I'm more interested to see inside the apartments, I'd hope they are more interesting than the FC rooms.
I can see I'm the minority here, but I really like decorating and customizing and basically emulating the Sims.
I have a house, and yes I'm going to sprint and get an apartment on day one as well. I'd even love one of each but I know that's not possible.
Yes, some players have alts (I don't) and exploit these features by selling the houses for ridiculous prices, but in other cases like myself, its not that I'm being unfair...the system is.
I have one alt on the same server as my main and I was thinking of getting my alt an apartment but looking at the amount of apartments there are I'm going to forget about the idea
Well if they WTB a house there is no house to take :p but i get the idea ^^
And i totally agree, I just hope that one day they add it in the TOS, of course no one reads it but then they would be a "no matter what" policy cause your supposed to read it and know it
8 feet square ? ^^"
I had the hope that this review would show us the inside of the rooms..and not the buildings that we already know.
Some days before when someone wrote that there will be one in each ward and subdivision I was really hopeful and happy that we will get over 30k apartments which should be quite enough...and yet it seems that in the end my skeptic side won again..Why SE? Why do you allow people with a house to buy a apartment if you now only have 90 instead of 512 rooms per building? I wanted to have one too after I thought it will be over 30k but now I wont get it because I fear that homeless people will get nothing thanks to some people that already own multiple houses..Why not just instance those and give everyone a chance to own a apartment? This could have been your chance to finally provide everyone a room and yet you choose something limited again..And you also did not learn anything from the past and made no restriction for us house owners..
And why is this without a timer if its also something limited? Someone could buy multiple apartments through alts and never play again and wont loose them? But someone that owns a house but had to pay way more will loose it after those 45 days? How is that fair? :(
Its way easier and cheaper to get an apartment..so a lot more people will try to get one..and probably some of them will stop playing the game..those apartments are now lost forever if they dont delete their character..but its fair that a person that has put in maybe 50 million gil in a big house will loose it after 45 days? Yes its bigger and has a garden but it also costs way more than an apartment.
SE either use your demolition system on everything or dont use it at all..this is imo not fair..(I dislike the demolition..it would be way better if everybody could have the chance for a nice house...they just need to be instanced..)
Well as someone that owns a small house that is way to small for all those items I can now only wait for the moving feature...that I am not even sure will come..
I wasn't sure which apartment to go for, since I own/have full access to houses in each area, but "The Sultana's Breath"? I'm sold.
Indeed, that was the first thing that caught my eye. All the information we'd been given til now said 512, including official statements (unless I am somehow remembering wrong). With 90 per ward/subdivision that only adds about 6500 apartments to each server, not nearly as many as we were led to believe.
If it's only 90 per building, then I think we need a big fat community PSA strongly urging present owners of homes to leave the apartments for those without a house already. I mean, come on guys be fair. With only 6,480 per server instead of the original estimate (based on 512 per block) of 36,864 apartments, those without a home really need to be given priority.
Present home owners in Eorzea, please do not purchase an apartment during the 1st week of their availability at least. Give others a chance of owning their own space please.
Maybe on smaller servers but for places like Balmung all the actual houses and the apartments combined together doesn't even met half the population of the server. I have heard balmung has like 30,000 characters and even if you cut that down to say 20,000 that previous statement would still hold true cause all the housing and apartments combined together will only be around 8000 spots.
not exact math
I'm not sure that they did give that number. It was said that pricing between FC housing and Personal housing would be different with personal housing being more affordable (but still pricey). The specific number came from a number seen during a demonstration of housing features that was never stated as an accurate price, and was just kind of assumed by the community to be a price.
You really need to stop throwing peanuts from the gallery.
90 is a really odd number. Normally the numbers are various powers of 2. So you'd expect apartments per block to be one of 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, etc... 90 just doesn't fit in that pattern at all, it's a really odd number. I have a feeling this is related to a instancing limitation of some kind and the number of 90 must represent the high watermark for the current server capability to instance. Perhaps in future the number will be extended.
I don't want to be mean at all and sorry if I sound like (english not my mother tongue :/) but do you really consider the idea that players will be fair and give those without a house a chance at having an appartement ? In THIS game ?
I mean, where were you the last time they add new houses ?
Of cours, just like you I hope some of us will be civilized enougth and won't act as *** but....I mean come on we all saw the Pfs ans the reddit threads :/
This community is so toxic and selfish some FC have more than 10 houses for re-selling at outrageous prices, how can someone think they will be fair ? :/
(Again, don't want to bee mean to you at all, i swear ^^")
I'm going to echo the disappointment that this wasn't a preview of the inside of the apartments. Also, I really wish they had gone with the 512 rather than the 90. It's going to mean that I have no choice but to be frantically clicking when the servers come up.
The upside I'm taking away from this (I see it as an upside), is that SE is actually giving us the disappointing news with some advance warning rather than on the night of the patch. As much as I may not like the news, it was one of my big criticisms of the housing debacle and at least I know in advance so I can plan my day.
Housing has always been way easier for low pop servers. This is just another example. And of course people are going to take advantage of that >->;
BUT HEY!
4.2 will be introducing cardboard box housing though. Said to have enough space for everyone.
BTW does anyone know where physically the apartment building will be in the wards? want to log off in the closest spot to it before maintenance so I can book it to it when I log back on( hope I get the top floor, need all those stairs to get back that 1.0 booty).
Only the top 5- maybe 10 server will feel the pain.. The other 52 will be lolling at you all! There are ove 40 server with house still open, and over 10 server with as many as 50+ houses open still.
So you know there will be 1000s of Apartments open on the same servers too.
In the end just move server if it that big for you, More over don't pick a big server to start.
Easy fix!
Well should it be a worry for some they won't get an apartment due to alts, I wish you the best. Honestly unless you can actually get a room at the top floor and walk outside or even see outside, it doesn't seem like it would be much different than the Inn room or a single FC room.

Will pay million of gils for this! :D
Hey, I was up all night at the last significant housing update so I could purchase a home, I'm aware of the land-rush that happens. I'm not under the illusion that this community will suddenly become all civil and give others a chance, but if some do, won't that help? If we stop trying to improve the community, are we not contributing to it's demise?
For perspective.

When housing was shown for the 2.1 update they did not comment on the amount of instances they would have for each location so we can't assume that there will only be 270 apartments at this point in time.
I agree with you but trying to improve the community will probably not work unfortunally :/
nice and civil players will remain that way, *** will also remain that way, not matter what we do, just look at some comments regarding housing plots including things like "me myself and I are happy with are 3 house" or "if your too poor to buy a house or if you have a life i don't care, it's you'r fault" (I had quit an argument about that regarding selfish people preventing FC to get a house while some FC content are gated behing having an FC house)
is this going to be like fc rooms? or a little bigger?
90 rooms per building? Damn. I doubt there will be any left after a few days.
The sad part about limited housing is that it makes some people feel like they need to reserve a room just in case. Not because they want to use it right away but because they know it might be the only chance they get to obtain one. This causes an even bigger housing demand. I wonder if SE is intentionally keeping it exclusive like that.
I still fail to see other then the views how apartments are different then rooms in houses?
As when they introduced more housing recently i imagine apartments will be filled soon.
So those only able to log in after work @ night are sol
Yes, because it's so easy for us to move servers after we've been on said server for 3 years. That includes leaving your FC, cutting connections, losing out on gil that you can't transfer with you....
Yeah, transferring servers just to have housing is such an easy fix.
