Does anyone actually like "expert" roulette?

I hate it! Its boring. I rather do palace of the dead (better reward) or PvP Feast (better challenge) instead of Expert roulette. But I dont really care about tomes.

Its funny, that its called "expert", even when its easier than any lower level dungeon (like vault or dzemael). Hell, even Aetherochemical Research Facility is more entertaining than Sohr Khai and Hullbreaker HM.

Having only two dungeons available in Expert Roulette is very disappointing, especially when I get Sohr Khai 4/5 times. I find myself actively wishing for Hullbreaker Isle just to change things up and heave big sighs when I see Ratatoskr's Ruins.

This is my biggest complaint with Heavensward. I would prefer to have three dungeons per patch again and there are many things I would be willing to forego to make this happen.

(As an aside, I love Fractal Continuum and Antitower. They are so much fun!)

With having only 2 dungeons introduced with patches now, Expert roulette gets really old really fast. To be fair though, back when it was 3 dungeons, one of the 3 would be universally hated, and people would abandon at the start. Pharos Sirrus still suffers from this even though the place is a cakewalk now.

No. I have long wished they abandoned it and just merged all 60 dungeons into one daily or allow you to run it twice. Hell, toss Nidhogg, Weeping City and maybe a few others in there to add some variety. Two dungeons gets incredibly tedious, which is why I tend to queue separately for Weeping or other dungeons. Sure, it takes a little longer top cap, but it isn't Hullbreaker!

I say... despite having to spam like eight Hullbreakers in a row because I kept forgetting to cap earlier in the week. :o

I used to do it all the time but when it puts you in the same dungeon everyday 2 weeks in a row ( looking at you hullbreaker >.> ) I decided to stop doing it and loathe that dungeon since it is so boring

I don't have a reason to do Expert roulette every day since I have capped gear on my main (aside from second ring stuck at 230). The Maelstrom dungeon bores me to tears and the other one is... decent, I guess. I'm not gonna queue for a roulette if neither of the dungeons are fun or even visually appealing. =/

I wish they'd just have Expert there for a couple weeks and then combine Expert dungeons+the rewards with the level 60 roulette. Or give us an alternative reward for doing the Expert roulette when the current tomestone has been capped... at least... Really can't feel motivated to slog through Hullbreaker half the time when there's hardly any daily reward.

Not a fan of roulettes in general to be honest. the expert especially.

The problem with dungeons is that they are always "dead on arrival" content. obsolete. before they're even implemented.

Using expert as an example. Sohr kai and hull breaker hard, both offer out rewards that are ilevel 215. yet almost everyone doing the experts is or rather was at least 225. the content is thus "dead on arrival" and only ever gets touched for the daily bonus.

expert would be nice if there was more variety in what you got and perhaps got lore gear as a reward. move away from the tomestone system. or at the very least make it a secondary option. akin to how primal tokens work. primary way of getting drops is kill the thing. but if rng does not bode well for you, you are at least collecting a few tokens to eventually get the piece you want. experts could work the same way. where lore gear drops from the experts but tomes could be used to pick up that elusive piece that rng never shows you.

so no I don't really like the experts or dungeons at all really. they're always obsolete before they even get released

I'm not a fan of Expert Roulette.
Or rather I'm not a fan of running it regularly since that burns me out on the dungeons.

Thankfully I haven't had much need to run it in 3.3 since I've been capping tomes from other things like Aquapolis and Palace of the Dead. I go once in a while with my friends but not daily. And I think doing lots of different things in moderation is the key to keeping content fresh. For me at least.

I'm one of those people that don't touch (any) roulette. Ever. I've done Sohr kai about 4 times and Hullbraker probably just 2 or 3 times. I hate dungeons and I usually avoid doing them. Unless I need it for the relic. It's just a pain in the ass doing it.

Yeah, it really would be nice if they added a token system for this to the game.

They could even call it something like... Allagan tomestones... of lore.

I think for the 4.0, they should do this:
- Expert roulette --> Hard roulette
- Release the true Expert roulette

The *real* expert roulette should just be Steps of Faith (normal), Thok Ast Thok (normal), and Pharos Sirius (normal).

I'll mirror what a lot of others have said already. My biggest problem with the Expert Roulette is that it only has two dungeons. In order to maximize my lore for a week I'd need to do the roulette about 4-6 times a week (I don't remember exactly how many). After the first week or two it just gets so tedious. I really wish there was more variety in the dungeons to keep things interesting a bit longer. I really don't like Sohr Khai, and Hullbreaker Isle isn't that much better.

I don't think it helps that it seems like that's the only real efficient way to get lore. I could be wrong and the alternatives could be more useful than I think but if I recall they only give what, 15 lore? Maybe if there were more paths to easily capping lore in a week it also would feel less boring. As it is now, I have a hard time bringing myself to do expert more than once or twice in a week, usually at the request of a FC member.

At this point I reckon they should just rename expert roulette into Reward Roulette and put all the level 60 dungeons in there. There is nothing "expert" about expert roulette and it would at least give some more options.

I stop that along time ago weeping city gear or 220 honestly is plenty of gear needed for whatever they release next patch, if i do get enough tomes to purchase a lore item bonus points.

This is just a side effect of creating a content model that revolves around currency caps and weekly resets. It turns the game into a weekly chore list, that gradually becomes less and less enjoyable until you find yourself doing things in the game that you dont even enjoy, simply because they "have to be done". Occasionally you get a new item or piece of gear, and this bumps the reward system in our brain just enough to keep us beating the horse. This has been a staple of many rpg, and particularly mmo designs. You can literally get players so invested in this that they will log in and play even when they arent really enjoying what they are doing. Before this devolves into a psychology paper, I will just say that I think fresh, new types of content need to land, and do so quickly in this game. Weve been in the same content mold since 2.0 released, and its time to break out of it and do something different. I look forward to the live letter this week, and for the news of the new expansion in October to see where the devs want to take it but I think they know its time to do something different as well.

I think it does its job for getting the daily tomes fast. Do I like it? Not realy. Dungeons in this game are too similiar, Start---> Hallway with monsters ----> Boss, repeat this 2 more times and you reach the End. Just wish they added different stuff, jump puzzles etc.

Like is a strong word for Expert Roullete, more I Tolerate its existance & its semi-ease for Lore tomes if I'm in a time crunch nothing hard about it should just rename it to something like "Patch Roullete" or if the old "Hard Roullete" is gone in name & became "lv 60 Roullete" then just use that cause it ant no "Expert" lv challange unless u get a troll or a team of ppl who can't use combos or stances

I second this, I currently don't like expert roulette all that much because of the chance to get THAT dungeon. Hullbreaker HM is boring.

Agreeing on much of what has been said here. Ex roulette is too easy and not varied enough. Still have nightmares from Neverreap roulette.

For most of us it becomes a dull 15 minute chore. Once you're done grinding anima and gearing up your job the rewards are rendered pointless. If we could have optional dungeons of no less than Nidhogg normal level difficulty at relevant ilv, I would be very pleased.

Again, for all the people commenting on it, "expert" is not meant to say "this roulette takes the most skill to clear" but rather "this roulette has the 4-man dungeons with the highest item level requirements"
