
1.0 Actually had a brothel. It was a little more then just hinted in the Miner's guild. It was in "the back", and the girls were more then willing to bring you back there for a good price. If it wasn't a brothel at least the guildmaster was a pimp for those poor miquotes.
I could see this ONLY as a lore thing (like 1.0), Ala Mhigo in its current state actually makes a lot of sense to have brothels (with people desperate for work so they can survive), and it would actually be a neat reference to FFV. And no OP, you should not be allowed to interact with it.
"Polish your weapon for fifty gil!"
"Need your field plowed, miss?"
"Buy me a drink and I'll coddle your eggs."
I upvoted most of the posts that said "no" to this.
" grabs popcorn" I'm ready for anything now :)

...
Yeah.
There is already a place like that in Balmung. Run by real players and "employees" controlled by real players.
These ERPers are weird. Why don't they do that stuff in a game that actually supports it, like Second Life or something? >_>
Depends on what you consider "a fair bit" ;)
Basically, what we need to know is the worth of Gil to normal everyday NPCs, since we adventurers are "special" in that we can work with amazing sums because of all the treasure we get from dangerous places.
I found food to be a good indicator, since everyone needs it to survive. Also, we see NPCs shopping at the vendors, so those shops aren't adventurer-exclusive or something.
(There actually even is a quest early on that has you pose as a costumer to check if the shops charge everyone the same price!)
A normal meal is about 10-400 Gil depending on ingredients and location (for example, hotpot with meat and lots of vegetables is a lot more expensive than some simple breakfast porridge).
A bottle of water is 4 Gil, a bottle of really shitty wine 10 Gil. Normal basic clothes go for 150-600 Gil (think of the aequivalent of a single T-Shirt or something).
Quest rewards (they are what people are willing to pay you) are in that range as well when you are still only considered a normal person (early low level).
They are basically saying "hey, run this errand for me and go buy yourself a sandwich or something".
Of course, all of that is referencing the life of a normal Eorzean. Once we get to the topic of rich people, all bets are off.
Since Gillionaire is a word used in NPC speech, we can at least be sure that they are in the range of player funds (which tend to be in the millions as well).
Well, and then you have people like Lolorito and Manderville daddy, who are just out of everyone's league, but then again, they are kind of plot devices to introduce new stuff, so we'd have a problem if their funds were limited x)
What all that boils down to is...you can survive on 50 Gil per "weapon polish", but it won't be a pretty life and you probably will have to live out in the streets..oh nvm, that's what the brothel is for, I guess
You'll be surprised what people ask to do with lala's. We have soft skin, tight round butts and *quite* flexible.
Trust me, i'm a lala, I learned from the best. Linette Noir of balmung.
